I know there is nothing simple about any day at this time of year but I can pretend, can't I?!!!

Wait! It isn't too late to adjust our expectations for ourselves and simplify our plans.

So I challenge you to go through the day thinking about ways you can simplify your expectations and build some breathing room in to the days ahead so you can enjoy people and experiences.

My adjustment to plans will be to ignore the 2 dozen overly brown/burned cookies that I made for the cookie exchange (in pretty shapes) and take MamaPs gooey bars instead. Those are pretty near no-fail for me and quick enough to make that I should be able to get them done between church and the cookie exchange at 2. If that doesn't work, I did get a pan of lemon squares made so I'll take those.

I have a really bad track record with cookies baked in shapes so I should probably stick to drop cookies, they just don't look as festive!

That's what I've been doing -simplyfying wherever I can. Did it yesterday with dgs7's Christmas presents, and with presents for dd and dh -let A m a z o n do the walking! Now to hope they really get here before Christmas!

Time for meds, breakfast & church.

I have lowered my expectations for Christmas celebrations and will focus on the blessings.

Today PODA -
** SSchool & church
** resting. I'm going to force myself to lay down for a couple hours this afternoon. Doesn't matter to me if I spend it reading, napping, or counting the bumps on the ceiling....but I am going to lay there the entire 2 hours.
** Menu planning
** goal = complete triple digit # of cards. In the 3 hours I've been awake today I have completed 37 of them so I am 1/3 the way there!

Great theme today. Now is the time to simplify.

OKay I just love seeing your card count each day. I thought that postponing the court session may not be bad. I know it prolongs the process but the angry judge will remember.

A moment's peace so I've cuop and will update my progress.

I have a super simple, 4 ingredient, recipe for cookies that uses cake mix. I pressed it into use and easily had 3 doz cookies in a half hour. I chose devil's food cake mix and chocolate chips this time. I've dusted the finished cookies with icing sugar so they look festive.

I'm relieved.

Before church I got the church-family cards finished and wrote out the end of year cheque for the church (I figured out the charitable donations while on the treadmill this morning.)

Church went well. We didn't have an anthem because the tenor from the other church had been 'rented' to sing this Sunday (part of the talent auction.) Dh and I whipped over to the second service and sang with their choir since we had learned their anthem last night during the choir practice part of the party. That went ok and gave dh a second chance to sing the bass-line to It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. He's only been singing base for just over 3 years and finally learned this bass-line.

We got home, I had leftovers from last night for lunch and then did the baking. I have to change my panty-hose before heading out because I put a run in these ones but aside from that and packing up the cookies, I'm ready to go. Oops, just remembered I have the neighbourhood cards to do.

No time to cuop. We are under a winter storm warning starting tomorrow into Tuesday. I am trying to get as much moved over as I can so that I will have something to do while I wait for the washer/dryer to be delivered tomorrow and for the phone, cable and internet to be installed on Wednesday.

We are going to dd2 at 6:00 for supper and dgs6 birthday party.

Better go. I am thinking of all of you as I work.

Well. I am posting from my home. I did not run away. Tempting as it may be.
We had a great time in Nashville -- saw the Rockettes -- a first for both of us, and much more enjoyed by me than by dh, LOL.
Ate @ a Japanese steak house w/dbil, dsisil, and some of her family. Did some shopping for baby-on-the-way. (DH is definitely going to be an indulgent grandfather. He insisted that the baby have cowboy boots and a Grand Ole Opry t-shirt. LOL)
Went to Grand Ole Opry. Home by 1:00 a.m. and at least one of us made it to church (me).

Exhausted now, but duty continues to call. I've been to CVS & now we must go to retirement party for dfriend. Then visit dinlaws. I feel the need to visit my parents, but I am going to decline that guilty urge. I have had a sore throat and cough all weekend and I don't think ddad needs to be exposed to anything right now. I'm feeling better, but it is mostly due to M*sinex, I think.

DH is really considering getting me an iPhone for Christmas. Do y'all think I could learn to use it? I have whined about wanting one for so long... but I don't know if I really want one or not. I'm afraid it will be just TOO complicated and TOO expensive w/the monthly bill.
