I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

Good Morning!
Harmony - thanks for asking about DBrother shoulder surgery recovery. It is a miracle. Plain & simple. He is already doing things the doctor said were going to be impossible. Yesterday I watched him use his bad shoulder/arm to REACH UP over his head and grab hold of bale spear and use it to pull himself up on the back of flatbed. Then he used that bad arm/shoulder to lift a 5 gallon (40 lbs??) pail of hydraulic fluid and poured it into bobcat while straddling 2 vehicles (awkward position requiring stronger muscles). AMAZING! I am fascinated to watch DBro use it while remembering the surgeons telling the family the surgery was a complete failure and describe how DBro arm would useless and tied to him.
Speaking of miracles......DNephew/DNeice had baby boy last week. He was 4 weeks early but all was fine......until 48 hours after his birth (Saturday evening when he started having tremors. The decision was immediately made to send him to a special NICU so they loaded DNeice and baby into a helicopter and air lifted them to big city hospital an hour away. Baby Boy is doing fine now and will be released to come home today.
Anyone do MyFitnessPal and interested in being in a group together?
I probably should cut/paste parts of this post into different thread (J&C and H&F) but need to get going or LO will be late for school. I'll try to come back and do it later.

Good morning!
Why does it always seem that my weight goes UP the morning after I start to exercise?
Well... today, I'm sure the large number of Christmas cookies I ate last night have something to do with it.
I am s2underwear... and have eaten breakfast... and have done my daily Bible reading... and 5 minute exercise... and re-filled the humidifier... and awakened dh, who is going on his annual Christmas shopping/college basketball excursion w/ds.
After a day of lock-in... * sigh *... my possibilities are wide open --
? babysit dgs for ddil who has not been feeling great the last couple of days
? take dmom shopping
? wrap presents
We shall see what tasks this day holds.
Lots of small tasks, but I shall determine to do them as if they were great tasks...

Concert last night was fantastic. This is the 5th year in a row I've been going to band concerts at this high school, and I think this was the best winter concert yet. The band director had chosen interesting and varied pieces; some involved sound effects, like students moaning (Purgatorio), yelling (a piece depicting a war), clapping, brushing pieces of paper on the floor, using the keys of their wind instruments for sound effects -- plus just awesome playing.
Warning - raving ahead: We found out last night that our high school is a 2013 Grammy Signature Semifinalist School! This means our music program has been ranked among the top 129 in the nation. We'll find out in the spring if we're a finalist. I think they cycle through different schools each year; we've been Grammy before, even Grammy gold in the past, but not since my kids have been there. Our main competitor high school in town has been Grammy gold? 2x in the last 6 years - among the top 5 (or 4?) high schools in the nation. I think once they were #1. They've been Grammy gold before this too. Feeling so blessed my kids can be a part of this awesome music program! Trying not to feel competitive with our rival school across town. . . . LOL!
My girls commented that more teachers locked doors yesterday at school. But it sounds like they didn't all lock doors. I think they keep an armed officer on school grounds; at least, when ds was there, he talked about the police officer playing chess with him at the chess club.
This school have a very broad range of students.
Today: lots o tasks to do, especially since I wasted so much time yesterday.

It is not clear whether we are having date night tonight or not. Dd14 isn't interested b/c she'll be home for 45 minutes then away again for 3.25 hours to her lesson and then synch. swimming. She can't eat until nearly 8 p.m. as it is. .

OKay - That is great news about DBro, I had shoulder surgery almost two years ago and it still bothers me occasionally. I am so glad that DNiece & DBaby are doing well.

OKay: I, too, was wondering about your dbrother. Thanks for the update - we need to hear about the Christmas miracles.
Harmony: Hopefully you can come here today and spend a day just hanging with us, doing the small tasks that will help you regain your sense of competence.
I did nothing yesterday (my only free day until Friday) but still feel competent because the foyer tree is up.
Today is a snow storm and we are driving in it all day. Oh well. Off we go!

Its great to hear your brother had made his shoulder work for him. Bravo to him for not being hampered by a negative prognosis.
Prayers it continues to get stronger and lasts well into his future.
My day would have been better if I concentrated on small tasks ...

walked dog and cooked dinner tonight - lid on frypan set on low cooked meat and veg well.

Alrighty! LO delivered to school along with library book, Monday folder (signed) and 2 dozen cupcakes for his snack day.
I haven't seen any changes to LO school security. The doors to the classrooms and bathrooms still stand open 99.9% of the time. I'm fine with that. I consider the danger level about equal with going to a movie theater, shopping at a mall, eating at Luby's restaurant or any of the other places that have experienced senseless attacks.
DGS6 school has a program for the Dad's to be onsite at the schools. DSon has been a volunteer WatchDOGS at DGS6 school.
Not directly related to the school shooting, but it did push me into action on getting my license to carry a gun. It is something the local police and DH have been suggesting i do for several years because of MPB being cash based which supposedly makes us a target for crazy and/or desperate people. DH has a license to carry a gun and almost always has one nearby. I know most people feel strongly about guns (one way or another). I don't mean to offend if you feel differently.
I will be leaving in an hour to pick DMom up to take her to regular doctor appt. I'll give DH a call on my way so he stop whatever he is doing and go stay with DDad.
Gearing up to see how much I can do in an hour.

It is a golden day here. As the sun peaked over the eastern mountains, the light was golden. With all the adobe houses around us and the yellow sand in our yard it is truly beautiful. The one RV in my line of sight has quite a bit of silvered metal on it and is reflecting back the light.
I don't think I posted yesterday - we went to Park Beautification and then came home and I carved out one of the dalas. It just needs a bit of sanding and then will be ready to paint. I carved another one later in the afternoon. It is chilly in the garage as I need to leave the big door open for light. I have to get them all done and ready for paint today. In fact, my goal is to get at least one coat of paint on them by tonight.
Wouldn't you know that now that I'm really watching my BS, DD#2 sent us a big box of her home made cookies? The are soooo good. I think she said she sent out 2100 cookies that she and her DH had made.
Since last summer's family reunion she has been in touch with my sister's DD. They are so much alike - altho about 16 years apart. It is nice to see them keep in contact.
Time to get my rear in gear. TTFN
