You can do anything, not everything.

Wise words for today from a productivity guru. Yes, we can do anything we want, but we just can't do it all. Today's the prep day if tomorrow is your Thanksgiving....remember not to overdo!

It is a winter wonderland here this morning but will be gone by tomorrow. Thankfully, since the snow tires aren't on yet and we have to go downtown tomorrow. The driveway is being plowed out right now so the car will be able to get out.

Today we should go to the bank (a cheque paying us for 1/2 of our work this year came in so it is large and needs to be dealt with) and we'll be out for choir. If the roads are ok after choir (it will have been above freezing for a while then), we'll go. Otherwise, I'll wait until tomorrow when I'm out anyway.

Friday will back into the 50s but we'll probably do the snow tires then since the day is open.

My former minister had to cancel dinner on Sunday so that opens up time for me too. I couldn't get plastic table coverings for the church tables so use what we have. I had wanted deep green to go with the red napkins I bought. And I didn't buy enough candles for the sanctuary windows - there are seven windows but they are divided into two panes each so I need 6 more electric candles. And those are a drive in the opposite direction but a quick run from choir. Dh won't want to go. Besides I didn't buy enough batteries yesterday for 6 more candles, only the two I needed. Sigh....

Today's focus will be housework, not because I have T-day tomorrow but because I haven't got any done yet this week. I was doing other, important, stuff on Monday and yesterday was out almost all day.

Thanks for opening this morning Twins. That is a great quote.

We are having Thanksgiving dinner at dd1 house. She has had it continuously since at least 2006. Dd2 and her family always go to his parents for noon dinner, first with her ex and now with her dh. Then they come to dd1 that evening. She always gripes about eating our leftovers. I always bring about half the meal to dd1. She has her inlaws also. Dd1 and I feel like why should she fix a dinner at noon for her inlaws while I am at home fixing an evening dinner for my 2 girls and their families, while dd2 is off having dinner at noon and bringing 1 item for it and most times nothing to our evening meal. Which is not the issue. The issue is that she is never responsible for a Thanksgiving meal, so dd1 and I don't feel like she should be griping about eating our "leftovers". So this year we finally came up with a solution. We have told her we will be having turkey sandwiches that evening. We will also be having a veggie tray, bean dip, cheese dip with chips, etc. Nothing will be heated up from the noon meal. Usually we just get everything out and everyone fixes a plate and microwaves it. We are making 2 of every pie and 1 of each will be served at noon and evening. All I know is we better not hear any griping again. I have always been flexible so my dds could be with their inlaws, so I feel like dd2 should cut us some slack. I keep telling myself that if I hear any more complaining about this, then I will tell her next year it is her turn.

I am hoping to hear from the loan officer today that the appraisal has come in. Dh has a 4 day weekend and we could start painting the ceilings but we don't want to do that until we know for sure what the loan appraisal is. The loan officer did say yesterday that we are set for the Dec. 1 closing date.

Dgd7months has started crawling on her knees instead of army crawling and is she ever fast. She also pulls up to everything. I am sure she will be walking at 9 months. For quite awhile now you can just see in her face that she wants to be walking (running) with her dsis2.

Well I guess I better eat, do meds and take a bath. I need to go to S ams today plus take the recycling to the drop off. Then I need to start pies and make the refrigerator dough for homemade rolls.

Hope you each have a productive day as you get ready for tomorrow.

You can do anything, not everything.
So true! When I was lying in bed this morning the thought that came to me was: "Wing it Wednesday" so I'd say that's pretty close to those 'everything' types of jobs. Do what we can and improvise.

Don't have to do much for Thanksgiving here. We've decided to have a nice breakfast before DD, dsil and dgd leave for Flagler beach for the weekend. We're dog-sitting. Then on Sunday (after church) we're leaving for the gulf with dbil/dsil. I'm not especially looking forward to this trip. We're staying longer and our rooms will not be looking out on the Gulf as they have in the past. None of those were available -so it will mean trekking to the beach and sitting out there -I'm not very good at that. DSIL wanted to stay longer this year. Problem is I'm 'trapped' by the smoking -which I know is bad for me. Oh well, this too shall pass.

When we return, dh has 1 day until the Christmas Parade. He, dd and dgd are in at school working on the float right now. Her team's float this year is (the theme is "All I want for Christmas") a military theme with military returning home. their jazz band will be playing the military medley and they have lots of patriotic things on there. I've got to be sure dh gets pics before they take off on Thursday. I'm pretty sure there won't be a dry eye on the judge's stand. ;)

Been doing computer things and I need to get myself moving while the house is quiet.

Taking a break; challah is rising, second batch is in breadmaker and brownies are made, including marshmallows on top with icing. Brownies may have a slight "fruity" smell because had to use olive oil instead of veg oil. Hopefully, the chocolate overload will disguise that.

Need to get rolling again:
-kitchen clean up
-reboot laundry
-meds + vitamins, me & ddogs
-mix up broccoli casserole
-get challah into oven

Harriet, I thought I saw that you shopping and library were two hours away! That would have been a huge chunk of your day.

Sigh. Here I am happy to have my dkids home, and the family room is all disarranged this morning from their late night activities. DD did ask why the house was so clean when she got in last night.

LOL at Twins dd wondering why the house was so clean. It does make a difference when you don't have kids at home.

Houses are always nicely organized / cleaned when the dkids aren't there, right Twins?

Hmmm, I still have toys to put away from when DD1 & family was here.

I'm so behind in everything. ...sigh

Thought I was making progress, Monday started to feel better, but that didn't seem to last and I feel as if I'm going the other direction. If I wasn't going to be out of town for this holiday I might have tried something a little more drastic, but don't want to be at somebody's house with that. I have a diverticuli (sp?) like little place that has decided to act up recently. I'm sure tired of all the pains.

Eating Yogurt every day, Act i via helps but has seemed to quit working. Trying to get more water.

Yesterday I did a bunch of shopping, but that totally wore me out and I couldn't do anything else once I got back home. After a nap last eve. I managed to drag myself out to kitchen and make pumpkin pie and apple pie and homemade cranberry sauce to take with us tonight. I don't feel up to this trip for sure. But we gotta, and a day or two extra at DD2's house helping with some other tile work while we're up there...

I think I'm gonna be a couch potato there. Sounds good to me!

But I'm thankful for all of you who listen to my grumblings over and over and never criticize.

Here's my list:
Clean/vacuum car
shopping trip out for last minute things (bag of ice etc.)
packing
picking up house
emptying dishwasher, folding laundry, packing
charge camera
stop at bank and engineer's office for letter (hopefully its there)

Ak this is too much. Here I go.
