STUNNING SATURDAY

May today be a perfectly stunning day for you!
I've been up since before 6. Dh and I have had our meds, breakfast & are sipping coffee.
Need to text dd soon to see if she knows how we're getting tickets for dgd18's graduation tonight. I plan to go with dd, but dh is staying home & should be asleep by the time we get home. Have neighbors on both sides watching out for him. He said he slept pretty well (in the bed!!) last night. He got up about 5:15 & came out to the chair. Have given him the cough suppressant the Dr prescribed for him. Heard him start in -did quite a bit when he went to bed too. Be nice if we can nip that in the bud. I know how uncomfortable it is for him throughout his chest.
Bit of confusion here about his appointment with the cardiologist. Hospital wanted us to call in 4 days for a 'follow up'. Gal called back yesterday & told dh he has appointment July 11th. Hmmmm....that was already scheduled BEFORE this last hospital trip. I really don't think it's what the hospital was referring to. Can feel your pain/discomfort, Kathryn. Hope you're all better before your trip begins and preaching engagements. Know dh is now set back and I have no idea yet how much.
Was interesting to me to listen to ds-R talking to dneighbor last night. Heard him mention that he is so thankful to have his Ddad, and realize that we could have easily 'lost' him anytime in the past 6 months & particularly in the last week. Of course he wouldn't be lost, but I sure would be.
Want to get outside and clean up our deck some before it gets too hot. About 65 out right now.
Found out last night that DS-R has ddil#1's birthday present bought -he always thinks of the neatest things for her (and anybody else). He has 4 tickets to the Green Bay/Chicago game this fall in Wisconsin. DDIL, her dsis & her dmom all have a 'share' of the Packers. She's originally from Racine. So ds bought tickets for him, her, dgs8 and her dsis. She will be ecstatic -and of course all the travel package that goes with that. Last year he gave her a Sky diving jaunt -which she just did a couple of weeks ago. On her bucket list. He always was very thoughtful of what would really please her and especially since her recent bout with aggressive breast cancer. That will be 4 years this fall.
Dsonil is thinking about flying up and spending a few days with dd -if we proceed with dh's birthday & 50-year cancer survivor party plans (big surprise). Can't tell you how many times I've almost mentioned dsil coming up.
Facing the big telling dbil/dsil that dh (and me really) can NOT be around smoke this year. DD already told dsonil -he had taken up a pipe a couple of years ago. He said, "Ok". He really loves and respects dh and probably would do anything for him. He only smokes in the shop, but dh would go out there. Usually mosquitoes would drive him back in and I just don't think he felt all that well this past winter!
Ok, off to s2s and get something done. Dh will probably want to go up for a shower too. Dneighbor already brought the paper to our doorstep. It's so good to have them finally here from FL.

good morning and hugs Dee. Praying your DH improves and grows strong.
A sunny day here today.-
I just went shopping with a friend.
talked bulk paracetomal ingredients at chemist.
found the one handed flossing sticks
bananas - I'm a banana a day person.
frozen mix veg so one pot easy cooking is possible - once my already made things are eaten
some storeage containers so my bulk bought paper bagged goods (buckwheat and chia) can't taunt me spilling everywhere if I were to attempt to wrangle them unaided. Last nights spilt pre-cooked rice called for dog clean up. The BW one will be great to mix my seeds for next breakfast staple mix.
reinforcements in peanut butter and unsweetened fig jam - both great low GI for snacks.
Looked at easy clothes and found none. Op shop is called for I think.
Also not found - I wanted another metal milk shake flask. I love a banana goat milk smoothy most days.
A clean flask is great for collecting water from my still dripping kitchen tap. I need get back to the home help place again. I think I want the ceramic disk easy lever on and off taps there.
Monday I will be waiting for a call from fracture clinic - hoping to get in soon to see if I can wrangle a better sling - if the bones are where they should be.
I really need my rest tonight. I havent slept today, and had little sleep last night.
goodnight

Good morning! I am hoping for a stunningly quiet day today!
I am going to take a quick look at the paper, then need to clean out the rental car, return it and pick up my car, and then back home to get dMacs to PT at 11. Probably an afternoon nap, too?
I am so glad to have a quiet weekend.

Up since five journaling is about all I've gotten done. Glad my coughing has quieted down. I fed & let the chickens out too. No eggs yesterday this week not many eggs at all so will be thinking about culling again some of the older ones.
I need to tell dd about the new thing we are doing here with dgd 123's and ABS's in a primary notebook K-grade 2 it has space for drawing [or stickers] and writing below it. I like theses b/c I can keep 'em here and they can see progress over time what they did before.
I need to get some snap ties to put on the fence, that and pulling weeds is my goal today maybe some sewing. Plus farmer's mkt. and a store run. Car needs oil changed h. is in charge of that. Maybe while we are shopping.
I need to get some things de-cluttered off the deck in the next week. Some bricks wood and sod need moved if the weather is better I can work on that in 15 min. segments of time.
Found some cookies I can buy for h.'s lunches so got those.

Stunned Saturday might be more accurate for me!
I went to bed with dh last night but, because I wasn't tired, I ended up reading until midnight and finished the first of my dime-store crime novels (there's two in the one volume.) The sane, lawyer, did it.
I woke up five and half hours after dose of advil and was in pain but too lazy to roll over and take the pills I had put by my bedside (besides, I didn't want to break down and take them 'early' even though I can take them every 4 - 6 hours.) Went back to sleep and woke up at 6 (almost 8 hours after the previous dose) and took them then. Went back to sleep until after 9.
My meals will be late today or I'll be skipping one, not sure which.
My morning muffins are in the oven baking now. The tea is steeping.
My goals for today are
1. update sales chits into quicken
2. reconcile the bank accounts
3. reconcile the credit card statements
4. pay any outstanding bills
5. laundry
6. pack for trip.
That is a very aggressive set of goals. If I do 5 & 6, that will be a full day but I must get some of the others done because it is paperwork that is making up 70% of the disorder in the house right now. Church service prep and other projects are making up 20% of the mess and the remainder of the mess is just regular clutter of things that have a home but aren't in it or the odd thing of ds's that needs a home now (i.e. he buys his laundry detergent in 2 gallon containers so where do I store them that he'll use it up but it is out of my way - I can't use it because I'm allergic.)

All went well with picking my car up - no charge for the additional repairs, given that we paid $700 already for repairs that might not have been needed, and they took 24 hours longer than they said to get my car back to me.
I am heading out soon to take dMacs for PT.
I decided not to try to go to K-town funeral today. Another long drive wasn't in the cards for today; dMom didn't feel like she could go and returning rental car and picking up mine would have been difficult. Dh and I are talking about going to see the St Jude dream home today and having supper out on the early side. I have a splitting headache going.
Talked to dcousin for a bit this morning and we're going to catch up next week with a phone call.

Strangely, I slept 8 hours with one bathroom break last night. Do NOT know where that came from. And on a night when our bedroom-side air-conditioning unit was out. I was stunned.
Dyslexia glasses - Did ya'll know about this? Saw a blurb in Shape mag's Live Healthy section. 50 percent of dyslexia sufferers experience it as visual distortions. Those are helped by this type of reading glasses or contacts. Expensive, but not that much more than bifocals, I suppose. Opticians are starting to carry them. Prescription dyslexia glasses/clip-ons/contacts Some insurances cover, some don't.
Dstepson and family may come to visit today. Don't know. He put in a 16-hour day yesterday, poor thing.
What kind of muffins, Kathryn?
Nancy reminds me that I need to tie some of the container tomatoes' cages together to make them more stable. I am watering these like crazy. Can't help but think they are very susceptible to wilting.
Last nights spilt pre-cooked rice called for dog clean up.
Thank you, puppy dear. ((Lynlee))
In theory, the air-conditioning man will come today. In theory, HRH has it narrowed down to a couple potential problems that shouldn't break the bank.

Good morning all! Dh and I went for a jog/run first thing this morning - except we got up so late (we went to bed around 12:30; S and R were here until midnight. After the grad party, dh, ds, and I came home and we all watched a movie together) that first thing meant we were jogging a little after 9 a.m. That was a bit hot, actually. Came home to find an email from dfriend A who was hurt by an email I had sent Thursday trying to coordinate Shakespeare in the Arboretum tonight. She had originally invited us to go with her, but when I hadn't heard from her re: details by Thursday, and we were starting to plan our weekend, I emailed her and invited her to join us. I thought that was a polite way of wording things, but I understand how she felt usurped, especially as a single woman. I apologized, and also explained all the above, plus the fact that I did not intend to hurt her feelings. I think all will be well in the end; she is one complicated woman - and a wonderful one too. We don't see her much anymore; she used to come to our Th. night dinners but no more, not since S got was pregnant.
The gardening guy has been improving our property quite a bit! Yesterday, he weeded the ground cover, cut down a dead evergreen, trimmed the shoots that grow out of our crabapple every spring, and trimmed our redwood/red cedar tree. He thinks it is a red cedar, not a redwood as someone else had told us. He's here again today, trimming down the bushes in front of our house (I think I'd like to get rid of them, except the front of our house is not that pretty), and maybe trimming the forsythia too. SO nice I don't have to wrorry about these things!!
Goals for today then:
- get caught up on laundry
- get caught up on financial stuff
- maybe go to shakespeare in the arb tonight? We may not go since A isn't going anyway.
- groc. store
- Target runs

Harriet Maybe the quiet due to no a/c helped you sleep more deeply.
I'm having 2 raisin bran muffins a day baked up fresh each morning from the refrigerator dough I mixed up last weekend. The doc had said to make sure I got lots of fibre and these fit the bill nicely and serve as my first breakfast of the day.
Eating 6 meals a day is a bit tricky (there's a lot of planning, prep and dishes involved) but I think it is helping the recovery and the adjustment to no gall bladder. If I eat a regular meal, I feel uncomfortable as if I've badly over-eaten, so the 6 meals is working for me. The trick is to keep them as small as possible so I don't eat too much over the total day. If it doesn't feel like enough, I try to add some cut veggies or fruit to the meal, although I'm still having lots of soda crackers. Avoiding obvious high-fat foods (cheese, pizza, bacon, fried foods, greasy foods) is helping as well. I did eat a whole single-serving frozen lasagna (300 calories) in one sitting a few nights ago, instead of two dinners, but it weighed heavy on me the rest of the night.
I've also managed to eliminate soft drinks for now. I haven't even re-introduced sparkling water yet. My only liquids are tap water (not quite 8 per day), decaf tea, the occasional green tea although I have to watch when I have it because the caffeine has full effect on me) and 2 glasses of milk a day. Plus liquids from soup, fruit or veggies. I had a frozen lemonade while out yesterday but it didn't really do anything for me (i.e. it didn't feel like a treat.) As a person who had at least 2 cans of soda a day, plus soda water and often juice, this is a marked change in my diet. Having given up aspartame after the hepatitis, giving up my regular soda habit should reduce my weight since it is an easy cut of 300 calories a day from my diet. No sign of that expected weight loss yet, though.

Hi gals. Glad to see so many had good night's rest. I slept like a log, even after the long nap I had yesterday afternoon. I was really worn out after DGSs visit.
Dee, you have absolute right and necessity to tell your relatives no smoking. They should have already figured that out way before this, but to not tell them would be disrespectful to you and Mr. Dee. I just heard of a study done about
3rd hand smoke, which is the smoke that hangs around on people's clothes and in their environment and how damaging that can be. They have detected it 2 years later in apartments where smokers lived. Something for you guys to think about.
I am trying to clear up some nagging paperwork at my desk, kinda important stuff that came to light recently. Couple things I needed to follow up on. So, forms filled out and faxed and emailed.... maybe now people will pay our invoices.
I'm going to run to store to pick up a turkey. When it's thawed I'll bake it and slice it up to give my best friend who goes for operation next week.
