In this life we cannot always do great things. But we can do small things with great love. -Mother Teresa

I won't be doing anything huge today, but hopefully I can do a couple of small things with love.

PODA -
** Church (Kathryn & Ken will be there!)
** Lunch at local cafe
** Nap/rest
** Town meeting to discuss a local issue that I am passionate about (building public tornado shelters in schools)
** plan & prep for the upcoming week

For some reason my board time is off by an hour.....showing 'old' time. Just noticed that. Certainly hoping I don't lose the village again!

I'm ready for church but still coughing a little. Got up & went to the chair after waking to a coughing fit. Later went back to bed & didn't cough the rest of the night. Have been clearing out the chest this morning however. But not as bad as prior days so I'm hoping.............

Not sure dd is going to church with us. She's been coughing as well (before we even got here). I'm still on the fence.

Dh is just about ready, so I'll shut down and finish getting ready.

(((Dee & DD)))) I hope your coughing goes away soon. Coughing seems to be a huge energy sucking activity (IMHO).

I was looking through the last couple of years of journal entries for this date and see that LO was sick and/or coughing in each of them. It makes me wonder if the cause is allergies (same response at the same time of the year) or bacteria/virus. The last 2 years, LO has had strep during this same time so I am leaning toward the bacteria cause.

At breakfast. We got slightly misplaced but the road we turned onto to get down to the correct cross street turned out to be the street with the restaurant. And they have free WiFi.

Slept very well and got off on time despite having to shower twice after putting conditioner on instead of body lotion.

Today is church, then lunch, then 5+ hour drive in three states. I have Mt's recommendation for dinner written down.

I'll be heading out to temple in about 45 minutes for a meeting. I need to throw on clothes, wash face and brush teeth and walk ddogs. I may end up staying straight through - there is a lunch there and additional volunteers may be needed with serving, then there's a 1:30 concert.

I am making a mushroom barley soup this evening.

Good morning, villagers ~
Today I'm not quite done with the library fundraising project, but must do some catching up with home chores. Lots of dishes to wash, a couple of loads of laundry to do. Bills to pay. Need more sleep.

After the event yesterday, the group stayed to do almost the clean up rather than scheduling another day. I woke up this morning with the realization that a couple of furniture items were forgotten, shoved away in a storage room to make room for tables. I still have the library key that I borrowed, so sometime today I'll go try to move them back in place. If they end up being too heavy, I'll ask DH for help, but I'm pretty sure I can do it by myself.

I haven't dealt with the money yet. It won't be much. We had 7 volunteers working, which is a large group for us and I was pleased that so many could be there. Unfortunately, other than the 7 volunteers, in 4 hours we only had 10 customers. Contrast to the annual summer book sale, where we can't seem to get as many volunteers but have so many customers in the same time slot that we can't keep track of the numbers, probably over 100.

It was very discouraging, after so many hours of work to get ready -- the apron exhibit looked lovely, the whole room was decorated for autumn, we had around 500 cookbooks to sell at a really good price, a nice variety of tag sale items for holiday gifts, and we planned food for 50 people with each volunteer paying for the groceries out of our own pockets. I'm almost afraid to add up how much I spent that will not be reimbursed.

But here is 1 good thing to come from it: All year the group's secretary has been insisting that we need to start charging admission for everything we do, and this time the vote passed to charge $5. (That's how we ended up having to cook so much food, to make it "worth the price" of the admission.) A couple of us disagreed with charging admission to a book sale, and I think the lack of customers has proven us right. Hopefully now that question is settled and we won't have to use up any more meeting time on the discussion.

Here's another good thing: There is so much of my queso dip left, all I have to do tomorrow night is cook some pasta to combine with it for an easy casserole. The queso dip has ground beef in it already. Figure out some veggies to go with it, and supper is done.

I'm going to send a big box of fudge to work with DH tomorrow morning. Someone told me fudge freezes well, so I will run an experiment on that.

I'm off for another cup of coffee, then will cuop.

Booksaver thanks for that update on the book sale.

I am trying to get the last of the laundry folded this morning. On fb I posted a photo of the hens one was out she slept in the tree. Sigh forgot to check last night. So today I am grateful for that. I have not been good this yr. With my Nov. gratitude list of 5 things I am grateful for in my off line journal.

Having more coffee. I have been doing some research on gazille work outs on u-tube pretty interesting and useful info. But have not done it yet I will watch some whilemon the ex. bike first bc the gazille is in the basement where we do not have u-tube in the tv.! I need to work on the table and dgd has a bday gathering not sure of the time yet.

Good Morning Dear Ladies,

Sunny here, it was sunny yesterday but then suddenly the wind came out and got the temperature dropped. A variety of clothes worn by shoppers. Some are still wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. Some are wearing the whole winter look with furry boots, hats, scarves, heavy coats.

Sickness brought some un-expected bills. I'm pondering on how to switch my bills around so everyone get paid. Think I finally found insurance for DH. :D :D :D Called the company and they sent me an e-mail with plans and prices. There is one plan that DH and I both like. DH said to wait to make sure nothing new comes out before December 1. Will get him signed up then.

Nancy, I wish I would have had time to take photos of all of the aprons. Every time I looked up from what I was doing, I noticed a pretty one and tried to figure out the detail.

There were several adorable ones for little girls, and a few carpenter aprons from hardware stores for little boys. Lots of bib aprons and half aprons from the 1940s-50s with different types of trim or ruffles, shaped pockets and such. A bunch of modern ones for Christmas.

Oh, one really cute modern one was 2 white circles decorated like a snow man's body. Or I guess that would be a snow woman's body. :) The ties for around the neck looked like a winter scarf.

As for the cookbooks, I was very strict with myself and came home with only 4. From the 1940s, a little collection of recipes using coffee. From the 1930s-40s, a collection from a church in Vermont which I could not resist because they're all written in longhand rather than typed. A book of recipes featuring Vidalia sweet onions (which by coincidence I just read an article claiming many health benefits from eating onions.) And finally a book of Italian recipes by Giada de Laurentiis, because I flipped through it and saw several that looked good and pretty photos.
