garden, church, an afternoon nap, visit to house bound friend , mtg, time to talk to another friend also.
asked for mowing to be done. Tomorrow I need do a yard pick up. Lots of fallen branched "down the back".
Its been interesting hearing of Kathryn and Ken's Maple Syrup process. I'm sure it is the extra organic matter, though the supply of moisture may be a factor too. It would be interesting to hear of any other trees similarly situated.
Harmony hope you recover soon. And OKay recovers from her dental work soon. After a filling I had long problems until I applied liberal rubbing in of sensitive type tooth paste.
I'm glad LO has made a switch of attitude.
Dinner is ready. Then I need to hope for rain free evening dog walk.
One cyclone looks like it is going away, but another is forecast to form this week in the north.
I was almost bogged in my unsealed driveway last week, and the puddle in the rut persists.
I need get a shovel to it. My car is parked across the end of my driveway in the mean time..
dinner eaten. dog fed and walked. Clouds co-operated along the way.

Good Morning Villagers!
Lynn...I hope you can stay dry tonight for your walk! Uugghhh, I can not imagine what all that rain would do to us here.
I am up at a good hour to get alot accomplished today. This last week was completely whacked out. So I am trying to get things back to a baseline here. As usual, there is a mountain range of laundry to tackle. That and the ironing of Dh's clothes for the week will take the bulk of my time. Other than that stuff, I am going to concentrate and at least getting all the stray things lying around back to their homes, and just a real good dust, vac and tidy. The grocery shopping and out and about errands were done yesterday, so thats good. I am skipping church this morning so as not to get my day chopped up again, and be able to accomplish what i need to today. To have the house in a reasonable state when I start my work week makes all the difference in the world as to whether or not my week goes smoothly or not. The world can fall apart, but if my home is cleaned and good order, it wont feel so bad to me.
Its going to be a warm and nice day today outside (nearly 60....very welcomed here) I want to be able to get out and get my car cleaned out.
Soooooo.......

LynLee - Thank you for the great start. (((Hugs))) on dealing with excess rain.
INE - I like how you put it!
get things back to a baseline YGG!
I'm up with tooth ache. It is not hurting bad like it was 36 hours ago so it is getting better.
Today PODA -
** church
** back to our town to check MPB and pick up DMIL
** drive to different town to pick up DGS17 and DGS15
** celebrate DH birthday (family gathering to eat together)
** LO nap
** get ready to start a new week.
Last night we went to a western store and scored big time
(seeming how much we detest shopping). In less than 30 minutes we bought DH new boots, LO new boot (both we very much needed) AND I found nice matching western shirts for LO and DH so their Easter clothes are ready. If all shopping could be that quick & easy, I wouldn't dread it so. And the frugal side of me loved it when we went to pay for everything and discovered the boot brand they selected were on sale so we got 20% off! I considered it a WIN-WIN-WIN moment.

The only down side was they didn't have any boots that I liked and no jeans that fit LO. So more shopping is still on the horizon for those 2 items.

Lynlee We have two more maples on our property but they are a lot younger and I'm not sure they are large enough to tap yet. They are out by the road on the corner of our lot (so it is asking for vandalism/meddling to put buckets on the trees.) Finally, they are no where near our septic system and were transplanted from my dad's property (we brought five saplings he found growing in his hedge and two survived the first winter.) So I don't think they'd be stupendous sap producers.
I have only a vague idea where this tree came from. The first owner of this property bought four fully adult trees from a local nursery. I know this because my next door neighbour tells of coming home from work one day and finding the view out her window had completely changed!
The oak was about 25 years old when transplanted and barely hung on for the first 2 - 3 years after we moved in (about 5 - 6 years after the transplant.) Someone told us that it would have taken that long for the tree to overcome the shock of the move. Now it is HUGE but thankfully is in the back corner of the property, so the only disadvantage to the size is that it shades my clothes-line and back deck. The deck shading was by design. And we built the kids play structure shaded under it so when you are on the second level of it, it feels like you are in the tree.
The second tree was a fir and it is getting awfully large but is out of the way. It reminds me of the firs around Whitepoint and was actually a selling feature for me when I bought the house.
The third was a willow which dh took out the second year we lived here. It was quite close to our neighbour's septic field so we took it out to be a good neighbour. I grew up playing in willows as a kid (I'd spend hours in the trees, hauling up a cushion and books to keep me comfortable) so it was hard for me to give up that tree.
Finally, the maple which is only 15' from the foundation on one side and on the septic field on the other side. It is HUGE now and dh fears for our roof if it splits, it blocks our gutters and there's so much shade between the house/hedge/tree that no grass grows in that part of the yard.
I love trees and since we've been here, we've taken down 9 of them, but still have a very treed lot (the Ice Storm took out several, lightening one, poor location and poor trees the rest.) She planted almost all the trees too close to the foundation or the property line. We have planted 3 more, so in total, we are only down 6 and have 10 on the property, all at least 20' high, some over 40'. We also have a 12' hedge around the back yard so it is very private (and buggy!)

Kathryn....Good Morning to you!
OK...Great job on the shopping scores! I too, dont like going to stores. But when I can save like you did, it makes it much more tolerable. Hope your tooth gets to feelling better.
I havent gotten very far in the last couple of hours. Got to reading some blogs online and copied down a tasty looking Cinnamon bread recipe. May try and make it while the laundry is going. There I go again, getting distracted from my original plan for the day. We'll see how things pan out.
Dh just got up, apparently he isnt going to church either. Going to finish round two now and contemplate round three. I have managed, to no surprise, to get myself wasting time, as usual.
Alright, I am going NOW!!!!!!

What a brave girl, Lilac. I hate to see police at the ER - something must have gone quite wrong somehow, I always think. You could take a snapshot of the bunny and post in Arts, Crafts, Needlework.
Crystallization of syrup - as I watched the clip of Dr. Richard Johnson I had mentioned before, he was saying if you ever see crystallization, know that that's because you have a good natural product there, and not anything man-made by chemical means. He says back before the early 80s you used to open ice cream, a candy bar, or many other products and see the crystals. And of course people would complain because it didn't look as nice, but his point was they didn't know how good they had it.
((Harmony)) Good job getting the chicken soup in, even if you didn't see immediate results. Couldn't hurt.
The friend of dd's had had a cold, she said, and a sniffle then, and I drank after her by complete mistake, which concerned me. That evening (Fri evening), whether all in my mind or not, I felt some symptoms of sore throat and start of fever. I grabbed dd and she and I each had 4,000 IU of additional D. I myself took a zinc (zicam) meltaway. Anyway, I'd forgotten about it until now, so absolutely no idea if it was necessary.
I missed the time reminder and it wasn't until HRH came to bed and told me that I remembered. He said he wished he hadn't said anything because then I got worried about today and couldn't fall right back to sleep.
I immediately began planning the hours and realized I'd not make it to church as well as the bridal shower.
Have visited my colorist - not too impressed with that right now. I may change brands again. As of last evening all 3 well-planned staggered-amount presents (Aunt Harriet's big box flatware from registry list, cousin dd33 pretty bagged gift card from registry list, cousin dd14's small box KitchenAid potato masher because everybody should have a potato masher) are wrapped and dd33's signature forged, lol. They look lovely if I do say so.
Oh, Ta Da to report - yesterday henhouse cleaned out and all new straw put down. Hens were scratching to their hearts' content.
Up next - check mapquest for the route to my neice's new home and decide when we should leave. Have an apple.
Hoping Mr. OKay has a happy birthday - new boots contribute to that for sure.

Happiest of happy birthdays to Mr. Okay and Lilac and others I've missed.
I am just now feeling like I'm getting the day started. I slept in very late, and even later with the new time. Have been up since 10:30 new time, have read the paper, had meds, walked ddogs and generally tried to clear my head. I'm very achy also have a headache, probably from so long in bed. I must have needed it, tho - I worked 67 hours this week and 85 this month - and I'm good with the 3/15 deadlines for now. It was great working yesterday on some of the 4/15 partnerships that have been sitting because other jobs were a higher priority.
Today I need to regroup, do some house clean up and head clearing, do some writing for a temple letter, get dog food (hoping dh will do that!) and generally GMAT, LOL.
First round:
-get dishwasher going
-clear kitchen table
-straighten great room
-sort and start a lol
-scoop the poop in yard - dh is going to do an early season mowing later.
