Enthusiasm Sunday ( !!! )

Twins' gave us these thoughts last year about enthusiasm.
Novelist Charles Kingsley on happiness:
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about."
What lends enthusiasm to your life and how does it make you happy? Is it home? Being home, or taking care of home? family? hobbies (genealogy, lol, sewing? creative pursuits, like Nancy?) Writing? (again, Nancy) Exercise (sorry, no, but it has to be done, lol)
Please discuss - is the quote realistic?
blessed has been in earlier this morning and posted to yesterday's thread, so check that out.
lucylee, too.
trissie has posted House and Holidays topic with all the PLANS info in Fun and Games, with all the weekly prompts 2026.

Waving back to you, blessed!
lucylee, I'm glad you started feeling better. Yes, sounds like a plan for cousins and tickets. I will have some thoughts for you about porch cleaning in the Focus thread.
Spiral notebooks/planners - was this lucylee, too? Someone chatted here about ability to take these apart or not for DIY arrangement of your favorite pages. I happened upon this YT explanation for doing just that with the "Wire-O" or "Twin-Wire" type, which begins at about the 5 and 1/2 minute mark. (If your screen allows you to see a transcript, it is called "deconstruction" and then "building".) Of course, it sort of requires the different pages or cover having the same number of wires, but there could be some lee-way with close amounts like the common 15s and 16s. Turns out this process has a name among planner folks: "Frankenplanning", lol.
ENTHUSIAM !!! - lol, sorry just being enthusiastic. Lately, mine seems to be affected by the phenomenon Twins' explained to us re: "September is the new January". I actually DO feel enthusiasm about new-year-type thinking like getting the house in order and (related but not the same thing) bringing order to the house. Lately, ya'll have had to listen about my 5x5s, for instance. And, while I'm not really scrolling for planners yet, I'm getting interested. Sewing, still a "YES", tempered with the sensible promise to get my chores done first.
5x5 is the Sunday type, a little calmer
get set up for morning service, notetaking
sewing
measure little bathroom for wood trim (a Focus finish this round?)
a putter in the garden
office - get to a stopping point on declutter here, ready for FOCUS

d harriet Good good morning!!! waving at you too!!!
have a truly wonderful Sunday day! Calm and enjoyable Sunday to you and everyone!!
I like that quote: "all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about." it's so so true - purpose, learning and enthusiasm is a true gift in life! totally agree!
My dad was very good at that and shared that advice with us.
trissie hello!

Good morning, all!
I'm trying to find my enthusiasm, though I managed to get by without it yesterday. I just slogged through, alternating between working on my cards and working on a puzzle, and lo and behold, I got most of my cards done.
DD, however, is feeling very enthusiastic -- she is watching a baseball blooper reel and telling me about all of it.
We have games with friends today, though we won't be starting until 2, so I'm going to see how much I can get done before we go. Hmm... sounds like maybe some enthusiasm is creeping in there. I do have to go to church and am in fact reading today, but it's not time yet.
blessed, I have chosen Jonna Mendez's memoir, "In True Face," for an upcoming book club book because the interviews I have heard with her have been so fascinating.
Need to leave in about 10 minutes, so I should probably wrap up here. Have a great day, everybody!

So glad the enthusiasm is catching, friends. I'm back among the living today so I have that to be enthusiastic about. Dh is sour this a.m., probably in part because I turned down an invitation for a boat ride tomorrow with different boat friends. The explanation was "that I hadn't felt well yesterday" so that yes Twins does have plans for tomorrow. If I feel lousy, it's "not feeling well" if he feels lousy it's entirely different. I can not believe how much I slept or how bad I felt yesterday. Temp was 99.9 at bedtime and I slept well after I got to sleep. I slept most the day off and on.
Ddog had me up before eight this a.m. but that's okay. Dh walked her already and I'm actually moving and cautiously consulting routines and to dos.
OKay, it's later and I didn't get this posted. Have s22-ed and still moving.

Hi!
Before I used this 7 day "strip" type of "calendar", I used regular calendars that have the picture at the top and the full month at the bottom. When I was looking for something to use, I quickly decided against using the type of book with a wire coil type of thing holding it together. I knew what I didn't want. I know that I prefer basic, easy, plain things to write in or on. I know I don't want anyone reading anything I did. Who really wants to read that their mother scrubbed the kitchen sink every night or that Wednesdays was a good day to water the plants inside the house? After reading all of my dad's stuff, and the fact that he never wrote my birthday or my dd's birthday, but did write all the male family members birthdays really irked me. Do I want my dd to read something like that. No! Do I think she follows me on anything I post online? Nope.
I have been to the pharmacy to pick up 3 prescriptions for dh. He is still sleeping. I get so much done in the mornings while he sleeps.
I took all of the garbage out. I did a small load of laundry. It's just beeping now to let me know it's done. Time to throw it into the dryer.
Maybe tomorrow I can sit and relax for the entire day. Maybe lay in bed and read!! This afternoon the Blue Jays have their third game of the series against Kansas City.

Twins', I've had drs say to me that it makes no difference if you get multiple injections on the same day, but then actual experience doesn't always seem to bear that out. Maybe they weren't talking about how someone is going to feel. Joining you in dealing with a sour housemate today. Mine doesn't hear himself when he speaks with irritation, but it's entirely different if I respond with it. If only he could remember for a short time how the conversation actually went.
Cathy, I see your point about how a planner, since it is in book form, might appear to "the future" as something one would actually pick up and read, when that wasn't the idea. I think it has been diet/food diary that has made a planner form seem helpful to me - I really want to hang on to the record-keeping, to see how what I eat affects me, long-term, short-term. Household tracking in a grid with checks take up only a few inches a week as shorthand in the same place, so it's there, while the cardfile has the full story. Frankly, I write down good things but choose words very carefully when something's bad - like "ds replaced backdoor lock" without telling about all the upset. The limited space is a good thing.

dd older and I made a good team with d mom today. dd is the mom whisperer.
dd got her up out of bed - had her walk with walker to the bathroom - we both cleaned her up - letting her wash herself first.
I made swedish pancakes from a mix
dd had mom stand in the Sara steady next to the stove and make her own scrambled eggs and choose her own fruit.
I helped with the bathroom again after dd brought her there.
now dd is going to roll her in her Sara steady to put her dirty laundry in the washing machine.
dd had her help her make soup and cookies yesterday.
my card file is set for today and hopefully this week
