Multi-tasking Monday

There's so much to do, but homemakers manage to accomplish it all! How do we do it? Well, sometimes even we don't know.
But we are often doing two things at once!
How will you organize chores today to accomplish more in a short time?
What chores will you gather under the multi-tasking umbrella today?

Good Morning Harriet. You are off to an early start today.
I slept 5 hours and woke up refreshed and ready to start the day. It seems I sleep about the same amount of time daily. If I take a nap then my night time sleep is reduced.
I strive to multi-task reoccurring tasks that done so often they need very little thought. However, I am learning toward single tasking and deciding in what sequence each item will be done. I like times of my day that I have already made the decision "after I do this, then i will do that" so things can be done quickly while still enjoying the act of doing it.
When i worked FT, I tried to keep at least one appliance (washer/dryer/oven/dishwasher/etc) going at all times that I was home and awake. I still tend to do that but I am home more hours now so I can actually FINISH. I like reaching a time of the day when I can enjoy being home with quiet appliances. I'm starting to enjoy music playing in the background again. I have several playlist put together of various types of my favorite music. I can use the groups of songs as timers since I know how long it takes for them to play.
Absolutely NOTHING is on my calendar for today or tomorrow. And today starts the last quarter moon which means this isn't the time to plant anything in the garden. It's nice to have a break from needing to go somewhere every day. Although we will probably go visit DSisIL in the hospital. Yesterday, the medical staff said they thought it was more serious than just pneumonia. The 72 hour culture results should be back tomorrow and will hopefully give them a clue what it going on with her health.

Good morning -Harriet -Okay -and anyone else who strolls through today.
I'm sipping my juice -just took meds. Dh has gone up for a shower. We're off to see the cardiologist this morning at 10. Hoping that something shows up on the ultra sound today that they can put their finger on. Dh has felt so lousy for just forever at this point. He was really doing very well after his surgery until about June 18th. Since then it's been pretty much downhill. I can tell he's beginning to feel very discouraged. So unusual for him.
Think we may go see Turbo today with dd and dgs8 -depending on results of dh's testing this morning -and how his multitude of lab work came out.
I'm not even s2s yet, and have to eat. So best get on my way. No multi tasking for me -at least not this morning. Not good to drive and multi task!

Sending prayers and best wishes with you two, Dee!
lucylee, do you mean you are printing out the new Excel spreadsheet of routines and chores in hard copy? Or are you "checking off" online whenever you get back to the computer? It sounds great.
Lilac, that sounds like a good price on fencing. Smiling at your dd's statement that this will be the last long trip they take for a while. Yes, it can be such a production to get ready, and then to get there, of course. Hope they have fun.
Lynlee, so glad to hear the pain is lessened but frowning to hear the fracture clinic folks won't take an interest in the elbow. They have expertise, and it's a shame if they don't offer it to you just because you're not talking about the exact spot that had the fracture. Do they think they should look at patients by the square inch?
Yes, early this a.m. for me. I have made myself a promise to start early with getting back to routines, beginning this first of week. I did have a remarkably bad night's sleep, but at 5 just decided it was time to honor my promise. I can take a nap later.
Along with some board housekeeping mods will notice (well, they'll notice I didn't finish), I've done the Morning Dailies, 15 declutter, 2 thank-you notes through to stamps, (hugs to Nancy for saying even one a week would still be progress!), and gotten started on Round Robin and Focus.
Right, multi-tasking here includes the machines, too, OKay. A load of laundry humming always accompanies my Morning Daily Card hour when I'm "on my game" and I was determined this morning would be no exception. Funny/bittersweet perhaps that today's laundry load up was 3 of my ddad's plaid/check shirts. Now they are ready for some material to be cut out of them and someday they'll become part of scrap quilts for the family.
I consider it multi-tasking just to use receptacles of whatever type to help with decluttering or even just general pick-up.
A "wrist corsage" (plastic grocery bag) with me for pick-up through the house makes quick work of anything that should be tossed, never having to quit any area to find a stationary trash can. It will also work for collecting small toys, for cleaning out vehicles. Really multi-tasking for vehicles clean-up takes two bags - one for trash and one for back-to-the-house items. I look funny, but I'm efficient. Also a basket is great when you are decluttering one spot. When time is up, take the basket around and put things where they belong. That way, you didn't lose time while working.
Hope everyone's having a great Monday.

Good morning Harriet OKay Dee and all who follow.
re multitasking - the only appliance that works itself is the washing machine, so yes to getting that started and going on with other things.
The stove top plate is solid core and retains its heat. I try to get that started, cereal to almost boiling then turn it off and it will cook long enough so that is time I can use elsewhere too. Similarly with dinner. Put the lid on the fry pan and let it do its thing.
taking care of little things in the time the milk heats in microwave.
Mostly I aim to stay in the moment, while noticing little things that can be done along the way without waiting for there to be 1000 of them. Having waste bins handy in many rooms helps me with the tossables without getting sidetracked from whatever else I'm doing..
home I've had my hot drink. time to wash up and then shower. I started my pt exercises but think they may be better done after a shower. There's lots of different painful bits apart from where the break was. hands behind head stretch seems too hard atm - even modified to just behind my ear. Wondering if that was the one using the rope to pull up my arm replaced - or as well as. There is another one to do once I lie down.
Harriet- I guess I'll try for an appointment with a gp (reg doc) and see if he will follow up on other things. Also I'm pretty sure I'll get to the alternative health practicioners sooner rather than later. Just spent an age finding local loop bus service timetable if I want to go see a previous chiro. I'm afraid thats why I don't really have a good opinion of many doctors. I don't think they are really interested. Or maybe its just me.
ok. I've just been sidetracked again. dishes then bed prep. go.
goodnight

Harriet, the price of $700.00 is just for labor. I probably didn't make that very clear. The fencing will be several thousand, but for quality lumber. We are waiting on the final estimate.
Dd1 and I have walked. I need to get a shower. At 10 am, dd1, dgs19, dgd16 and I are going to the zoo and ride the bicycle/surrey. Dd1 goes back to work in 2 weeks. Then on the 14th they will be moving dgd19 to the college, 2 1/2 hours from here. I always miss dd1 when school starts. During the summer we spend a lot of time together walking and other things. Once school starts, time together is limited.
I need to buy groceries later today.

Multi-tasking would be helpful here as we hope to leave late this afternoon. Not sure how we can do that, though.
I think Maia has picked up mange so we're off to the vet here in 5 minutes. This is NOT what I needed on this particular day. However, before she hangs out with a bunch of small children for a few days, we need to find out what is going on with her - and if it is contagious to humans. One sort of mange is. . .
Dh was up until 2:45 a.m. last night working with the student, or perhaps just the student's thesis. He is up and working away again.
Dd15 has a friend coming over all this afternoon?? I think we're going to encourage her that the friend needs to go home maybe mid-afternoon or earlier. . . .
Dd17 is out now, meeting with friends. She'll take my car for another noon meeting, so I may not get to the groc. store until later this afternoon.

As usual I have a hard time getting rolling on Monday morning. I need to be at the dentist tho at 11 and I haven't s2s-ed or walked ddogs, so I must unstick my behind and move.

I'm up and s2s although I realize I forgot to put on my face cream. So will do that and then have breakfast.
Single tasking would be an improvement for me. Multi-tasking currently is a pie-in-the-sky dream.

Multi tasking at the moment while the sprinkler is going and I do this journal & watch / listen to TV preacher & while I do granny duty today.
How about napping while listen to tv! LOL!
I need to get the focus on some laundry today and clear the dining table.
