I love hearing of Nancy's chickens. I love that they instinctively know about roosting.
I've watched 3 ducks grow up next door. The hen who took them under her wing has let them go. They are a tight group though. Always together.

I looked at the tiny habits link OKay. I might have a go on paper. I do have my sticker charts on the go for dishes, and screens and living curfew, though I'm just adding a sticker for done, not counting the habit as lost if I miss a day. I'm not sure of the .... all or nothing thinking of missing sequential days. I think I need avoid that. So will leave exactly following it for now. Giving up if I "fail" would not be helpful. It's a new month in the morning. I'm not sure what my new habit/sticker chart will be. Maybe it will be bedroom lights out by midnight, as these last 2 months have that as an aim.
I used love another msg boards habit thread - where just remembering the habit and posting whether you actually did it or not counted. That really worked on my give up , self judgemental thinking.

Hoping for a better nights sleep tonight. Last night was very delayed to sleep.

It's morning again? oh yeah it must be -I'm up, s2s, breakfast done, meds done, bed made. Now it's time to head out the door for the school run.

Cooler out this morning, but certainly bearable. Think we're going to dbil/dsil's for a little while at least. Want to come back and really hunt for dh's missing house key.

Oh yeah, I can identify! My iPad battery had gone down in the night but I was pleasantly surprised that ddogs let me sleep until 5:20 without any of this 4 a.m. nonsense. Back at work, another day, more work.

I've been meaning to comment that last Thurs evening I had just walked in the door at home (normally would not have answered the phone) but I could see on caller ID that it was a "little old lady" genealogist on one of my "mystery" ancestors. I had corresponded with her several years back and never really got any help to substantiate anything. But...I had written her a long letter, which she said she had recently re-read, and she says she has it all figured out and is sending me some materials! I went ahead and wrote her a note and sent some $ for postage and copying but I'm excited to see what she has.

And in other genealogy news, a long-time genealogist lady on my "Hatcher" line passed away yesterday. It's been more than 10 years since I've "known" her and she was a force of nature in Hatcher research and the Hatcher email list.

It's nice to have some other things to occupy my mind.

Good morning, villagers ~

I'm trying to take care of Emails, a couple of loads of laundry, and bills this morning. Realized that we did not receive a bill for the mortgage this month, so had to pull a previous statement to find the mailing address and account number.

I have a full list of errands to run in The Big City this afternoon, and then will meet DH and a buddy at a Mexican diner for supper. Hopefully the plows are keeping up with the snow, which continues to flurry.

Helia ~ Sorry you lost so many big branches. This heavy snow is weird and wild.

Harriet ~ I'm with you, I don't understand why Duck Dynasty is on so late when it is definitely written for a family audience. I know they like to rerun the previous week's episode, but there's no continuing plot involved so the rerun could be the later show. Of course, I always record and watch later so it doesn't really matter to me. I probably won't get to last night's episodes until the weekend.

Hello everybody! I haven't been here much, just a weird frame of mind; a little sad, lazy, but trying today to pull myself out of these doldrums. Forgive me if I repeat something I've already said...

Tuesday afternoon we had power outage. Not snow, of course, but we had a lot of wind and we are in an area with lots of trees and a dead pine tree came down on some wires and our immediate neighborhood was all out. They were quick to fix, and less than 3 hours we all had power again.

Harriet, I got us out of that same big bank when they moved here. Each time my wonderful bank got bought out by someone bigger I was a little less satisfied with them and the last big bank to take over was the last straw. Every time I went there they tried to market stuff to me and it got really annoying. Everybody was called in for an "interview" where they tried to get me to open 3 accounts (unnecessary) with wrong information that had us worried... Technically the check thing, if you had checks going out not through the system yet that would bring your account down to $0, your cash would in that case be coming out of that check which wasn't yours. Big banks where the people don't know you personally or have long history with you are stricter about those things.

We did the best thing for us, opened an account with small county bank which has customer service galore and even an open lobby on Saturdays! I love them.

My studies are caught up for tonight's group. DH has a bad cold and is miserable. I do not want to catch it.

I need to do something productive. Hmmm..

Granny duty has begun dgd is still fighting a cough with a bit of a fever so her mom brought her Tylenol with her for this afternoon. She seems to have plenty of energy. We've mixed up cookie dough this morning to have for later. Dgd wanted to see the inside of a green egg and decided we needed to make cookies ~ it actually was on my "to do" list as we were out so that worked out great. Then later she had me "come look!" at one of the chicks sleeping on the top of the waterer she was so amazed at that!
Note to self take pics of chicks on Fri. so we will have a record of their growth on my phone camera for when dson helps get them on the p/c. They were born around Val. day an easy date to remember. 14-15th!

I've watched my knitting show.
I'm checking on movies that are playing this weekend. Not much I see that we can't live w/out hoping to see one we've been waiting to get as a rental maybe it will be in.

Ok, I need to get my act together.

It is still snowing here but melting when it hits the ground. My 35 minute commute was 60 and I was lucky, had I taken my regular route, it would have been 90. Going out of my way and staying on the freeway actually paid off.

The seminar is done, I have my certificate so can be re-licensed. And I know our church's sexual abuse policy. Don't do it. (Just kidding, but seriously, this shouldn't be rocket science. People should abuse not other people. My dd posted a link to a rape whistle. You give it to a boy and if he feels like raping someone he is to blow the whistle until others arrive to stop him.)

There wasn't any reason to stick around volunteering so I've been having lunch and will pick up a few groceries at Wally world and then head home. Using the highway again since it worked for me this morning. Need to hurry so I miss rush hour. And hockey game (the hockey arena is in the far west end of the area with only one major road to it so hockey nights are bad nights for highway traffic.)
