TUMBLIN' THURSDAY

Let those chores just 'tumble' off your list -or maybe that's the laundry twin tumblin' away while you do something else.
Had to call dbil/dsil to let them know of dh being back in the hospital. Knew that would be a dpc!
Going over to dd's in a few (as soon as I manage to s2s) for a cup of coffee then I'm headed in to the hospital. Hoping perhaps dh might be coming home today -but certainly don't want him out any sooner than he's really ready. I'll persevere.
Oh my, it's already 8:30 -need to move it, move it, move it!

G' morning Dee. Thanks for starting us off. Yes - having those chores tumble off my li&t is always a good reminder for me!
Much I wanted to say from yesterday. I always love MT's descriptions of her travels as well as her travel blog. Thank you everyone for your helpful comments! I think the biggest barrier to the card writing for me was getting over my guilt and feeling that I had made a mistake. You ladies helped a lot.
Cowinkie, I don't know about the eggs in that nest. I think Harriet's comments were right on. Yes, seems odd that one egg would be so undeveloped while another is so very developed.
Alright, it looks like I need to get to J & C.
I'm up, have had devo time, have fed dogs and done puppy duty, ordered 2 books I need for moms group studies this summer. Dh is off, ds is off - and dd17 is still asleep. I need to s2s to meet dfriend at her home at 10 for a walk.
PODA: not all of this will get done.
- a.m. routine (eventually)
- 10 - walk w/ dfriend in her neighborhood
- 11:45? - 1:30 dh and I may meet for coffee
- I have from 1:45 - 5:45 this afternoon to do the things I need to do
- prep sympathy card
- library
- buy 2 grad cards
(- prep 2 grad cards?)
- laundry
- catch up on financial stuff?
- work on trimming forsythia bushes
- work on resume; I've been waiting for dh's last round of edits. He is harsh, which is great!
- maybe give kids bathroom a good cleaning
- cook up more tomato sauce for dinner tonight
- 5:45 leave to pick up dd15 from camp
- 8:30-ish, be back with dd15
I need to start saying "no" to people. I had such a wide open week on Sunday, but it has been filled with so many impromptu meetings and errands that I haven't even been able to do much catch up work. Tomorrow will be similar, with people at our house 2:45 - 6:00 (boys for dd17 to babysit and then her small group) and some of us are attending grad party for the ds of one of our ds' friends. After WW meeting and groc. store run in the morning, I should have a couple of hours tomorrow. I can also work while people are in our home; I just find them distracting. This all begs the question: Do I really want to throw a part time job into the fray of my schedule next fall?
I suppose some things would have to change.
Off to s2s! Have a great day, all!

Remember to take care of yourself today, Dee!
I'm up after an awful night. Took 2.5 hours to fall asleep and was woken up multiple times after that. I decided to tough it out without a morphine since it was my knee and hip that hurt more than my stomach. Knee is still in bad shape today.
I've made my muffins for the day and had my tea.
Think I might go back to bed for a while, or at least settle into a recliner for a while.

Good Morning!
Very wise words spoken in this village. Thank you for sharing several possibilities and things to look out for. DMom blood work came back with no decline from last time. She has lost 3lbs in the last 6 months which doctor was very pleased with. DMom thought she had lost 10 lbs so asked the Doc to check his scales.
I did speak to DMom about her lapse in memory giving several examples. At first she was adamant that it was just me not remembering right. She became agitated and said she was going to get a tape recorder to record all of our conversations. However, when I brought up other people (besides me) remembering things happening and conversations that she doesn't remember or confused the facts, then she was able to understand and realize that she is forgetting things. I'm going to leave it like this for awhile and let her accept this much. I still have hope that it is stress & grieve related. Besides she was unsettled yesterday when family doc repeated what her heart doc told her at her last appt (40-60% blockage). She had forgotten it ....
Today is more appts.... LO goes to audiologist for hearing test then an hour later he will see the ENT doctor to get his ear tubes checked. DH will get his weekly allergy shots while we are there.
Meanwhile, I'm focusing on the D's -
XXX- Dailies
X- Devotions
XX- Dishes
X- Duds
X- Dinner
X- Desk
X- Declutter

Busy day in the village and here, so I am posting and running.
Have been to meet w rabbi this morning and returned home to send several emails and retrieve sunglasses. Dmom has a dr visit this afternoon and I need to refill her meds box today as well. And this night have meeting that I didn't receive a reminder email for, but I should go as I need to talk to several people there anyway.
This morning I had to put gas in rental car and buy a car charger as mine was left in my car and my phone needs charging.
Still hoping to go see dsis tomorrow. Have been in touch with car dealership and they may have it ready today, but I'm not even sure when I could pick it up.
Here's hoping for a wonderful day all around...

Good morning, villagers ~
Okay and
Lucylee ~ Remember also for DMoms that they may not be sleeping very well yet. Sleep deprivation, even for just a couple of nights in a row, does terrible things for memory and logic.
Still don't know about camping. Weather still iffy. Only family member we know for sure will be camping is 1 nephew with 3 of his young kids. DH says he doesn't think they will be much fun, so he will only camp if his DB J does. J can't make up his mind.

They will have to decide after work tonight.
Errands yesterday took a lot longer than expected so I still need to scrub out the cooler. Cannot find my hat, which is a priority because I don't tan, I burn. I did find my CoolTie, which I'll definitely need because we'll have real summer temps. Sent an Email to DH that if he doesn't know where his CoolTie is, he should stop on the way home and buy another one.
Have been working steadily all morning with desk work and chores that need to be done before I can have the weekend off. I'll update the camping list with menu items to remember if we go, then take a short nap before lunch.
I just mopped the kitchen floor so it can dry while the cats and I have our feet up.

Booking our trip to Toronto.
My senior friend was all excited and told her sister who poured cold water on things by asking how she would manage to get to her seat at the baseball stadium. So when I called this morning to confirm she was coming, she didn't think she could. I pointed out we would just take our wheelchair and we went over to try her in it. She doesn't fit well at all but there's one at her building she can use that will work. She didn't want to tie us down but we convinced her to come. A Blue Jays game is on her bucket list so she is excited.
In the meantime, the cheap seats on the train there are gone so that will cost 3x as much (the delay was from waiting to hear from our business contact and we could get cheap seats if we left at 6 a.m. but I'm not thrilled with that idea so we are going to pay the extra.) I've booked the tickets and have marked our reservation as wheelchair user. They'll have a lift to get her up onto the train so she doesn't have to climb the steep stairs (my biggest concern since there are days when a curb is too much for her.) We've been given the facing seats on the train which is also good.
The hotel seems to have dropped in price so that's a bonus. I booked early check in. We each have a suite and breakfast is included. And our business friend is booked into the same hotel so meeting up with him will be simple.
We just spent a half hour on the phone with the Accessibility people at the Blue Jays and have 4 seats, 2 in front in a regular row, 2 immediately behind in the wheelchair row. So we can sit together and she doesn't have to get out of the chair at all or worry about stairs. And they are across from the Blue Jays' dugout so she'll be able to see the players. I'll be able to get up and move around easily as well if I'm uncomfortable. At that point it is only 2.5 weeks after my surgery so I don't know how sore I'll be, especially after 4 hours on the train earlier in the day.
Next up, book the restaurant overlooking the field for the dinner before the game. Most of the trip is a business expense for dh and I due to the meeting with our business friend. We are also returning our friend's hospitality towards us when we've been in Denmark. Helping our senior friend out is a bonus in all this.
Dh is really pleased. All he had asked me yesterday morning was if I'd mind if he went to Toronto for the day on a cheap train ticket to meet with our business friend. I've turned it into an event. Being Danish, our business friend has never been to a baseball game before but he's living in the US now so it is about time he's introduced to America's game.
Edited to add: Just got a call from a local nursing home asking me to lead services for the month of July. Can't do it one of the days but can for the rest so will. Never done a nursing home service before.

Waving to all!
The clothes in the washer that were quite damp from my low are done and ready for tumblin' in the dryer now. I've done a few things today got 30 min. of de-cluttering in the sewing zone I took boxes out of that room and they are outside in the carport now. Yea for that. I'd been neglecting the basement. Found some toys for a toy rotation so I have some weeded out put the Easter bunnies stuff animals & dolls and plastic eggs away.
QT & journaling plus chicken chores done.
I have a plan for dinner planned left over chili yum!
The two kiddos here are doing well together today so that is a blessing.

Kathryn, I'm nodding my head and laughing in agreement to your observations about your Danish friend. Dh, being Dutch and also not particularly sports-minded, has never been to a baseball game either! He has been in the USA for 30 years now. He has been to some UM football games, though - and I think that is it in terms of US sports attendance, besides his kids activities. I think his dept. has several seasons tickets each year which can be reserved for specific games, if that makes sense. One time, UM was losing so badly he and ds started cheering for the other team, which I think was Iowa. I think he doesn't get sports loyalties. . . . Of course, he did root for NL when they were in the finals of the world cup a couple years ago, though, like most other Dutch people, he was not happy with the over-aggression they displayed in that game.
Our deacons do the service at a nearby nursing home once a month. Our family has gone to help out several times in the past but not recently; my dfriend B used to serve on the church deacon board, and we joined her once or twice when it was her turn to plan the service. It is common at our church for a small group to take a service, and our small group did that at least once. I must say, the residents really liked having the young people there; our kids played music for them, even accompanying hymns that we sang together, and once they even put on a skit that was a bit impromptu and ended up being so funny (not intentionally which made it even funnier) that skiing friend dad ended up on the floor laughing uncontrollably. And if we could, we would bring something (a card or small craft that kids at church had made) that we could hand out to all the residents after the service, even those who didn't attend the service. This was also where it was nice to have kids along; they would go up and down the halls giving the residents their little something.
Curious if Bookie will be camping or not. . .
I didn't meet with dh; we're going to have coffee tonight.
x walked with dfriend
x 2nd email to dfriend re: a haircut. She isn't responding very quickly
x stopped by library to get book - it wasn't there after all
x hallmark store to get grad cards
x lunch
x puppy care; she got into dd17's bag and put tooth marks in her school id and her Panera card. Thankfully, she didn't get to her driver's license or bank card.
I'm off for a 2nd round:
- prep sympathy card
- finish a.m. routine
- post office box stop - put card in the mamil
- library, closer branch, to return books
- keep laundry going
- work on financial stuff OR work on forsythia bush
- make more tomato sauce
