Happy Valentine Day to each of you!

I'm learning fast how things have changed since my children were in school. Celebrating Valentine Day is much bigger deal than it used to be. DDIL sent me pictures of DGS6 pirate ship valentine box. Also special ordered valentines cards including DGS6 picture. I didn't know all this was done. Poor little LO will have to get by this year with store bought cards (he worked hard for couple hours writing his name on each card) and a cereal box covered and decorated to be his Valentine Box. I've been told several of the children will receive candy grams, flowers, and such delivered to them in school today. Really? in Pre-K?

Today is all day Master Gardening class for me. I'll need to leave a little early from class to pickup LO and take him to birthday skating party that requires a 30 mile drive (one way).

I had a call just before I left work last night that has thrown my day today for a loop. I now have to go see a patient for the West-End office before I see the patients for the downtown office... in other words a busy day and a busy evening having to do my prep last night rather than this morning.

Need to get a move on it since I haven't done much of my SDR & GRWR yet. I have class tonight so it will be a long day.

Next week the other granny is having surgery on Mon. so I have the grand kids for her part of the week too.

Up, fed doggies, drinking coffee...sunny day so maybe I'll work in the backyard. First need to pick up the footprints around here.

Okay... At my jr hs Valinines Day is a big deal with the kids. I call it 'Braggin' Rights Day". Girls like to parade around the school showing off all their prizes...flowers, including roses, candy and stuffed animals of all sizes are every where. The office makes every one able their gifts and these are kept in the conference room until after school. The school considers the gifts distractions and announces this procedure the day before.

The student council sells candy grams as a fun raiser. I think they charge $.25 for each one. Ever year my classes made valentine cards. I provided all sorts of supplies. My kids ages 13-15 loved it because many had little money or the opportunity to buy valentines. I knew this. I saw this as a teaching moment. Many of my kids who I no longer taught would come back the days before V-day and ask if they could stay after school so they could make one.

I have accomplished very little today and need to get busy.

HAPPY VALENTINE"S DAY!! I'm taking Julia Child's quote to "heart" today. Have made brownies (adding brewed coffee instead of the water called for) and have coffee ice cream to go on top. Will make DH his lasagna today. We ate out on Sunday and will let that be our official V-day outing.

One of my best Valentine's Days was in third grade when my friend got to walk home with me after school and we opened all our Valentine's together. Smiling to remember her today!

It's an odd day here. Statement I was doing with DH got redone several times with much discussion. It's grey and drizzley here. I took a walk before the rain started and had to hurry along as it got misty. DH didn't know I'd come home and jumped in his truck and was riding around the neighborhood hoping to rescue me from the increasing rain!

Been getting caught up on my studies. Dinner is leftovers so no prep there. I guess I'll just continue on with that for a while.

OKay, I think LO's valentine prep is just fine. I wish schools didn't make such a big deal about it, I'm sure some kids feel bad when they don't receive what others do. Cowinkie, that sounds so nice what you did for your students. I hope someone is picking up where you left off now that you're not there any longer.
