Happy Independence Day!

Our weather is forecast to be pretty today, for which we are grateful.

Not much planned for today. DH will probably have to mow while he has the chance, because storms are supposed to return tomorrow.

I am finishing the monthly financial reports for the library group and sewing group.
Once I get those Emails with attachments sent out this morning, then I can focus on our personal finances and write checks to pay bills. There is no mail today, of course, but I can walk to the post office later so the payments will go out in tomorrow's mail.

I suppose there is a chance we'll have a family gathering sometime this weekend. Hmm, better go put my good jeans in the washer just in case we end up going to a picnic.

Dd15 is off with dbil, dstepson and some of their friends to play frisbee golf this morning before the heat gets to be too much. They are playing a new course that just opened up, taking advantage of a day off to enjoy. I doubt that this new course will be as shady and lush under tall trees as the ones they are used to. So I expect dd to come home pretty tired. She left with ice water, though.

Morning Daily Card is underway here, with jeans laundry spinning.

We did have more storm-ish weather last evening, remnants of Arthur giving us one last whoosh, perhaps? The bands went quite a bit inland and of course then met some inland moisture that was ready to be stirred up again - contributing to the delinquency of weather, lol. I hope those north of us didn't have much more trouble with Arthur.

I'll be anxiously checking the mail today for a new DVD I've ordered. Ever since I was a child, a favorite thing has been ordering something and checking the mail in anticipation. I guess that came from the fabric clubs that used to be popular. Back then, when folks said "allow 6 weeks for delivery" it was quite true. Now we criticize if senders don't use Priority Mail, and we expect something within days.

We had the first of our monsoon rains last night. We received a whole quarter inch of rain. tThat is not what I think of when I hear monsoon. but we will take it. It has been 125 days since it rained.

Good morning! Happy Independence Day to those who celebrate! We also have a perfect weather forecast - clear, no chance of rain, and a high of 75*.

I finally got a clothes order yesterday I'd been waiting for for 2+ weeks. They never sent me an order confirmation, which they always have done in the past the day the order is put in the mail. Since this company is going out of business, I thought maybe I'd been taken. . . .I was happy to see that was not so! and happy to get some new tops and a pair of cropped pants. I have another pair - and they are THE most comfortable capris/pants I've ever worn!! I had to get a second pair.

Getting dd16 to where she needed to be this morning for the parade was an. . . interesting experience. The drumline was meeting behind the Univ. union. Of course, all roads within a 5+ block radius are blocked off and dd16 has no idea what the meeting place looks like and has no sense of navigating the campus. .. Finally, I got her to a blocked off intersection, which I thought was the closest possible point to the meeting place, when we saw another drummer wandering around the area with his dad. I quickly got dd16 out of the car and told her to follow him. Once out and set up with her drum, she immediately found another friend. They went wandering off together in the general direction of the other drummer when I noticed 2 other drummers also wandering in that general direction - and yet another being dropped off. So, when I left, there were about 6 drummers wandering around in the same general area and direction. The numbers gave me hope that they would indeed find their meeting place. . .

Dh went for a longer run this morning. I skipped. I'm aiming for tomorrow; it felt too tight time-wise this morning.

My day:
- get ready to go out the door
- go watch the parade, leave around 9:30. (It starts at 10. We'll just stand and watch and w/ dh's parking tag, we can park almost anywhere on campus
- groc. store - didn't do this yesterday as I was never able to connect w/ dh about what we would be grilling
- tutoring 2 - 3:30
- some housecleaning and prep for friends
- 6pm, friends start arriving for dinner. Dh will probably buy some fireworks to shoot off here. Our city doesn't have a fireworks display. Odd, yes. . . The parade here also isn't as huge deal as it is in the smaller city where I grew up.

Thank you, BookSaver! I am so amused at myself. My mental calendars aren't lining up well. My "what is going on with our house" mental calendar is not lining up with my "what is going on with the rest of earth" mental calendar! I've had a "Saturday feeling" about today as well, and half-thoughts of tomorrow as a Sunday. I need to get used to summer without the insistence of a school schedule to keep me straight!

Sunny here but just slightly on the cool side, I'm sure it will warm up quickly.

Another Holiday weekend at WM! It will be busy!

Tomorrow is one co-worker's birthday and a small group of us are getting her a cake to celebrate. She is an older lady 76 I think this year. lost both of her children and the grandchildren are scattered through out the world, so her Walmart family makes sure to remember her each year.

Off to start the adventures.

What on earth is going on with my computer??? Every time... I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME I click my mouse, this little box that says "Mailbox View Setting" pops up in the center of the screen, and sometimes my mail starts popping up again... Yes, yes, yes, I'm still using aol... but this has NEVER happened before. * sheesh * The only way I can see to type is to just move it over to the side, b/c when I 'x' it out, then when I click back here, IT comes back again. aAAUUGUGUGHHHH!!!

The only reason I'm awake at this hour anyway is b/c I was so miserable w/allergy problems... got up to take more antihistamine.

This is going to drive me crazy, and if it is still doing it when dh gets here... oh my...He will totally go insane. Maybe if I restart the computer?
