Good Morning!

Our weather is slowly headed toward warm up - we are at 10 degrees (wind chill) now but will reach 32 this afternoon. Tomorrow we are supposed to be above freezing for the first time in 8 days! Yesterday the sun came out and melted enough of the ice on the roads so some of the schools can resume today. Some of the local schools are still closed today, but LO's school is one of them that are going to open up.

Lots going on behind the scenes. I am hopeful today will show some results to prayers.

PODA -
** the meat for Sunday's dinner at church is supposed to arrive today at local butcher. 7 large turkeys and 7 large hams. We will pick it up and distribute it to the volunteers who will cook them.
** The replacement part to fix our home heater is supposed to arrive today. The HTCL fellas should be here installing it.
** Couple deliveries from Amazon due. Hopefully the roads won't delay these deliveries.
** LO will probably have extra home work to do (Monday and Tuesday homework) we will plan on it and then hope to be pleasantly surprised
** Duck Dynasty Christmas special is showing tonight. I probably won't be able to catch it on TV, but will put a reminder on calendar to watch it online tomorrow.

B: Omelette/Breakfast burrito

You reminded me, Helia, that I have to remember what the gifts were I gave ddil#2 to wrap. Then I have to send a list of who gets what to her. Hard thing is some are for her and DS-A. I only realized later how sick I was leading up to our leaving and how much I couldn't get done.

Going over to dbil/dsil's in a little bit. Dh hasn't returned from his walk yet.

I dropped him off at school yesterday and within a minute of leaving him my engine light dinged and came on. He checked under the hood last night and noticed the antifreeze level was down. Added what we had but have to get more this morning. Hoping that's the only cause. I get a tad nervous after our episode with the catalytic convertor this spring. That little thing ended up costing us at least $1,500. (by the time we added in car rental, the trip back down to Haggerstown and motel and meals on the road). The new convertor itself was just about $1,000. Don't know if I ever said, but even the suitcases were HOT clear through to the tops when we unloaded them from my van into the rental. So blessed that the car didn't catch on fire.

Good morning, villagers ~
I've been indoors 2 days in a row and I was really hoping I could go out to run a few errands today. Not going to happen. The radio djs are giving a cold weather warning every other sentence, actual temp +9F but wind chill -25F.
Plus there was a slight chance I would have been able to get my car out of the garage without shoveling before, but we got more snow last night so no way. It's a compact car that rides low to the ground, so it gets stuck in anything over a couple of inches.

Phooey!

This afternoon I'll go out to start the car and let it run a bit while I at least shovel the sidewalk between the house and garage. I'll have to do the long driveway in bits. I have a lunch date with a good friend tomorrow and I do not want to have to postpone it, we've had a hard enough time coordinating schedules to get this date. If I can get the driveway cleared by tonight, I'll be able to go to the post office for the mail.

In the meantime, still plenty of stuff to do indoors this morning. I should make menu plans and a grocery list for when I finally do get to the store.

Poor Tobias! Poor Harriet! I hope he gets well soon.

I'm up and s2s. Not bad considering I was to bed at 1 a.m. Dh's conference call never materialized. The chair had technical difficulties and kept letting dh know he was working on them and to expect a call but the meeting went forward without dh. Sigh... I wouldn't mind giving up productivity today if there had been some last night but exhaustion is the last thing dh needs right now.

I did finish the bulletin for this Sunday while he was waiting so that's ready to email off today.

Today I have to work on fully assigning the parts for Dec. 24, getting the minister's laptop up and running to produce the newsletter, 'building' the template for the newsletter, writing one or two contributions so the secretary can practice what I'm teaching her about inserting files into the template, and start the sermon. I have many ideas for the sermon so need to get those together into a draft. I also have to get the prayers of the people written for Dec. 24 since they are parts to be assigned.

As phrases or sparks occur to me, I make a note on scraps of paper so one of the tasks today is to gather up all those scraps of paper into one place and copy the contents into appropriate files (I know there's a napkin in my purse, for example.)

I thought I would check in and join in on the warming trend., It is 30* here 31* is out high temp. Staying out of the kitchen so h. can do his lunch and morning routine....had to go check on the hens I let them out before day light so when the sun did come up they were making a reacket and h. Was pounding on some thing on his truck to get the battery termomal to give the connection. It did start and he has left for work.

I put the rug that was drying back in the spot it goes. Cookies are in the oven.

Cuop from yesterday and saw Harmony's comment about 2014 calendar. I need to do that, too. I've been delaying writing in the new purse calendar because I hoped I'd find one with larger daily squares, but it's to the point now that I already have several appointments and events to enter for spring and summer. Once I pencil those in, I'll have a better idea about scheduling projects.

For several year, DMIL printed a family calendar as Christmas presents for everyone. She included national holidays as well as everyone's birthdays and anniversaries, so that was my refrigerator calendar. Unfortunately, last Christmas she had computer trouble and couldn't do the calendar. I really missed it, so I was glad to hear she's trying to do one for this Christmas.

I'm most eager to get to the post office. I know the mail is safe there in our box, and bills are caught up, but I'm waiting on packages -- DH's Christmas gift, a Miss Read book for which I've been searching for some time, and a T-Tapp set of DVDs that I caught on her Cyber Monday 50% sale.

I will probably give DH his gift early. It's a heat & massage wrap for neck & shoulders. He's working a lot of mandatory overtime, so I hope this thingy will help him relax at night.
