Monday staying aware of my time

I stayed aware of my time and zoomed through those errands as apposed to meandering around. I got home and spent 4 hours planting my containers. I wasn't tired, even though I didn't not sleep very well last night. I kept mentally checking on my progress and how I felt. Think I worked just as hard as I would have when I was younger.
I enjoyed reading about Cowinkle discoveries, especially the "I stayed aware of my time". The day always seems to go better when i use the time/timer to keep me aware.
Take care of the minutes;
the hours will take care of themselves.

Good morning Okay and all who follow. Thanks for opening this morning. I needed the reminder to stay of aware of my time.
Dd2 and the kids arrived at her friends, late yesterday afternoon.
It is suppose to be high 70's and low 80's here for the next week.
Yesterday the phone rang with 13 laps left in the Nascar race and our favorite driver, Tony Stewart in first. It was someone wanting to look at the house. They were there in the driveway. I told them I would be right there. Dh thought I was nuts, but I told him that I wasn't turning anyone down. They liked the house and have been pre-approved for $3000.00 less than our asking price, but that includes closing costs. As long as closing costs are $4500.00 or less, we would still get what we hope to have for our bottom dollar. Dh wasn't real keen on that at first, but I pointed out that if we have to wait several more months, we are going to be losing a bunch of money for utilities, advertising and taxes. Not to mention yardwork at both houses. Since they are pre-approved we could probably close in a month. Later they called again and wanted to know the measurements on the bedrooms. We ended up meeting them there again so they could measure. The bedrooms are on the small side. They have large bedroom furniture. He told her they could take out the wall between the smallest bedroom and the one next to it and make a large master bedroom. So we will see if they decide to go forward or not. Tony won the race!
Well I better get with it............

I, too, enjoyed reading about how much more productive Cowinkie was when keeping aware of time. The computer is, IMHO, one of the biggest time suckers ever invented!! Yes, it's fun, and yes, it helps us keep in touch with faraway family, and it's an awesome tool and all that...but it's also VERY easy to overuse it! When my kids were much younger, and I was a SAHM, I had this wonderful card system in place, and it took me 45 mins - 1 hr to get my dailies/weeklies done every day. Once a week or so, I had heavier cleaning days that took 2 - 3 hours. My home was pretty much always company ready, I had time for my kids and my garden, and even found the time to write a book! Although I admit this was 20 yrs ago when I had more energy, it was also a time when I didn't have a computer in the house! I have my timer here on the bookcase beside me (and another one upstairs), so I'm going to use it today to keep myself more on track.
So far this morning, I've made one DPC, fed the cats, taken out the trash, and taken my meds. I'm allowing myself 5 more minutes on the computer then it's time for a round...
- downstairs critter care
- upstairs critter care
- put away folded laundry
- check to see if there are any drop in yoga classes at the city rec centres (the one we were starting up at work got cancelled as several people dropped out at the last minute)
- finish cleaning the bathroom (it's only been a work in progress for the last month or so
)

Good morning! I am up and have taken DD10 to the orthodontist. I had to get up an hour and a half earlier than normal so I am dead tired. I missed church on Sunday due to the time shift which created sheer exhaustion. I slept until about noon, without waking up, so I needed it. I survived morning with DD, one down, 5 to go. It is confirmed, she does have a broken wrist. A shoplifter was chased by cops into her school and caught there. When the officers tackled the suspect, one boy was knocked over. He has had counseling, I assume he was not injured. When the suspect went into the building, they called lockdown. DD fell while getting to where she was supposed to be. She was probably the only injury.
DD has already been trying to test the rules in my house. She wanted to eat dinner in front of a movie. I said no to that but snacks were ok. She wanted to sleep in my bed with me. Absolutely not if I want to get any sleep! It's hard enough with the cats! She got up several times after being put to bed. I finally had to threaten no movies the following night to get her to stay in bed. I so need a nap now.

Oh, poor dd, Elizabeth. I hope her healing is speedy. Does she have pain meds? I also feel sorry for the little boy, but in that situation, we can be thankful things were handled quickly. What a reckless thing to do - involving an elementary school to attempt to run from police! I'm sure some judge is going to be very firm with punishment for that man.
Cards are versatile, Cowinkie. I've learned there are many ways to "tweak" to my advantage, and it is freeing to be able to change about so quickly. If something isn't working, toss-and-rewrite takes little time, or a post-it bit holds a reminder in a second. Lately I've been noticing that the "rotate through this series" type cards are helping me a lot. My days are never the same and lately my weeks are seldom the same, either. But the "next up" concept offers consistency (and comfort!).
Oh, enjoyed reading bittersweet's cardfile thoughts, too. Yes, screens of both the entertainment and informational type pull at us! Your description of previous cardfile experience sounds ideal.
lucylee, upon retirement, you may find you can thrive on cards, since they are somewhat reminiscent of the order involved in (the pleasant kind of) school record-keeping.
I've done a small washing of dd13's black embroidered school sweatshirt and folded her socks from yesterday left in the dryer.
Ds26's birthday pie is begun with the first layer chilling. (Kathryn's dd is almost 27, too!) What a nice age.
Have made a DPC to the specialist dr office for my ddad, where they have dropped the ball on getting his appts straightened out.

Grrr, Harriet, hate when someone drops the ball they should be bouncing!!
Went with dh for his walk. Have to admit mine are much too short.
Rained quite a bit here late yesterday. DD took gd to Disney parks and managed to get fairly wet. GD was pretty good (of course that was without having anyone else around).
Going to Wally World in a few to get some needed things. Either dh or dd is going with me. (Someone has to stay with gd and here she is almost 14). Oh well, it is what it is.
Now that we're down to the nitty gritty dh is thinking of all sorts of people he wants to go visit before he leaves in 2 1/2 weeks. DD is on spring break this week so hate to fill in too much this week. We are going to see my old best friend from high school on Wed. She was also my maid-of-honor oh so many years ago. Actually dd was named for her. Looking forward to that -it's been a number of years since we've seen them. And now she lives only about 40 minutes from us when we're down here -New Jersy up home.
Hope to be back later. Need to go back and look at yesterday's posts to see the discussions about time awareness.

Peeking in
I got up and put on clothes right away. I have accomplish much more than I thought I would during this time. Have more to write, but need to refocus
However can't leave w/o commenting to Elizabeth. When my ds washout dd age he lived with his father. He too would want to sleep w me. Though I didn't think it was appropriate it dawned on me what he really was missing was me, his mom. I tried to see the situation through his eyes and thought how difficult it must have been to not have the comfort of his mom. So I came up with this solution... My son went to sleep in his own bed, but if he woke up in the middle of the night feeling uneasy sleeping in a strange place or just had the need to be close to me, he could make a palet on the floor next to my bed. Some mornings when I awoke he wAs there and sometimes he wasn't. Years later he was able to express how scared he was some of those nights and just being near me helped. Eventually I bought my ds a dog that he could sleep with but sometimes nothing takes the place of your mom lol
Running , I spy GREMLIN !!!!!!!!!

Harriet: DD does have tylenol with codeine but it is liquid. It tastes nasty. I had to pay her $16 to take one dosage and that was when she was whimpering. Now she gets children's tylenol every 4 hours. I wish she would take the stronger stuff, but she won't.
Cowinkie: I don't have any sort of pallet she could stay on and I can't let her stay in my bed. She is using it as a delaying tactic I think. I did let her stay in my bed on Saturday because she said her arm hurt and I felt sorry for her. That was my mistake and I remembered why I don't like to let her sleep in my bed. She tries to stay awake and talk to me. Then she scrunches up next to me and I can't sleep.
