Pretty sunny here... HOT when we left church @ 10:00 a.m.
DGS made his debut @ church today... slept through the whole thing!
Dcousin/photographer is supposed to be making pictures of him this afternoon. I certainly hope she gets this done... been trying to schedule w/her since the 4th of July.

Today is her last chance to get pictures before he is a month old, b/c he will be visiting his other grandparents for the next ten days. I know we're going to be missing him! (But I know THEY have been missing him the last couple of weeks! He has two great-grandmothers, an uncle, and a bunch of great-aunts/uncles & cousins he's never met!)
I'm making a real effort to get myself back into some semblance of a routine for the next few weeks.
I've given up getting the house really "deep-cleaned" before school starts back. * sheesh * Guess that'll just give me something to think about NEXT summer, to take my mind off the fact that I have RETIRED.
I'm still really scared to take that step... but I do feel like the Lord has given me the nudge... w/dgs & everything. As a dfriend said, I've given enough time & energy to the young people of this community, now it is time to give some time & energy to THIS young person, dgs... and of course, dh is looking forward to the two of us having some free time. I really feel like he, ds, and ddil will sorta feel like I just don't care about any of them if I keep on working past May 2013.
And I DO love my summers, so why wouldn't I love an "endless" summer? Right now, I am looking forward to seeing my teacher friends, and meeting my new students, but OTOH, the thought of having to start getting up EVERY DAY @ 6:00 a.m. again... and having no freedom @ night, b/c I have to get up @ 6:00 a.m.... and having to deal with all the "new & improved" ideas that AREN'T... yeah... that thought just makes me groan.... sooo... I guess I AM getting ready to shift gears.
ANYWAY... although I've given up the dream of deep-cleaning the whole house from top to bottom... I AM trying to get back in the box, so to speak.
Sadie -- I am so excited for you as you get ready for this trip! I think y'all are going to have a WONDERFUL time! I understand your dh's anxieties sooo sooo well... but if he is anything like me, he will have a good time to, once he gets started.
I need to go back and check
Sunny's posts... I've completely missed the museum link...
Lilac -- thanks for the encouraging words last night. I am s...l...o...w...l...y beginning to feel more "confident" -- I guess that's the word -- in my new role as "grandma." I don't feel like I fit the image of MY grandmothers, or dmom, or dmil... but I sure am enjoying holding him & watching that little face, that's for certain. A grandchild really IS a "little bundle of joy," isn't it?
WTG w/the cooking lesson,
Harriet's dd13!
Waving to
EVERYONE!!! Hope y'all have a great day!
