Looks like a slow day in the neighborhood today... and I hope that means everyone is just relaxing and not working themselves crazy.
It has been a slow day here in lucy-land. We went to church, but afterwards, dh and I just curled up on our opposite ends of the couch and napped... w/only the tv and the Christmas tree lights on... and I just thought, this is about as good as it gets. I wish neither of us ever had to leave this couch.
Unfortunately, I desperately DO need to leave the couch, and WALK in the OPPOSITE direction of the kitchen, b/c stepping on the scales was NOT relaxing at all this morning. *** EEK *** My Sunday weight has gone up a pound each week this month. And we're not even eating Christmas goodies yet!!! Sooo... new resolve to start my day w/exercise beginning tomorrow. And trying very hard to listen to hunger cues and not just eat b/c food is there and looks good.
DH has emptied the dishwasher and taken the trash to the road. I finished the laundry yesterday (although I've got a pretty high mountain of ironing to do -- but hey -- now that I've got my dvr, I should be much happier w/that task, right?)
Saw a good movie last night -- Philomena. It is a true story. It is kinda sad, but we both were really glad we saw it. It stars Judi Dench.
Need to call dmom, I guess.
Wonder if ds/ddil are snowed in at ddil's parents' house. They got so much snow that they had to postpone their family Christmas get-together.

I hate that b/c they are six hours away and ddil & her family don't get to see each other a lot -- but at least she's with her parents, and I think she will see both grandmothers. And dgs got to see his first snow!

She has already sent pictures.
WTG,
LO, on winning the holiday sweater contest!!!
I think we're supposed to be celebrating Advent, too,
Kathryn --

-- Methodists, you know. In our church we do light the Advent wreath every Sunday and today the sermon was about Mary. Pastor dressed up as Mary * we have a female pastor now! -- Just so y'all don't think that was a comic sort of thing! * and talked about the reality of not knowing if she was ready, having to step out in faith. Pastor is very young; her first child just turned a year old -- so it was very believable to hear such a young woman speaking as if she were facing the sort of news Mary received.
However -- I grew up Baptist. Hard for me not to think Christmas begins as soon as Thanksgiving is over.
* sigh * Must REALLY be hard for strict-Advent observers to see Christmas decorations before Halloween.
Cowinkie -- WTG w/all your clean-up/decluttering!!! Maybe when I've been out of the rat race another year, I'll have some energy, too, you think?
Maybe I'm a lost cause. But I probably wouldn't be keeping all my lists and cards and stuff if I were REALLY a lost cause. There is still hope for me. Maybe.
I am truly enjoying Christmas more this year, even in spite of the worry re: dmom. Having all my shopping and decorating done without the stress of school added to it has been AMAZING. Sitting and looking at the tree while NOT grading exams is a totally new (and wonderful) experience. Just a few items left to buy, filling in a few gifts, getting some cash for some, stocking stuffers.
Waving to all!!! Hope you have a good night and stay warm.

Y'all in the sunshine state and the desert... y'all think of the rest of us while you are all toasty and enjoying the sunshine!
