Thursday Auditions

[OKay]

Auditions are being held for the following characters for the movie The Village:

Harriet...strong, family first kind of a gal with liking to the simple way of life...must look good in an apron and like chickens.
Twins..... Lover of numbers, love of God, community oriented woman who is known to zip around town with her hair carelessly blowing in the wind.
Indiana...Mother of the Earth, steady, loving and compassionate....must be mechanically inclined while being attached to machines and breath makers. Must love dogs!!!
Jake...can play himself No one could take his place
Elizabeth...must be able to demonstrate knowledge of spreadsheets and have the ability to captivate the audience with her newly morphing personality; a caterpillar to beautiful butterfly by learning to lead a new life.

Auditions begin tomorrow at 6am Eastern time.
Please feel free to suggest who can fill these positions.
You may cast your ballets earlier if you wish.

We are up and at it fairly well despite an awful night's sleep. At 3, I opened the windows in the bedroom just to get fresh air. It was only 2 degrees cooler than inside and more humid but I was desperate for fresh air. Slept better for the next 2 hours but woke at 5:15 and haven't been to sleep since.

Praise report: I found my rain jacket!!!! It was on the floor of the closet, with the black lining showing (as opposed to the lime green exterior) and then dh put his travel chin up bar on top of it and that is in a black bag so I couldn't see it when I looked on the floor. I had settled on a backup rain coat to put in the car (the whole week we are at the beach it is to be low 60s and rain) and then put the chin-up bar by the back door and when I went to close the closet door, caught a glimpse green.

I'm sure I haven't packed the right clothes because when it is 100 and sunny it is hard to pack for 60 and rain. But everything fits into a carry on suitcase (except for my dress and fleece sweater which will be hung up in the car.) Dh has also fit into a tiny suitcase. Of course, our shoes are in a separate bag and things like my pillow and the medicine kit and books are also in separate bags. When we fly, everything we take has to be in one bag. In the car, separate bags work better because they can be crammed into nooks and crannies.

This morning is repeat of several other days this week. I'll drive DParents to town and attend doctor visit with DMom. This one is with our family doctor (has cared for four of our generations). He has sent DMom to a couple specialists and they have made their recommendations, so today we are gathering back with DDoc to pull all the pieces of recommended treatment together. I am very thankful for having a family doctor we trust to guide us in making the best possible decisions.

While I'm in town, I'll pick up DGS17 & DGS15 and bring them to our home. I foresee some noisy times ahead with three rowdy boys/brothers together again.

Harmony touched on a subject that is heavy on my heart. A couple weeks ago I searched for/found some books on the subject of Grandparents and kinship as parents. After reading through a couple of those books, I'm feeling somewhat more at ease. The authors put into words feeling I have but didn't didn't know how to form sentences to describe them. I suspect is is similar to adoption where it is such a multi-layered experience touching on countless areas of our life that it is hard to roll it up into a neat little package and tie a bow around it with any attempt of completion.

Good morning, Okay (and any others who traverse the village today!) I've been up for 2 1/2 hours and am still in the recliner. Been doing a lot of thinking about 'things' and now need BGS to get moving. One thing I was thinking about was the difference between 'then and now'. Meaning when I was down home, growing up and now. Realized one big difference was that I was always on the move somehow. And now I spend way too much time sitting! No wonder I was skinny as a rail THEN and definitely not that NOW. I guess the secret is to "Move it, move it, move it". DGS12 used to sing that to me all the time!

Have to take DSGD12 to the orthopedist tomorrow. He just wants to recheck her neck. She had a whiplash injury a couple of weeks ago. (She and DGS12 both race a mini-stock and she had a collision with DGS). DGS had a Hans device (if you're in to NASCAR you'll know what that is). DSGD did not, but has one for when she starts racing again. They're quite expensive but funny thing was DGS's other grandpa bought one for her! I find that pretty amazing -that their families have come that far that he's (the other grandpa) is considering her as 1 of his grandchildren. Actually DGS12 is his only grandchild. DDIL was going to take her to the Dr. but the university has asked her to conduct another experiment on Friday between her ultrasound and Dr's appointment. She's so close to maternity leave that she didn't want to say no. So Grandma is the option. DDIL is always so apologetic when she does ask for help -doesn't need to be. That's what grandparents are for.

It's after 8 now and I'm still in my nighty. Haven't even had caffeine yet. So better, move it, move it, move it!

And BTW dear, dear Med Co sent the 'lost in mail" prescriptions MINUS the one he needs the most! So they're on my most DPC list this morning! His Dr put him on two a day instead of one -for his GERD!

Yes, Jake must play himself. There is no other dog as smart or cute as he is and he takes direction well - as long as he agrees.

I have no clue who should be me.

Dh and I were married 26 years ago today. One year ago today I moved into my new home. I love it here. I am thriving.

Shutting down now. Everything is packed except the cooler but we haven't packed the car yet. Plus we have to shut up the house now.

DD wants me to go to Wally world with her after she showers. I'm still debating. Think I'll see if I can make up a quick l**t and see if I really need to go.

Auditions Vote - While cooking breakfast this morning I thought about an actress to portray Indiana. I wanted someone who could play the role of someone who is strong, smart, independent thinker, loved by all who know her, brave, compassionate, loyal and a good problem solver. Which lead me to thinking about Abby on NCIS. Perfect! I vote for Pauley Perrette to play Indiana in our upcoming book/movie.

Indiana - nope! Just the 3 lawyers and judge meeting behind closed doors on Monday. More waiting and watching from afar for us. Hopefully we will find out Tues/Wed what the judge decided this time.

It's apparent that I need to do some CUOP later today - I haven't a clue where OKay might need to be on Monday, where K & K-in-C are travelling to, nor why auditions are taking place. Guess that's what I get for being away so much.

Life continues to be hectic here in Central Alberta - we're in our busy season at work, although it generally hasn't been as busy as in past years. My poor garden is desperate for attention, my house even more so, and the "wedding" gets closer by the day. DD is - of course- getting stressed about the amount of things still on the great 'todo' list, but has actually made remarkable progress in getting things done. Did I mention that she got her driver's licence a few weeks ago? It's given her a lot more freedom to get out and about without depending on others for rides

I brought home three new kittens from work yesterday - all girls. Two aren't so bad, but one is very hissy! She's going to need a lot of work to get her to come around. In mid-July they'll be off to a rescue in Calgary to finish off their socialization, get spayed, and be put up for adoption. There are also two little fluffball boys at work that I will probably end up bringing home - they're hissy little things, but quite young enough to bring around. They'll also be off to Calgary next month, and then I'm going to do my best to take a break for a few weeks. Probably won't happen, but a girl can dream, can't she?

It's my 'late' day today, so I don't have to be at work till 9, but I'd better get myself moving...there's critters to care for, laundry to fold, and if I'm really lucky, I'll get the living room vacuumed and the trash out.
