Last Friday, last chance to for Friday conga this year.
This has been a weird week with Christmas in the middle and yesterday feeling like another Monday and now the weekend coming through again. But I'm truly glad it's Finally Friday again.
Trying for a "normal" Friday of finishing the week and getting ready for the end of the year and a fresh new start...

Wow, I really don't want to think of it being the final Friday.
I leave home a week from today (but not until the night, we'll move to a hotel so we can close up the house in an orderly fashion, then flight out early the next day.) At least, that's the plan assuming weather co-operates.
I'm up. Not s2s, but I've had my chocolate and emptied the dishwasher and dish drainer.
Next up, wrap dd's present but I had to send an email to the other family we had Christmas with (CM had invited us and another family for Christmas dinner - that mom had just had surgery so wasn't up to doing a big meal.)
Putting away things I've been thinking over our Christmas and how wonderful it has been even though it is so different than usual. Not as many decorations and no presents, but full of friends and fellowship so not lacking at all.

There were two posts from yesterday that stood out for me:
1. OKay's observation of it being a wild month and she became a mother and great-grandmother in the same month!
2. Harriet's news which highlights the need for a fainting icon.
Just thought I'd highlight those for those who are rushed this season and didn't get a chance to fully cuop.

Yesterday was just exhausting with dmom and dbro. Will post more about it later but came home just wiped out emotionally and physically. Was gone from home almost 12 hours - last night I came in around 9 p.m., read for an hour w/o even checking email or here or anything else and went to bed at 10 p.m. It felt like it should have been at least midnight!
I did quick CUOP from yesterday - what big news for dd and family, Harriet! (Yes, a fainting icon is badly needed!)
As usual on Friday morning, I need to do clean up for dcleaning lady. DMacs has PT today at 10 instead of tomorrow and I'll need to do some clean up in the car before allowing him in. Tonight I'm supposed to be at temple to be the "pulpit officer" at services.
Wishing I could do nothing today.
Tomorrow night we were having dinner with friends to celebrate their/our birthdays but they were in NY because his father was ill and they were expecting the end soon. We scheduled something else (taking out an elderly friend - her dh passed away several weeks ago) and the original friends have said now they are coming back.
On the Final Friday subject, I've been thinking of how I don't have tax season hanging over me. For 30 something years, when the first of the year comes, tax season is right behind. We've made plans for two trips this spring that I otherwise couldn't have done.

jumping back online to post this final Friday.
slow pack up at dd's place. took down 3 loads for recycle bin. rinsed K bin.
I had a rest while dd finished up on phone call.
Drive home was parking lot pace for a good hour. It took 2.5 hours instead of 1hr 20min.
quick trip to store for ph cord. I found old one had detached one wire, and several calls have been lost mid stream lately. Maybe it wasn't the ph at all.
Also bought some veg , bananas, turkey breast. (wondering if the turkey with its helped me sleep.)
had a snooze while a storm rumbled through.
walked 3 k.
made dinner - chopped up veg in new blender/chopper machine to make a colourful pasta sauce.
dishes washed
bed time here. I'll still need to grab things out of suitcase.
I'm thinking of the new habit I want to fix into my lifestyle next year. Which is nearly here.
Glad you had a good but different Christmas Kathryn. Wonderful you could catch up with CM. Its good DS enjoyed his day too.
(((Twins)))
best wishes - all in village.

Good Morning!
Trying for a "normal" Friday
Me too!
I was up/down several times during the night. LO is so congested. I did the humidifier, bathroom steam, vicks rub on the bottle of his feet, OTC meds and he was finally able to sleep. Not a deep sleep but tossing and turning. I made ...hum....3...or maybe it was 4 trips to the bathroom when he was coughing so hard that he became sick to stomach. Nights like that just become a blur to me. I just do the best I can and know these young childhood long restless nights will soon pass.
The night was filled with other happenings. A little bit after midnight a man ran from law - crashed his vehicle - pulled a gun and shot at the law - and then ran into pasture nearby. He escaped into the darkness. So there is an active manhunt going on in the surrounding 2 miles. Helicopter flying overhead and cazillion law enforcement are doing house to house search. They were focusing on one of the new housing developments across the road from us but didn't find the person so now they are regrouping and spreading out.
I called Dnephew & Dbro around 5am to make sure they are aware of the manhunt. Dnephew owns hundreds of acres this area and the cowboys working for him start at daybreak to check cattle. They always have guns with them (varmint control) . As long as they are aware there is an armed person nearby, they will be ready and not caught off guard.as they go through their daily chores.
I'm thankful for our outside dogs. They tell us if anyone is nearby.
Soooooooo - the night wasn't the best for sleeping but sunrise always brings the hope of a fresh start. Bring on the "normal" day!

I popped in here for a quick skim with my morning tea and just had to see what Twins was talking about re: Harriet! And. . Woo Hoo!! Congratulations!!
Yes, a fainting icon would be apropos! So many little boys in your life. What fun!
Wow! That is not a very normal night, OK. Hoping things "normalize" during the day. .
Nice to hear of your day, Lynlee. You're back home now, I take it.
Dh and I are up after going to bed after midnight. We need to curb that habit. . . Dh has gone for a run. I am s2s-ed, charging my phone, working on the kitchen as well as my tea. I have laid out my clothes for the trip, started packing my toiletry bag, and put back my camera battery which I charged yesterday. Dogs have been out once but a certain puppy was too distracted by sticks, etc. to even go potty. . ..
Dh gave each of the kids a task last night for our trip. Dd18 figured out and bought tix for the aquarium. GG figured out and bought tix for the sky deck. Ds figured out dinner Saturday night. Dd15 figured out breakfast places near the hotel and maybe dinner Sunday night. . .
We're aiming to leave by 11 a.m., but I'm doubtful we can do that since that is 2 hours from now, teens haven't appeared yet, someone needs to drop off the dogs, which will take a good hour, AND we're not packed. . .
Morning todos:
- switch laundry
- letter in the mail
- wrap gifts for dfriends E and C plus an extra gift for GG since I don't expect E and C to have a gift for her
- kitchen spiffed
- Walgreens for cranberry tabs; I am nearly out and forgot to get more. Since my last bad UTI, I've started taking these regularly.
- dogs meals individually bagged up in marked baggies
- dog gear packed up
- dogs dropped off
- guinea pigs loaded with food and water
- hens loaded with food and water
- cat loaded with food and water; litter scooped would be good too
- PACK: clothes, toiletries and a few light meds, books, car snacks - fruit, pretzels, crackers, trying to keep it healthy-ish
Maybe this can be done in 2 hours if we all pitch in. . . I'm off to switch laundry. Dd18 is up. . . I did take Maia out to go potty again after I wrote earlier bit of post.

Helia - Enjoy your trip!
Harriet - Congratulations! Do they have a due date?
I'm struggling with lack of focus. I'm not going to beat myself up - somedays are just like that without a reason. Today I do have a reason (excuse?) as I'm listening to the helicopter fly back/forth overhead and observing the police cars driving the road in front of our home v-e-r-y slowly as the manhunt continues. I am keeping an eye on the cattle across the road from us. They will run from anyone on foot so I'm using them as a warning system.

That round successful done.
AND the manhunt is over - they caught the suspect (less than a mile from me) so the helicopter and police are gone.
LO is up and doing better this morning. Just got him out of the bathtub and into fresh clean clothes (he fell asleep before his bath last night so I let him sleep in his clothes).
