I'd like to get settled in to this not-working-payroll life but it seems that every week is packed full of Time slot Tetris type juggling. Today I'm having lunch w a former coworker and catching up on the doings there, and then I have a temple Exec comm meeting at 5:30. PODA for now:
-routines
-prep for meeting, several items to prepare
-temple health care notification?
-upstairs bookcases for stamping/genealogy
A.m. routine for now:
breakfast
meds/vitamins
plan for the day
walk ddogs
start a lol

Yeah, I'll admit Twins, sometimes my schedule is full enough w/out payroll that I wonder why on earth I was wanting to add that to my life right now. . . Well, actually I do know why - but for the last month and continuing for a while, I think a part-time job on top of everything else would have made my life h *ll-ish.
I am up, have checked emails, s2s-ed, have gathered laundry and have washed a load of darks. Dryer just beeped so I should switch them - not sure I have time before I run out the door, though. . . I've let dogs into the house innumerable times this a.m.
they can let themselves out via door with broken latch. I have found iron (dd15 has the only iron in this house
) and am ready to iron evening dress, one of the band uniform dresses. Orchestra mom and I weren't sure it had been to the dry cleaners since it was pretty wrinkly. Since it has been reserved for one of my (band) students, she suggested I take it home and wash it and iron if necessary. Yes, that is necessary. I also need to bring some needle and thread to sew in a tag that is falling out of one of the tux coats - again, reserved for a band student.
I'm hoping to leave in 15 minutes and FINISH pulling the reserved uniforms for the band. I'm just going to stay until the task is complete. It is taking longer than usual b/c (1) I'm also still making the tags (not a huge task but it does take more time) and (2) I have to move all the reserved uniforms to the marching uniform room since the orchestra reserved uniforms are being stored in any extra closet space in the concert uniform room. All the racks need to be empty so the marching band, 2 of the bands this time - maybe 140 kids, can hang their marching uniforms on them during school Friday before the homecoming game Friday evening. .. Anyhow, I hope to be home around noon. That is my PLAN.
Have a great morning all!!

I think those of us without work outside the home play an important part in keeping faith communities, schools, libraries, charities, community & cultural associations and sports organizations running since they rely on volunteer help and at times they need many, many, hours from people all at one time. I'm sure it wasn't as bad in the 'olden' days when the majority of women were at home, but now that only about 20% are not in the outside workforce, it makes more work for those of us left and for those retirees who expected to have a peaceful, leisurely, retirement.
I'm up. Woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep. It was only 5 hours of sleep so I put on the radio and then dozed until 8.
I've tidied and dusted our bedroom as well as s2s. Am having my chocolate and tea now.

I'm in process of planning for this last month here in our Park model. Can hardly wrap my brain around the fact that it's nearly time to close up. Found our last year's closing l&&ts on my old netbook. For some reason everything except anything labeled 2012 transferred over to my new laptop. Emailed it to myself so now I can print it out and see what I/we have to do for this year.
Was going to go for blood work this morning but my blood sugar was 95 so decided to wait till tomorrow to see if it's a little lower. I know -95's not bad, but I know it can be lower and they always read what my morning # is when they do the rest. Not looking forward to it as I am a very hard 'stick'. Know I've used Kathryn's methods in the past of drink, drink, drink (water) and use a microwave heating pad to keep the area warm. But it seems like something is escaping me. The other thing is when I make sure my early morning blood count is low enough I'm really shaky until I get some food into me. So it can be a challenge getting to the lab before eating.
Going over to the laundry twins shortly and do my load of 'lights', then plan to do another load of 'coloreds' this afternoon. Then I'll be caught up again. The water on the hill (i.e. laundry room) gets turned off on the 16th and then will have to make trips into town. Could go to either DS's but both of them entail a lot of stairs. Not good at that -remember when I used to be able to simply run up and down the stairs.
Have to call Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster to see if they'll hold my tickets for Noah next Friday. I clicked on 'print my own'. Unfortunately only 1 will print & the last line of the 2nd. Grrr. (EDIT: Did that -seems they're having trouble with that very thing on their end so can pick them up at the box office Friday. 1DPC done).
Off to work my plan for the day>>>>>>>>>.

Oh, thanks, Dee - Happy Birthday, Village!
Had so much fun yesterday giggling at everyone's take on the Manor House homemaking. Thanks for all that. It kept me on my toes, too. Kathryn mentioned that another hunting hound had been added to her community and for a minute I was thinking there really were packs of foxhounds or something around her area!! LOL! Then I caught on that she could be talking about any number of puppy pet types! Thank you, Cowinkie, for the information in that link! It was full of new info to me. What a adventurous day you had until you got home to your handsome prince.
helia, you are a remarkably well-rounded person with so many aspects to your life. Although we do all feel sorry for the employers who didn't get the chance to hire you, bless their hearts, we also know you've filled your days with contributions to a wide circle of folks around you.
Great quote, Twins' Mom. Was so glad to hear your sister is doing well.
Yep, new month, new quarter, time to plan. New monthly threads will be up all around the village - everyone grab yourself some inspiration and encouragement.

Up and S2BF. We have to leave by 9 as this is a National Park and is now shut down.
I found a park about 100 miles away with free wifi and a laundry so we will be leaving for there in about 1/2 hour.
At least they left the showers on for us to clean up before we left.
So, I'll see you from Kinsley, KS in just a couple hours. We will (or at least I hope DH will) rest here as we have to travel again tomorrow. This is way too many days in a row to travel but who knew the park would shut down.

Oh, Emptynester, I just saw a headline: "Attention travelers, your plans have changed." So sorry you are one of the ones caught up in this, yet so glad you are bright folks who know the right steps to take. Lots of rest wished for you after you get settled again.

I finished with that first round. Took the ddogs up to the top of the hill for a look-see at the lots they are clearing up there. We got caught in a light rain shower, too.
-reboot laundry
-straighten MBR
-make the bed
-s2s
-read email re required notification to employees under ACA, even tho temple has fewer than 50 employees
This will finish a.m. routine.
Safe travels today and this week to MT and Mr.
Harriet, I also enjoyed the manor housekeeping. Do you guys remember that we used to do "castle cleaning" on the old old board and meet at the well for breaks?
Dee, I'm glad you found your closing list on the old computer, would have been a hard thing to start over with creating it. Do you have an estimate for your departure date?
Nodding with Kathryn on the role of volunteers - when dkids were elementary school age, there was a substantial number of volunteer hours tracked at their school - it drops off as mothers return to the workplace and kids are less willing to have parent around the school premises. The two temple presidents before me were both women who either worked part time or were between workplaces - hoping that the next president, a man who works/travels full time, is able to give it his attention. Hoping he will "work smarter" as he appears very organized and together.
Helia, I'd have a hard time fitting part time work into your busy schedule - you are a master of the Time Slot Tetris and the exchange student adds another layer of needs to your schedule. I've used your "bandwidth" term frequently, and I introduced it to another this week. I like because it can't be argued with, and its uniqueness factor redirects the question hopefully.
On to tasks at hand.
