Cool Tuesday

Post by BookSaver »

Good morning, villagers ~

Just stepped outdoors and it feels much cooler than yesterday. We need some rain, but cool is ok. I should open a few windows to get some fresh air into the house.

Enjoyed reading all of yesterday's pages.

Poor Willis.

Harriet ~ It looks like you had a better day. I'm sorry you're having so many "sandwich generation" challenges.

Yesterday's focus was cleaning and laundry. This afternoon I'll be running errands, so this morning must figure out menu and grocery list.

Okay ~ Please share the cauliflower recipe you mentioned a couple of days ago.

We are cool and sunny right now.

Ds is off to work, dd16 off to school. Dh is sleeping in until 9 to help him adjust to the upcoming time change. He went to bed late last night too. I insist on getting up with the kids so I'll just deal with the time zones when I get there. I won't be hitting the ground running, giving papers, etc. once there like dh will. . .

Lots to do today, lots of errands. I think I'll start with the a.m. routine. I need to get in some laundry today too. May be back later with a li&t.

Bookie, we still have a chance of rain today, but it's quite humid when the sun comes out! Today I am supposed to me dh and builder at new house at 1:30, then a meeting at temple at four (with the secretary, re last week's issues) and another at 5:30. I need to do some prep for the 5:30 meeting and should do a tiny bit of organizing thoughts for the 4 p.m. meeting.

Ideally, this would be a good day to weed because of the rain we've had, but I don't think that's in the cards.

PODA:
-meetings
-prep for meetings
-routines
-list of phone calls
---bllinds
---closets (2)
---realtor
---DPC - for temple which I've procrastinated for days
---former temple chairperson re: roof

Yesterday I packed up a box of crystal bowls, vases and stuff - I really should have used a smaller box because it's heavy. Started in on tableclothes, cloth napkins and placemats and decided to leave them for later. Then pulled out some decorative stuff that is stored, and packed up some of that. So I have several messy areas all over the house. I am using a small notebook to record what is in each box, and numbering the boxes to correspond the notebook list, which may assist us in locating things later. Because the new house doesn't have "built ins" like this house, there is some that may stay packed for quite a long time, until we can put in the built ins.

I'm thinking I should probably let up on some routines and do just enough to keep me the health department from stepping it?

Good Morning!

I slept in this morning - 2 hours past my normal wake up time. I'm just going with it and assuming my body needed some extra sleep.

Yesterday turned out to be hotter than expected. I saw a couple local thermometers showing over 100 degrees. We had a good breeze which made it feel comfortable to be outside. Our typical summer days usually include 2-4 hours outside at the minimum. We keep the a/c around 80 in the house which makes chill bumps happen when we come indoors. :)

I started using cauliflower in LC Mexican Rice recipe last year. I have tweaked that basic recipe to make it our own (more spices). I like every LC recipe I've tried at that website. IMHO it is an invaluable resource for anyone doing LC.

We are going to a lake about an hour away for our picnic/fishing lunch today. I'm making one of our favorite LC picnic meal to take with us - chicken salad wraps, served with pork skins. E-a-s-y to make, portable and OH SO GOOD!! :)

We will pick up a load of chemicals for MPB on our way home. Nap time will be delayed or even OBE today, but LO is fine to miss one nap. Note to self.....he will be ready to go to bed earlier than normal tonight.

Up and really not "at 'em". Been doing a printout for dh to take to the Dr this morning. It's been raining very steadily.

DH is still experiencing 'discomfort' pretty continuously. That's a 'good' thing at this point. Maybe Dr. can figure out something. My hope would be (right!) that if he's continuing to experience this right now perhaps Dr. can get him in sooner for his endoscopy and maybe just maybe I could be right? (GERD -in the extreme).

Harriet, lots of hugs for all you do. I think of you all the time. I don't know what I/we would do without this loving village.

Better s2s, wash my hair and get ready for the day. It will consist mostly of running. Have shopping to do after the Dr. Have banking to do. Have to stop and give the dentist a $200. Hate doing that!

Twins' Mom, at a local store, there is a freestanding poster-holder that says, "Relocating to better serve you. Please excuse our mess." Why don't you just place something like that inside your entry and use most of your time for the work of the move!

I had such a perfect healthy habits day yesterday with very light meals. Still, I'm just "even", says the scale. I guess that's positive. I'll eat to my normal calories today, though.

Dd and I (well, she doesn't know it yet) are going to spend several hours of the day at my parents' home decluttering. I love her dearly, but how I wish I had dd32 instead, both for knowledge of values and for sheer force of will to get things done. I'm sure it would seem that ds27 would be help, and he is for any heavy lifting, but for decision making he is bewildered.

Cowinkie, you had my weather pegged yesterday. Dd and I were rained on getting groceries out of the store and rained on getting them into the house. Interestingly, the whole drive home there wasn't a drop! We were so weary yesterday from lack of sleep that HRH left the chicken feeder in their yard and rainwater ran into it from their shade cover. Sigh. That was a chore.

Hope Willis is better.

Thinking of Mr. DeeClutter at his appointments today.

Norma, how ya feelin'?

Yesterday was busy dgd was here in the a.m. for a couple hours. I called older dgds and they came on their bikes and were here saw dgson when he got off the bus we walked they played enjoyed cable and older dgd crochet granny squares for an unknown project. When h. came home he grilled burgers we ate with the grands that were here that was nice.

It's cool here today also plus we have a bit of rain I took the trash out here & did the neighbors up the street as well I said I would do that and did not want it stinking up their garage. Last night I walked their dog last night as well. The dog that folks are on vacation has been barking at night. I do not know what to do about that. They usually kennel him but the kennel was full. Other kids up the street are feeding it watering etc. during the week I'm just fill in for 2 days next week. ~Sigh~ I'm SO thankful I do not have a pet at the moment for that reason even though we do not go much. Dogs are barking next door but I was up before them today =D.

Breakfast is done
Coffee and beds are made.
Journaling done.
Trying to update my pc prog. now.

-clear kitchen counters
-call blind lady
-s2s
-make bed
-put away a large basket of laundry

Frustrated because we had a brief power outage, and I was unable to get the internet working again for awhile. I was getting the router signal, but not access outside the modem to the internet. Have piddled with it so it's working now. Ds had to do the same thing yesterday or day before. Trying to hold off and just have it set up when we get to the new house.

Also...on hold - we need to decide whether to drop the house phone or not when we move. We'l have to change phone numbers. My cell phone doesn't work well enough here to drop the house phone but will at the new house. Also, cordless phones here are ancient - we only have two of the three right now (should offer ds a reward for finding the other one?) and of those two, one won't charge. And, as I've commented before, if I'm on our house phone the internet doesn't work! At this point it's about a month to the move date.

And, have put away the laundry and made the bed while piddling with the modem, but now ds or his friend who spent the night is in the shower.

So....
-clear kitchen counters
-call blind lady
-call the second closet company
-whoops, take out the garbage!
-call invisible fence guy

Note I still haven't done DPC. :o

Twins' Mom, when you move, you just notify the phone co and take your home phone number "with" you, right? I like home phones. I think it makes for a lack of communication between me and ddil, for instance, that we never talk on the phone. Ds hasn't had a home phone since he got the house, and when they got married, ddil just ignored the situation and kept their two cellphones. So rather than our household ever calling their household, we pick between the two and of course always choose our own child. It took years for me and dstepdil to get so we call each other and chat, and that hasn't happened yet with ddil. Oh, well.

Tobias brought us a present of a mouse this morning. Oh my. On the one hand, of course I realize no human is ever far from a mouse, but on the other we've been so blessed to never deal with them for so long. Dd13 saw it first, which was fine except that she over-reacts a bit. She ran for her Daddy. I hope he appreciates that she needs him. This from a girl who studied the baby slugs on the back steps for a half-hour this morning after outdoor chores. Slugs, fine, but a mouse? Yikes, yikes, yikes, yikes, yikes, yikes!
