WM is letting us wear jeans and green shirts today. Hooray! a day without khaki and blue.

Good morning, and Happy St. Paddy's day! I am not working at payroll today - my day "off" but there's lots to do at home and a short day here to boot. DH reminded me this morning that we are going to a Hadassah dinner tonight - not something I would suggest doing during tax season but was on his agenda. We do have dfriends sitting with us at the dinner, so will be a chance for some socializing I guess.

I'm eating breakfast and beginning to get the day moving along. Dh has already set me off this morning, I'm probably being oversensitive but at least I recognize that.

This round:
-get dressed, brush teeth
-walk the ddogs
-clear the kitchen table
-start a lol
-straighten up great room

Dh is going to Lowes and I can turn off the TV now....the sound of quiet houses! Ds is home from GT, but still asleep.

This afternoon will be the first "official" day of Woodcarver's Week. I am going to try to learn relief carving. That is where the pattern is put on a flat board and I will carve it at different depths to make it stand out. Then it can be painted or stained or left natural. I have picked a really simple picture of a robin on a branch with some leaves. It will give me practice in all the different cuts I need to learn, including feathers and the roundness of the branch.

DH is doing better - walking (slowly) without any walker or cane in the house and with a cane other places.

Dishes are finally done and some of the house picked up. Need to get breakfast and meds out of the way and get dressed for church.

I'm done with that round...short walk with ddogs because I figure they will be in and out today. Dh is outside trying to cut down some of the mess of weedy shrubs and kudzu where our lot edge drops off. The kudzu isn't out yet so it's easier and less itchy to work there.

LynnL. Thanks for all the great quotes today! I will make stew today for the cold winter weather we are having. We went to the buffet they had a mint cheese cake last night that was so bad I could not even eat it the mint was so strong in it! [How do you make a stick out your tongue icon! LOL!]

Hens are fine except for the wind they do better in rain than the wind it seems, chicks are fine too. They look more like mini chickens than chicks at this point now that they have their feathers. I think next year I"ll order some rhode island whites so I can tell some of the apart.
I gave the dgkids a doz. eggs yesterday cut an egg carton in half so each could have 6 they've helped to collect! No new hens this weekend so far we are sort of relieved b/c of the cold temps. out.

Have a great rest of the day. We have a DVD to return well I enjoyed Argo. H. not so much.

Yesterday dgd & I transplanted some bulbs she always wants to do more digging, so I'll be looking for some pansies to put in next but I need to figure out where they will go in.

In the afternoon we enjoyed the H&G show dson's co. took up 6 spots and hauled in loads of sand to build a display with tall shurbs, a walk way, gas & glass outdoor fire pit feature with stone steps, and patio it is always the most impressive display up there. He does the pest control part of it. He had brochures they have made up he gave the print shop the content. His new boss had all good things to say about him, and dd as well she had been by that booth also.

I caught up with a gal I knew and we had a good chat.
I got a note book for my bag and a fist full of new pens!
We did the home depot date thing as well still on the hunt for a hatchet hangle no luck yet but it's fun to look and h. is enjoying the excuse to go to the sporting goods shops! LOL!

I'm looking for a small diaper bag for using when baby N. is here.

Our stay-cation has not got off to the best of starts. MPB has had 2 separate incidents this morning that required our attention. Hopefully MPB will cooperate the rest of the week. We would be extremely happy if it would go the next 6 days with no major floods, blow-ups, break downs, break in, crashes, equipment failures, etc and other typical happenings., DH told them this morning if it did happen, then flip the power off and put up a closed sign. We will take care if it next week.

I have managed to collect information for 3 trips for this week. I suspect all of them should be 2 days trips. However, knowing how LO doesn't travel well....one of them could be done in a day (there and back). We will see how it goes. I don't want to plan too much because I want to get away from typical daily activity of following a schedule.
It's nice to have options. We might just stay home and stay in our PJ's.

Hi Everyone and Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! I have my green shirt on.

Weekly routine was finished yesterday so house was company ready. However, there is no company this weekend as ds#1 had to work yesterday and today dgd18 is at work and her dm (ddil#2) is not feeling well, so they won't be here either. Today is a good day to relax and putter then relax some more! I watched a Dublin webcam on Earthcam.com for a few minutes and I'm watching Celtic Thunder on PBS now while I put my clean clothes away and change sheets on the bed. It's supposed to be a little warmer this week, so I will not put the extra blanket on under the spread. If we notice a chill I will add a throw on top.

The quote today from James Irwin reminded my of the children's program The Big Blue Marble.

I'm glad that Mr. MT is doing better. I would find my dh's cane left in other rooms of the house while dh shuffled around without it! Now he leaves it in the car just to use when out shopping!

Stew sounds good for today's cool weather Nancy. I had thought about having corned beef and cabbage with boiled potatoes, but that's not a favorite with ddil or dgds, so we didn't get that. Not sure what we'll have, something from the freezer.
