"Thursday's Child" by David Bowie is a reflective 1999 pop-rock song about an older man looking back at a hard life. He feels like an outsider, but finds a sudden spark of hope and healing through a new romantic love.
The verses show a man who tried his best, faced struggle, and has regrets about his past. The chorus brings a bright, emotional shift where he welcomes tomorrow because a new love heals his dark past.
Bowie got the name for the title from the autobiography of actress Eartha Kitt, playing on the old nursery rhyme phrase "Thursday's child has far to go."

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!
Just a quick CI. Yesterday was a bit draining. Mica's owners texted at the last minute to say they have "family problems" and their arrival has been further delayed until.the 4th/5th September. This would be quite believable if it wasn't for all the happy family groups at theme parks and weddings they've posted on social media! They've promised to send some food. We'll see if it arrives! In the meantime I'll order some myself so she doesn't go short, and just carry on feeding her.

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt. Mica is in good hands, and lucky to be in your care when she has such unreliable owners.

Yes, echoing Doggedly's comment - glad you're taking care of Mica, Kitty. I'm curious which way it will go with the owners. Often people post rosier-than-reality pics of their lives on social media, so that may not be an accurate reflection of their lives either. But maybe it is -- I don't know them. I listened to David Bowie as a teen.
Enjoy your morning walk, L Ann! I love Indian food!
See you later, Doggedly.
Yesterday afternoon, I met dd30 at a coffee shop and worked on payroll. I got a draft of the first R exam done + an email to C on the exam prep team taken care of. I made a yummy dinner of (Asian - Vietnamese?) chicken lettuce wraps. It's a great recipe. It just requires the chopping of a lot of ingredients: shiitake mushrooms, garlic, fresh ginger (grated), chives, water chestnuts, chicken. The lettuce leaves just needed to be washed and separated. I've checked in with AS and my work out is on for 2 pm today. I also called the window washer guy and left a message and called and texted the hair salon and left messages. I almost wonder if my phone is broken since I still haven't heard back from the carpet cleaner, let alone the window washer and hair salon.
I also took care of snail mail bills.
Today: I'm up and working on my coffee. I woke up at 6:37, so the jetlag is slowly improving each day. The rule of thumb I've been told is: Recovery from jetlag takes about 1 day for each hour of jetlag. We experienced a 6 hour time shift, so it should take 6 days. Today is day 4. My Thursdays have these regular meetings on them:
8-8:30 a.m - WW meeting
11:30 - 12:30 payroll: academic check in with AC
2-3 work out with AS
In between these meetings, I'd like to work on decluttering in the bedroom, prep of dbro + dniece's guest room, perhaps the car wash? And other things on my brain dump list - the baby gifts and cards.
I'm having breakfast with AC tomorrow, and I'll go to the running store afterward since it is close to the restaurant.
Next:
- s2s and self care
- otd at 7:45 to WW
- 8-8:30 WW meeting
Later:
- qt
- make bed
- finish reclaiming kitchen
- decluttering MBR: 30minutes - work on closet
- payroll: email reply to C
- check to KJ in the mail
- car wash?
- prep guest room
- s/s bathroom
- 11:30 - 12:30 payroll: academic ci with AC
- lunch
- after lunch clean up
- call carpet cleaners again?
- 1:40 walk to gym
- 2-3 work out
- walk home
- order baby gifts?
- dinner: latkes, applesauce, pulled pork
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo
- update WW
- update MFP
TaDas!

Good morning and thanks for the start
Kittykatt.
Hopefully, it is just a delay with Mica's owners. In the meanwhile, she IS in good hands.
Your salad wrap sounds lovely,
helia
Have a good sleep
Dogged.
Yesterday turned into an extra long day: Dkids left at 5:30.... at which point all I could do was take a nap.
One load of laundry got done, baked some savoury bites for dkids, made dinner - that was it.
Today:
I have two appointments, in between I get DGD. In the evening I'm going out with DD.
We have people in front breaking up pavement, so it's extremely noisy. (Has been since yesterday...)
I must take pup for long walk and tire her out as I'll be leaving at the time when bunny comes to feed on my grass... DH can't take pup out on leash, so he is limited...
Starting MR - now.

Doggedly, "air pressure doing something creative", lol. Ouch, ouch - hope the migraine is over.
Mica is in good hands, yes, but this is getting a little sad to me... .. perhaps I expect too much of owners. It's just that preparation is so important. helia's right that sometimes on social media people become almost scared to show anything that is not wonderful. One of the hazards.
L.Ann, flash mob practice sounds so adventurous!
kitkat, hoping that noise level goes down for you soon.
Gma, I am not a bakery either, but I wish I could bake more. I love Great British Baking Show and dream. My dh is quite a baker from decades in food manufacturing - at least, he knows how to make a thousand of something, which is different but principles the same. He watches the show with me and talks to the contestants in frustration: "no, no, not the freezer!" lol
We are off to an appt for him. Hope everyone has a great day.
