François Roland Truffaut (1932–1984) was a pioneering French filmmaker, critic, and actor, celebrated as one of the founding architects of the French New Wave. Born in Paris, he endured a turbulent childhood, finding solace inside movie theaters and developing a lifelong passion for cinema. Transitioning from a highly opinionated critic at the influential magazine Cahiers du Cinéma into a masterful director, he revolutionized global filmmaking by championing the auteur theory, which views the director as the primary creative force behind a film.
He achieved instant international fame with his stunning debut feature, The 400 Blows (1959), a deeply personal, semi-autobiographical masterpiece that introduced his recurring cinematic alter-ego, Antoine Doinel, played by Jean-Pierre Léaud. Over a prolific quarter-century career, Truffaut directed more than 20 films, balanceing lighter romantic comedies with intense psychological dramas. His most famous works include the iconic romantic tragedy Jules and Jim (1962), the dark thriller The Bride Wore Black (1968), and the brilliant backstage comedy-drama Day for Night (1973), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Truffaut's distinct style blended a deep respect for traditional Hollywood storytelling, especially the suspense of his idol Alfred Hitchcock, with the liberating, fluid camera techniques of modern European cinema. He also occasionally stepped in front of the camera, most notably playing French scientist Claude Lacombe in Steven Spielberg’s Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). His untimely death from a brain tumor at age 52 cut short the career of a man whose profound love for cinema fundamentally changed how movies are made and understood worldwide.

And I am off again - another long day at work! I may or may not make it back tonight, but in any case will be here tomorrow!
I wake up in the morning and lay in my bed waiting for my mom to prepare breakfast. And suddenly I remember that I’m the mom.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I hope you have a successful day at work, with minimal nonsense from other people to deal with.
(((Gma))) I'm so very sorry for the loss of your DF BS. You were such a good, kind friend to her. On a practical note, I'm sure there are several ways her brother could pay the funeral home - I don't think distance should be a difficulty. He could ask them to email him the bill, and there should be several ways to pay - over the phone using his credit / debit card, online using BACS, or even good old - fashioned cheque in the post ( assuming they still take cheques - many companies here have stopped taking them.). Also, I seem to have cats on my mind ATM , (I'm currently feeding a neighbour 's cat while they are away) and iirc DF BS had 2 cats which are currently being cared for by the housekeeper (?).
Today is a beautiful sunny day, warm, but less hot than it has been. Freddie has joined the gang on the bed for biscuits, but then refused to eat his breakfast and climbed on top of "his" cupboard again and is watching us with an evil glint on his eye. I think he's worried about a second visit mto the vet. ( He needn't fear,.no one is going through that performance again any time soon!) I offered him some Greek yogurt from my finger and he licked that greedily,.so I don't think there's anything wrong with him.
I have PUPA downstairs and run the hoover and a quick duster about and fed Mica down the road. I them left early.foe church (I'm still getting used to the new clutch!) and I've hoovered and polished the inside of the car. Ibe already.had a message from DH to say Jude was walking all over his laptop and where.was the blood pressure monitor?

Gma, I'm so sorry about your dfBS. You were such a committed caring friend to her. I'm so glad you could be with her until the end.
L Ann, I'm almost done with the first Emma M Lion book on Audible! Enjoy your walk!
You did so much before going to church this morning, Kitty! I hope it's a good service.
I have not heard of this French filmmaker, trissie. I hope you have a good, albeit long, day at work. Are you WFH tomorrow?
BTW, I'm having difficulties with this site - but I'm able to get in eventually.
I'm up and feeling better about my schedule because not only has AC taken the TOEFL project off my plate, she has also found someone else as a back up sub for this afternoon.
Also, I did some payroll work yesterday evening and got 1 exam out for review and updated the teacher website. Since I'm not subbing today, I'll have time to work on more exams. I am also feeling discouraged because after dipping down a little, my weight is creeping back up -- and I can't figure out why. I'm tracking my food, eating similarly as before; I'm exercising more in general. (I did not make it to the gym yesterday, however.) AND we're meeting friends for pizza tomorrow night AND J is bringing pizza to CG1 on Saturday night. Oh, help! LOL! We're leaving next week so not much more can be done - unless I just fast for a week, which I'm not going to do.
Today: I have WW @ 8, my weekly academic check in meeting with AC at 11:30-12:30, and then my weekly work out with AS at 2-3. I'd like to make good progress on exam prep today.
Next:
- spiff myself
- 8 - 8:30 WW meeting
- s2s and self care
- some qt
TaDas!
- up; weighed self - discouraging news
- coffee --> happiness!
- installed Norton on new laptop
- a little bit of payroll communication

Good morning and thanks for the start, trissie. Hope it's a good day at work.
Kittykatt by the end of the week (or sooner) that little cat will be your best friend:)
Gma sorry to hear about your DF's passing. She was so fortunate to have you in her life. You were such a good friend - always there for her.
helia don't get discouraged, weight goes up and down. Could it be the stress of your schedule driving it up?
LAnn - organized as ever:) How is DD doing?
I did not get a chance to post yesterday: had my DGD's and, once they left, I crashed and napped shamelessly.
Also, it was difficult to access the boards.
Today, I have to get the girls and take them to the orthodontist. I don't even dare to plan much in the house as these days just get away from me.
I hear ddog's tummy rumbling... She's eaten grass again... It's a pattern.
Next:
meds
breakfast for pup
check laundry/start
get ready to go.

DD33 is good, KitKat. There are two local cases of measles though which is concerning. She has been vaccinated multiple times but doesn’t titer for measles.

And her one medication that prevents strokes means she can’t have live vaccines.

I need to download the third one, helian.
