How will you offer support today?

Will you support a cause?
support someone's recovery?
support a friend in need?
support a group effort?
support your family?
support nutrition or health?

Have you noticed how important your support is lately? You make a big difference!

That's the joy of being a worship leader, I can answer Yes! to all those questions and not have to go out of my way to do so.

(Actually, the last one, supporting health and nutrition isn't a given on a usual Sunday but there's a pot luck after church and I'm bringing a spinach salad (and squares and fruit punch.)

I'm up, dressed, remembered to put a belt on under my skirt to clip the mike transmitter to and have packed two boxes and the food is in the car. My preaching bag is ready by the door. Just have to remember some plastic glasses I'm donating to the church and then I'm done (oh and some food for the food pantry.)

We leave in 25 minutes so I'd better get my rear in gear because I have to eat breakfast, dry and style my hair and finish my makeup. No time for nail polish, sigh...

Hmmm... well...
Will you support a cause? Supporting my church w/my attendance?
support someone's recovery? support a friend in need? support a group effort? support your family?
I'll be calling to check on * dcousin * dmom * dmil -- which is certainly a group effort these days ;)
support nutrition or health? I have been trying to cut back on calories this week, mainly by being very firm about not eating after supper. Today will be the real test -- movie night. But I think I can do it.

Must s2s!

Well you're ahead of me, Kathryn. I'm only halfway through breakfast. Need to get my "rear in gear" here too. Need to be ready for church in about 45 minutes and there's lots to do to get me ready to go out the door. ;) Have a good supportive Sunday everyone.

Good morning, villagers ~
Yes to supporting others. (As I'm sure I've been boring all of you to tears with reports of volunteer activities. )
I need to do better about supporting my own health and well-being. I walked to the library Thurs-Fri-Sat so I wouldn't take a parking space from a book sale customer. I walked pretty fast and it took about 10 minutes to get there, and another 10 to get home. Felt good to be out in the sun, and I wasn't out in it long enough to worry about getting burnt.

Today will be a rest day because every day after this will be very busy and social.

I only brought home the equivalent of 1 shopping bag of books from the sale, carrying a few home in my backpack each day. Normally I would have bought more to be able to give the library more money, but this time I didn't find as many books I couldn't live without. I kept telling myself that it is possible to give them a donation without bringing home boxes of books. I'll write a check to the building fund.

My friend Sue made up for my lack of purchasing by buying all of the children's story books we had left at mid-morning yesterday. I had Emailed a bunch of sewing friends to let them know we had several years of quilting magazines available at the sale. Sue replied that she doesn't need any magazines, but her church in The Big City needs books for kids. They will be providing meals 3 times a week all summer to the kids who usually get free lunches at school. They want to give a book to every child who comes for a meal. Sue was thrilled that we were having our clearance sale ($5 for all), she filled up 5 boxes which I helped her carry up the stairs and out to her car. I found out last night when I was counting money that she had written her check for quite a bit over the $5, too.

(I didn't usually take money at the sale. That's a safety thing, having more than 1 trusted volunteer handling the cash so that no one can accuse any of us of stealing. Since I always do the final count and the bank deposit, I like having 1 or 2 other people help with the cash boxes and do the initial count.)

All of the quilting magazines went with someone else. :) I was thrilled at that, because our only option would have been to put them in the recycle bin. I was sad at the thought of throwing away so many pretty photos and patterns. It made me feel good to see someone carry those boxes out. I think the man said he was going to give them to his grandmother in a nursing home.

No, volunteer or other supportive activities are not boring - I really enjoy hearing about lots of them here, whether formal or not. I wonder if ya'll realize how many times, just in passing, you mention pitching in to help. community, animals, neighbors, groups, friends, going to funerals, writing letters, babysitting. I get rather impressed.

Hoping so much I can soon give in-person support to my dd34! :) We are calling and emailing often.

Dd15 has been telling me about some support she needs. She is keenly aware that her usual opportunities for physical fitness have ended with the finish of her school year. I went to walk with her early this morning and we chatted about what might fill in that blank space. She's convinced that as soon as she becomes more sedentary, she tends toward weight gain and becoming unfit, and that may be true.

HRH and I are also trying to support her need to study for the honors biology final, even though she thinks she needs support in going shopping. :D We supported (read: "nagged") her into several quirky study helps for her honors civics final, like a Bingo game study guide and another odd one found online, and she pulled off a 96, which was a big "whew" moment for her and a delightful we-told-you-so moment for her parents. (Those are just SO important. )

Support for HRH's Way-Of-Eating in sharing the breakfast he needed even though I really just wanted eggs. He doesn't always do well with eggs (digestive reasons) and so I helped prepare his idea of breakfast VLTs (veggie patty, lettuce and tomato) with a smile on my face!

Ooooooh, trying to be supportive with dh/dd as they bicker between themselves. Would just like to hibernate. Why can't they get along?

I'm afraid this is a busy day, would like to just have down time but probably won't work that way. We are going to the very large crowded and noisy local festival tonight with friends. They have VIP tickets so we'll be in a separate area but I still despise going. Other thoughts for the day are the local St. Judes home and the market, and dh and dd are planning to go out to do some "apartment" shopping for her, if they can get along long enough. :?

-breakfast
-rewash laundry that I left in the washer (no R  ) too long.
-meds/vitamins for me
-clear and wipe down kitchen counters
-clear and wipe as needed breakfast bar counter

I took ddogs out for their walk so they wouldn't be under my feet all the time. I am just about to loose it completely today. Getting out with ddogs also got me away from dh and dd.

She asked him the other day if she could take some cookie sheets and a casserole dish from our house to use at her apartment. He (thinking he was being magnanimous) told her to make a list of some things she needed and they would go shopping. She shudders much like Harriet at the thought of a list and all she wanted was permission to get a few things, she wasn't excited about a shopping trip with ddad, who actually loves buying things. So he's put out because he thought he was being wonderful, and she's put out because she didn't want to go shopping with him in the first place. :? And I am relaxing a bit.

Back to tasks in last post....Only one egg left so I boiled it for breakfast and immediately made a turkey sandwich w tomato, lettuce & mustard for my lunch so that's done. And I was not happy about there being only one egg left and all the milk gone as well.

-rewash laundry that I left in the washer too long
-meds/vitamins for me
-clear and wipe down kitchen counters - this is almost done
-clear and wipe as needed breakfast bar counter
-straighten up GR

Dh is resorting to (from his childhood I am sure) bread and milk. Seems he can get that past his palate. ;)

Just got home from church. Now have a bunch of things to take up to the storage unit. Will try to accomplish that first (after I change clothes). BBL
