We each can make small improvements today - whether is it tackling a difficult level and solving the puzzle or learning to say a new word. (POTB for Helia and for LucyLee DGS!)

I'm tackling LO jeans needed......again. I don't know why this is such a challenge, but it is.
I've tried taking LO to the store and trying on jeans. That quickly gets to "not fun" level. I'm always concerned about pins/sharp items being in the changing room floor and searching for possible sizes (even with help of sales person) is a PITA. So, trying clothes on in the store was not a solution.
Next I tried ordering all the possible sizes/brands/styles available in his size (8). I can't remember the # of jeans ordered but it was something around 30 pair. I had high hopes with this method, but after it was all said and done.......we were still wearing the same brand/style as before. Returning all those jeans was not fun. Sears had to call a manager to figure out how to do it, the manager didn't know so they had to call the HQ office. Although it all worked out in the end, I won't be doing that again.
Next, I decided information is all I need to find jeans that fit him. I know what his waist and inseam are, so all I have to do it find jeans with matching numbers. This seemed such an easy solution. So yesterday I made a spreadsheet and started searching online for waist/inseam information of different brands/styles. I thought this would be easy information to obtain. WRONG! I found sizes that were for brands (Levi, etc) but not for individual styles (550, 505, etc). The only size chart with waist/inseam information I could find was Wrangler 13MWZ ....which is what he is wearing now.
In case you wonder why I keep looking for different jeans instead of just continuing to wear the current brand/style of jeans that fit his waist/inseam......they do not fit his backside (from the crotch to waist ....I don't know what that measurement is called). The jeans sit low on his waist so each time he bends, squats or reaches up, then everyone gets a good view of his (|) cheeks!
It makes me smile that this is my current challenge. Such a small thing. But a part of me can't believe I have spent so much effort, time and $$ on this puzzle and still haven't solved it!

OKay, in case it would ever help as you try to find more info, that measurement is called the "back rise".
Boy's clothes - Obviously, I start thinking about home sewing and how it might help meet this challenge. For corduroys in winter, yes, but for jeans I doubt it would be much help. A true tailor or seamstress is one viable option, but I would think, expensive for jeans. Anyway, as long as there were substantial overshirts, like sweatshirt material, for winter, I would think cords or near-jeans with faux zipper plackets would make sense for school and could be home-sewn or purchased 2 or 3 at a time from a local seamstress. The back patch pockets are simple top-stitching with maybe the simplest stitch design, and would make jeans look more "authentic" (smile) though real front pockets would be more challenging. I have seen styles of jeans for guys with patch pockets of some type in the front, too, though. Just a thought. As soon as you decide on a zipper placket and classic front pockets in jeans, the sewing difficulty level is no longer in the realm of home or affordable sewing service work.
Ivy, I wonder if one of the scar creams that promise faster healing might help?
Nancy, are you repainting the same color or changing this time?
We've had an extraordinary change in weather here. From 88 and sunny, no wind, on Saturday to 62 and windy today.

Good morning!! Yes - my Tuesday schedule is a time tetris challenge!!
Thank you for that image, Twins. (At least, I think it was you that coined that term.
I am up, have had cup of tea, let ddogs out once and gone out with Maia a 2nd time. Of course, she is racing around and wrestling with Pepper as if everything is normal and she didn't just have surgery yesterday. We're supposed to try to keep her quiet for a couple days. . . .Ha ha!! She did have her pain med pill this a.m. I wonder if she is actually in pain? Maybe the med will make her sleepy and help slow her down.
Dh has gone in to his office already, which is early for him. He is a night owl and stays up working until well past midnight these days. He has an exam to write, however, and has not been able to get to that. I'll be leaving in 1:05 for first meeting.
Tuesday time tetris challenge:
- a.m. routine
- teaching team meeting 9:15 - 11:15-ish
- prep ribs for the oven
- prep potatoes?
- prep some info. to share with potential ccc
- meeting at church 1:15 - 2:15 (I hope it will not take more than an hour)
- DPCs - several, from the plumber (one toilet is running continuously) to calling references on child care workers
- make cornbread; make dessert, perhaps go ahead and make the mashed taters
- exercise, maybe? This is falling out of my schedule
- dd15 to oboe lesson 4:30 - 5:30 (lesson time; we'll be gone 4:15 - 5:50)
- finish cooking food - steam green beans
- take meal to S and R
- eat ourselves; there is a debate going on whether or not to join S and R for dinner. Dh says they would like that. However, I know that I would have been horrified by such a prospect with the birth of any of my babies. Dh says it is a different situation - they are different from me, we're not guests but more like family, and her mother is there to help. They will be honest with us, which is helpful.
Off to s2s and get some of the a.m. routine done before I walk out the door.

I'm the idea person, not the actual sewing person, but would it be possible to extend the back rise on the pants higher with some brightly coloured material (a plaid for instance) and integrate a new belt line at the back with the existing belt line on the jeans?
Woke up to the news that a cousin who I've never met but is brother to three sisters who I do know, has had a stroke after successful open heart surgery. At this point things seem to be better than most stroke patients so I'm guessing it was a very minor one (being in hospital at the time probably reduced the effects.)
I was very productive last night after my last post so got quite a bit done but was in bed just before midnight. I have a busy day today and shouldn't be posting now but wanted to say hi!
So far I've finished tidying my room, swapped out the magazine in the bathroom, s2s, finished a load of laundry (the machine won't reliably stop spinning so I couldn't leave it running), started a load of laundry, put the wet clothes in the dryer, refilled the laundry detergent from the bulk-container, put away the dishes in the drainer, watered the plants and had my tea and chocolate.

Good Morning! I have been awake since 4:30 this morning. I stayed quiet as long as I could and have been prowling around for a few hours. Dh is still sleeping!
Aww, poor
LO. He must have long legs! I remember my boys changing sizes a couple of times a year.
Harriet, the tropical storm Karen finally moved off past us yesterday. It rained all night and all morning, finally clearing up late afternoon. I heard a short rain shower this morning while it was still dark. Temp is 76* right now, sunrise was bright with a pale creamy sky. Should be nice weather the rest of the week!
Helia, you sure do have a busy day planned. I'll bet S & R's baby is really cute!
My challenge is juggling days this week. Tuesdays are usually errand days and I have no intention to going anywhere today! We were out yesterday and will be out tomorrow for dh's dr. appointments, one in the a.m., one after lunch, and out on Thursday for another P.T. session. Thursday we will need to get some groceries and go to post office. So...I will move Wed. Focus day work to today and see how much weekly chores I can get done.
First up is breakfast and a cup of tea, then finish a.m. routine.

Yes, I think I was the first to name time slot tetris - very apt on those weeks you keep shifting things form one block to another to another.
Today I need to get Moses to P etsmart for bath, then have a pedicure for myself at 11:30 and a vet appt for Macs at 2:15. I'd also like to get out Autumn decorations and perhaps pick up some mums. Undecided about mums versus going on to pansies now. We will probably still have warmer weather than pansies like, but I never have much luck keeping mums going either.
-s2s
-walk ddogs
-breakfast
-meds/vitamins
-take out garbage can!
BWP thoughts - Sunny reminded me that Wednesday used to be my errand day. I hope to get back to designating a weekly BWP based on what's going in a particular week, but it just seems too hard when there are so many random things hitting. Tomorrow I need to get ready for temple bd meeting tomorrow night and Thurs I need to get dmom back to doc for blood work and flu shot. (I don't think I need an appt but need to ck.) Today I have a solid block in the middle of the day busy.
Must remember to clean up back seat of my car before taking Moses for bath, and must remember to pick him up...

Sipping a mug of cappechino. Very slow start to today.
LucyLee, you said,
I have decided that -- apparently -- it takes 3 days to recover from a 3 day trip.
Whenever I took our dks to mu dmom & dDad's for any length of time -I always said when I returned, "takes 3 days to get back to normal, no matter what". So I've always just figured that 3 days I guess.

I can remember dd always calling me by my first name for just about that long whenever we'd been where I was called just that.

That too would take about 3 days to correct.
Still have a very bothersome 'pinkie' but it affects everything I do.

Have a brace on it, but still manages to be a big pain as soon as I try to use that hand for anything. Could be worse.
Had about 2" of rain over the last couple of days, but real sunny this morning.
I can feel a bit of anxiety about heading to FL as things are still so 'up in the air' there as far as gd15 is concerned.
Been up for 2 hours and have only accomplished s2s and breakfast. Will use Harriet's dd15's statement and get myself moving at something even if I don't feel like it. I really don't have all day -just keep saying that to myself.

Good morning, villagers ~
Working on prep work in order to leave DH home alone for 4 days.
Laundry and dishes are caught up.
Need to start taking a few things out to the car. Sleeping bag & camping pillow, extension cord, things like that.
Must declutter the cupboard of all storage containers we don't need. We have a few extra glass jars with lids, too. I can take them with me to the retreat for leftovers from our meals, and leave them in the lodge when we're done Sunday.
This afternoon I will be going to look at a sewing machine that a friend wants to sell. I love my old reliable but it is a mechanical that has limitations. Although I had not planned to buy a new machine this year, on paper my friend's has all the features I want and the price she's asking is a really good deal. She says the only reason she's selling it is because it's a Viking that doesn't fit in her cabinet, and she found a Pfaff that she likes better. I'm guessing that she waffled on the Viking just a little too long to take it back to the dealer for a refund.
The only thing that scares me is buying a computerized machine without a warranty. I'm going to call the closest Viking dealer to make sure they will service it if needed, and ask if they've had many of the particular limited-edition model come in for work.
I keep getting distracted from reading and posting as I remember one more little thing I have to do before Thursday.
