Friday Fundamentals

A new day, a chance to start over for those who need a chance to begin again. A chance to return the fundamentals of our systems, routines.
I love how each day is a new day. We don't have to wait for the first of the year, season, month, or week to begin again. Every day is a new birth for us.
So if you've been waiting for the perfect time to start over, this is it!
I'm going to begin by watering the houseplants. (Their regular watering day is Monday but it got missed and rather than making them suffer in this heat, I'll water them today and start over.)

I'm up. I stripped and remade the bed (first time in weeks) and then tidied my room a bit, putting away the extra 'sick' tray by my bed. My bedside table space is very small, so when I'm sick I bring up a wooden tray from the kitchen and put it on my garbage can. That gives me additional room for meds, blood pressure machine and thermometer, and the book in which I track my vitals.
I also cleaned out my undershirt and long underwear drawer, moving the long underwear to my summer storage spot. I'll need to reduce the number of undershirts I have. I think 7 or 8 should be enough and I definitely have more than that. When I put my long underwear away, I found 5 more undershirts so I definitely have too many! Organized my panty and bra drawer as well. Tossed 4 pairs of panties and noted I probably have more than enough underwear to last a long, long, time. There are three different sizes in there, though, so that accounts for a lot of the high count (I have 5 in my 'small' size, 5 in my medium size, and 11 in my large size since I recently broke down and bought extras in 'nude' shades for under my summer clothing. Good thing I did given the length of this heat wave.)
So there are two drawers tidied and areas to cut back identified.
I'm thinking of having dh help me with the winter outerwear today. We never did put all the coats and boots, etc. away and pulled out only one summer jacket each. This is a good experiment on making do with less. We have lots of everything simply because we have the space to store it, but it is a want not a need as this summer has proven.
But first it is time to have breakfast.

I also 'resemble' this statement, Kathryn.

Every day I think I'll get to it and there's been more pressing needs.
Slept sort of ok until nearly 4am, then was awake until after 6. For some reason our AC (we have 2) has been programmed and we can't seem to get it out of the programming. Thus the AC is only working part time. Asked dh if he can find the breaker that goes to the thermostat. Hoping if we cut the electric to it, it will wipe out any programming (which has been done by accident & for the life of me I can't figure out how to program this one!) Can't tell you how many times I was up trying to reset it during the night.
We're trying to figure out what to do with the incessant cough dh has. He has been coughing for nearly 5 weeks now and it's a very deep, unproductive cough. Dr. changed one med he thought might cause it -that hasn't helped at all. He's had a cough suppressant to take, but it's really a rather 'dangerous' one to be on. Wish I could think of something that would quell it at least some. He is so sore -both stomach and ribs. Of course it's keeping us both awake & he ends up in the recliner every night.
Think we're going to see "Despicable Me 2" this morning with dd and dgs8. We'll probably go for the 3D and that's cheaper in the morning. So, off to eat and bathe.

Happy Anniversary, Mr. & Mrs. OKay!
Dee, it sure would be nice if they'd figure out something for your DH to take care of that cough.
I've been up for a while so far. I woke fairly early and felt rested. That's 2 days in a row I've noticed that. I'm thinking maybe, just maybe, that's a good sign.
Ran an errand for DH. Then I spent a couple hours at my desk. It still looks bad for much of the stuff there is done. A bit of organizing and a couple little projects and I'll be totally caught up. Reconciled one bank account and did a bit of detective work, going back 3 years. Good to understand one's finances, at least the big picture, I think.

Thank you! I'm thrilled to reach this milestone. We are celebrating 40 years together.
LO has been delivered to DMom's. This is the last day of VBS and she is ready for it to be over.

Even though she has LO less than 1 hour a day (15 minutes before and about 15 minutes afterwards), it has been a great drain on her. I've offered to take him directly and pick him up from VBS, but she is enjoying the hustle-bustle of it....even though it is exhausting to her.
Dee - could the cough be something not related to the surgery? I'm thinking of all the rain you have received and wondering if the mold count is high. LO used to cough until he threw up (sorry about TMI) however after the ENT doc started LO on nose spray to block the allergies, he has totally stopped coughing. I know this is probably nothing that would help Mr Dee, but just wishful thinking on my part. ((((Dee & DH)))

Happy Anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. OKay!!
I am up early to a very quiet campground. Once in a while someone goes past with a boat in tow, but for the most part it is just me and the birds.
The seagulls act like pigeons here - hunting for scraps from the campers. If they find something good on the road, they defy the cars to the last minute before flying away. Once the car is past, they are right back on the road.
Today is a dig out the camper day. I can't believe we are such slobs. It will only take minutes, however. That is the joy of living in a 8 X 28 ft. house. It doesn't take long to clean (or mess up).
We went out to prime rib at the Elks Lodge down the road. It was very, very good.
I think today we are going to take a ride to the top of the dam and check that out. This is the largest earthen dam in the world. and the lake goes back about 135 miles.

Glad you had a good rest, Harmony. Time for you to start feeling better too.
I'm ready to go to the movies but it's not till 12 (not 11 as I thought). That's even better.
They're dumping dirt from somewhere right behind our RV over the berm. It's so loud when those dump trucks bang their load that I jump every time!
Got my hair washed. Suppose I should at least do the dishes since I have an extra hour (so to speak) this morning.
It was already 89 out when I got up this morning. Apron time>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> What a difference an apron makes, Harriet. Makes my body know it's seriously time to get busy. Wish I'd had it last night. Dh gave me a piece of his Giarhdelli chocolate and evidently a crumb fell on my practically new top!

Didn't notice until this morning. Also couldn't find my phone -until I looked out at the golf cart -there it sat on the seat. Sure glad it didn't rain or have a heavy dew.
Dh has been seen in the last week by his surgeon, cardiologist and pulmonologist and it's coming from very deep in his lungs. He does take an inhaler first thing in the morning and has a rescue inhaler for other times. Pulmonary dr has him scheduled for another chest xray but not until Sept 5th. He had one while he was in the hospital the 2nd time on June 18th. It IS very bothersome, Okay, and I can only hope we can find a 'cure'.
Don't have to be a 'slob' to get a quick mess in an RV, MT. Sure you know that. But you're right, no matter how bad it gets, it can usually be 'fixed' in a few minutes. I sometimes have to do a dash 'n stash, but not often. I have done that with my closet enough now, though, that it needs a good cleaning.

This morning a life long friend and owner of local realty company called and asked me to witch a well for him. I have been turning down all requests because I haven't been ready to do it without DDaddy. However it felt right this morning to respond positively. So.....for the first time, I'll go alone to select the branches and trim them into proper shape ....something DDaddy and I have always done together. After DDaddy went on oxygen and his range of motion became limited, I witched the wells by myself, but always with DDaddy watching. This time I'll do it all alone. And you know what? It feels good to be following in my Daddy's footsteps.

Breakfast is done and dishwasher is emptied. My music friend called and we talked for almost an hour. She's got an ultrasound for her kidneys today so was chatting me to distract herself from the urge to go pee.
It is windy today so although it is very hot, humid and sunny, there is a sense that it isn't as bad as it has been. We have a heat advisory today, a UV advisory and are under a thunderstorm and tornado watch as well. Quite the weather these days! It is only 86 right now, but feels like 106 when you add in the humidity, although in the shade and breeze, I'm sure it feels a lot closer to the 86.
Not sure what I'm going to do next. Still haven't watered the plants so I guess that is an excellent place to start.
