As much as we would love fairy tale families, much like fairy tales, they really don't exist.
It's beyond fantastic that we all have a lovely long term relationship here and we can trust each other enough to share what we might not even share with IRL friends or family.
And then I read this quote -
“If you happen to read fairy tales, you will observe that one idea runs from one end of them to the other--the idea that peace and happiness can only exist on some condition. This idea, which is the core of ethics, is the core of the nursery-tales.”
― G.K. Chesterton
It was hard for me to pick just one fairy tale because there are several I like for various reasons. For TODAY, I'm going to say my favorite fairy tale is The Brave Little Tailor. Ask me tomorrow and my answer will probably be a different one.
I have no appointments on my schedule today. I am thankful to have a day to be at home.
B: Omelet and breakfast burritos
L: Beef & Asian stir fry. Dessert = Grapes, banana, mandarin orange slices
D: Chicken salad. The guys will probably put it on bread for a sandwich. I will put it on a bed of lettuce. Dessert - Apple & pineapple chunks
I am spending the morning at temple - we have a sofer or Torah scribe there to evaluate and appraise our Torahs. After that I'm technically "free" but should focus on reducing my stack of papers and doing what needs to be done to get ready to go away on Friday a.m.
Oh, forgot there is program at temple tonight also. If I go, will be fourth day in a row I've been there, most days for an extended part of the day or evening. I'd like to go to the program but will have to see how I feel about it.
I am fighting a catch in my back. Started last week after I worked out, was better after body work last Friday and is creeping back into my back.

Fairy tales. . .I loved reading them as a kid! I think I tend to prefer the French ones over Grimm, though I always liked The Ugly Duckling, which is Danish. Beauty and the Beast is another favorite.
I'm out and about a lot today again. I'd love a day at home; I'm not seeing one in the near future though. Today, I'll work my a.m. routine and other at-home things I need to do around:
9 - 10-ish dentist appt.
B and N to buy Cmas cards for the moms group child care workers so they can be signed by the moms
12:25 - 12:35ish - high school to fit one last kid, hoping this is the last of the last
2:30 - 4-ish (usually later) meet with Univ. student mentoree
7 - 8:30 deacon training class
Off to s2s and get going I need to leave in 55 minutes.
Harriet, did you get snow? I heard that a city near you had snow but it wasn't sticking. I think you and dd2 did see the same Hoarder's episode.
Yesterday I called dm and just left a message that I wasn't coming. Dm called me back, late in the afternoon and sounded so happy as she asked why I wasn't coming. I told her the truth, I have a drs. appt. on Monday and decided not to cancel it. I told her that was the reason I wasn't going with dh to Nashville. I decided to just leave it at that. I just know that if I had gone to her house, she would have derailed my plans and the 2 of us would have ended up at a the local hotel.
Dm was so excited. She is flying to Florida in early Dec. to meet my dstepb, his dw, dd, dsil and their 2 yr. old son. They plan to be there a week and she will be there from Sunday to Wednesday. She has never seen the little boy. They are renting a condo on an island, plus they will go to Orlando to Disney World.
Dd2 just called. The cable company had a mixup on Friday and she didn't get her cable turned on. So today they are suppose to do it. This has held the contractor up, because they wanted the cable ran before they put up sheetrock. Originally she was told between 1 and 3. Then she had a message that it is 8 and 10 this am. I didn't offer to go over because I don't know where she wants what.
I guess I better have breakfast, shower, etc. and head over there. With the girls going to daycare, I hope to put in a full day there and finish up the cleaning.
Helia - BWTG on being proactive in obtaining Christmas Cards for the group to sign.
Lilac - I'm glad things are calm between you and DMom.
LO woke up with a sore throat. This is his 10th day of taking antibodies so whatever bacteria/bug is causing his sore throat isn't being controlled by the antibodies. As soon as the pediatrician office opens, I will call and ask them what to do. I suspect my day at home will be replaced with a trip to doctor
Cathy, I hope you get quick news about the mammogram and find it to be ordinary and boring.
Lilac, we knew something was up yesterday because Sammie was acting like she does before a storm. But even though others got snow, it was totally a wind storm for us. Very powerful but dry. We were at a record low this morning. Brrrr.... ... Maybe you can use this series of events as a first step and gently ask your Mom to be thinking of a date you could go help her in the future.
The Little Red Hen came from an old Russian tale, which I believe makes it count for a fairy tale. I'm not so interested in how it may teach the virtues of work and reward, or idleness and want, I just REALLY like the part about how the poor sweet single-parent homemaker with all the children gets to eat the nicest meal! Also, there's a chicken who is not portrayed as foolish. Chickens are bright and alert, so this fairy tale makes sense! Doesn't hurt that all the children are obedient.

As usual, I find myself traveling out of the house today when I really need to spend my time around here. I don't know if ya'll would even remember that when dd15 was in elementary school she chipped a tooth. Dentist wants to take a look at that today and repair the bonding. So yet another trip to the other side of big city. Realizing my complaints about constant trips away echo ((OKay and LO)).
Tinker bell comes to mind here we watched the last part of it yesterday.
It is foggy here today.
I have fed the hens.
Trying to get my mojo up for today.
Meal plan needed. X
Granny duty later on and some carpool as well.
