Friday the 13th!

Hello to all... just thought I'd start a new day since it is 1:00 a.m. here in Dixie, and I'm ready for a fresh start.
Funeral went well -- EXCEPT -- for some crazy reason, funeral director had us begin the recessional (? is that the word I mean?) when ds first started his last song. DH had intended to have us seated until ds finished that song, then organ music as we followed the casket out & departed the church. Ooohhh... dh was just about to have a total come apart. Besides the family missing the song, this meant ds did not walk out with the rest of the family, and I think that may have hurt his feelings a little, and at the very least, left him feeling sorta surprised about this change in the expected order of the service.
But at any rate... on the ride to the cemetery, we managed to get him calmed down a bit, convincing him that this was NOT some conspiracy between dbil & the funeral director to cut out one of the songs...
and ddil even asked the other funeral director about it when we got to the cemetery. He said, "That was Mr. ___'s (The Long-time Owner/Director) call, and I just thought y'all had talked to him since we talked. When he comes around, I just say, 'Yes sir.'" Well... of course it could still be some deep-seated jealousy on dbil's part, you know, but we all (ds, ddil, and I, at least) seriously doubt that, and dh felt better knowing that it came from Mr. Owner's direction, not just blatant disregard for what we had told the other director when we planned the funeral. And I even mentioned it to dbil too, actually, that we hated that ds didn't get to walk out with us, and he seemed surprised too... said, "Yeah... Mr. Owner is just... I don't know... he runs a funeral with military precision... I don't know what he was thinking..."
So... as I told dh, he did all he could do, and if his mother is looking down on us, she knows he did all he could do.
But otherwise, it was all very nice. Dmil looked beautiful. The flowers were beautiful. The weather was beautiful. Dnephew did a wonderful job with his remarks. The congregational song, "Victory in Jesus," began the service on such an uplifting tone, and our much-loved former pastor did a wonderful job.
AND -- my dmom made it in time to pay her respects before they closed the casket. * whew *
DGS came home with us and spent the night, dcousin is also here tonight and will leave in the morning, and ds has safely arrived at his destination 6 hours away. Life is good.
My Friday goal... hmmmm... I might just undertake to plant three beautiful hydrangeas I brought home from the funeral.
Must go to dmil's house and clean out refrigerator, return dishes to people. Dh doesn't want to leave that undone till we return next week.
Hope y'all have a beautiful day!
