The fig is the edible fruit of Ficus carica (the common fig), a species of tree or shrub in the flowering plant family Moraceae, native to the Mediterranean region, and to western and southern Asia. It has been cultivated since ancient times and is now widely grown throughout the world. Ficus carica is the type species of the genus Ficus, which comprises over 800 tropical and subtropical plant species.

The fig plant is a deciduous tree or large shrub, growing up to 7–10 m (23–33 ft) tall, with smooth white bark. Its large leaves have three to five deep lobes. Its fruit is teardrop-shaped, 3–5 cm (1–2 in) long, initially green but may ripen toward purple or brown, and has sweet soft reddish flesh containing numerous small seeds. In the Northern Hemisphere, fresh figs are in season from early August to early October. They tolerate moderate seasonal drought and can be grown even in hot-summer continental climates.

In 2020, world production of raw figs was 1.26 million tonnes, led by Turkey (with 25% of the world total), Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria, collectively accounting for 62% of the total. Although the milky sap of the green parts of the plant is an irritant to human skin, figs can be eaten fresh or dried. They are also processed into jam, rolls, biscuits, and other types of desserts. Since ripe fresh figs are easily damaged in transport and do not keep well, most commercial production is in dried and processed forms.

Raw figs contain roughly 80% water and 20% carbohydrates, with negligible protein, fat, and micronutrient content. They are a moderate source of dietary fibre.

Good morning everyone and happy Friday!

Just a quick CI as I need to be OTD early again today, However yesterday was very successful..Jude has lost another 190 grams, and I had a lot chat with the lovely nurse about Mica's situation.

We now have a plan if her owners don't return - they will take her in, and do all the health checks and the legal side and scan for a chip, and hold her for 7 days while they try to find her owner . I express an interest in adopting her when I take her in, and ask to be kept informed.

Then after 7 days if she hasn't been claimed, and all the tests show she's healthy (we don't want her to give anything to our three) we should hopefully be able to adopt her.

If it turns out she has an underlying issue, then they will give her to Cats Protection. DH is now much happier about the whole thing.😀 I have to just "keep on keeping on" feeding Mica twice a day, and giving the illusion that everything is normal.

I love your SHEM, kittykatt, however - if you organize things well enough, maybe everything WILL fit! At least that's what my kids think, except they skip the part with "organize" :-)

Never got back yesterday. The Odyssey was a lovely movie, though I am somewhat under-impressed - some scenes dragged on for way too long, and the sound was painfully loud a others. But it was good to see it in a movie theater!
Off work today, so treated myself to a slow morning (also because we didn't get home till half past midnight), but now need to get going!

I can attest, from living with my parents, that you are right, and the above is indeed possible, and it can look very well, organised so long as you don't ever need to take anything out or put anything back. Then it becomes an endurance marathon. I can remember once wanting a small plate for an apple I had quartered. I had to take so much out before I could actually take the plate out, and then, of course, had to put it all back again! Which is partly why I try and declutter reasonably regularly, as I like an easy life!
