First and Foremost Friday

Post by Elizabeth »

I'll do it! I'll do it!

I don't get to open much, I am not an early bird! However, tonight, I am up late. I just finished a job application.

Here is some other stuff I got done 'yesterday': errands, computer fix, reset of home page to eliminate goof off potential, email check, library book recheck, extreme cat box clean, and the aforementioned job application. In other news, I found the 'missing' 50k. I had read some dates wrong, so it was there all along. Bummer. I really wanted it to have gone missing, because I know the investment company would have found it and credited it properly. So far, neither my radiator nor my roof has leaked.

I have done cat care, but still need to do me care. Good night!

I sure do pray a job falls in your lap soon, Elizabeth. This has truly been a long haul for you! Know the angst, watching dsonil go through it for so long. Of course he has a job presently but we know it's not going to last very long. He did get a call from his old 'boss' at a refrigeration company telling him "I have a job for you" if you want it. He's talked with the guy in charge (FL Citrus)/ He has applied and I think talked with the guy in charge. It would involve a move but we'll see, as he, again, would have to take a re-certification test and as he said to dd "You know how I am on tests". :| So won't get too excited yet. Funny thing is it's in a place we'd never heard of until a few months ago -it's the same small place gd15 was supposed to go to a group home. Plenty of pictures of bears there. I won't be going out alone at night, if that's the case.

Dh just came dragging in to give me his pay check. Don't like seeing him like this. "Old age" he says. Sure that's 'some' of it, but.............

Had to turn the furnace on again for 1 round this morning. Now I'll turn it off and hope Mother Nature keeps it warmer in here. Have to go sort laundry and get up to the laundry room before it's taken up. I've not done laundry in probably 10 days so there's plenty.

Dee, it is supposed to warm up for us so I'm guessing you'll warm up to over the weekend.

I'm up. Lights out at midnight. Dh felt me stirring at 6 and listened to the news with me and then got up to exercise. I fell back asleep but was woken at 6:30 and 6:45 by calls for ds from the hospital. They needed him to come in for a day shift (starting in 30 minutes) and he said yes if they could get someone to cover his evening shift. The second call was to say they needed him more in the evening than the daytime so he went back to bed.

I got out of bed just past 7 but haven't been productive.

Dh has a doctor's appointment for his tiny patch of eczema with our new doctor at the old house (our doctor left the practice.) I was thinking of going out to meet the new doctor but am too slow moving. Instead, I'll probably go for a bike ride and then get dressed for the day (I'm in workout clothes right now.)

Change of plans.

Ds is up now, want IKEA for breakfast and invited me too. I've already eaten but he's up for biking there (it is just under 6 miles and pathway almost the whole way) so we are heading off as soon as I get dressed into real clothes as opposed to workout clothes.

I was up around 8 a.m. and still tired. Dh and our friends left around 9 for the day trip and then I straightened up some for dcleaning lady, who is here now. I need to get my grocery list made and the day planned out. They may not be back until close to dinner so I'm on my own - at least the house will be clean.

I was awake early this morning, also, a little after 6 am. Dh was still asleep and didn't want to disturb him, so didn't get up till a little after 7 am. After breakfast I cleaned up the kitchen and dh went to work in the back yard to do some more trimming. We have several palm trees that are getting taller and need to have the bottom branches cut so one can walk under them while mowing etc. He came in after filling three barrels full. Trash collection is tomorrow.

So far I have:
--collected inside trash
--lol, sheets & towels out of dryer and folded
--another lol into washer
--s/s bathrooms
--called Dr. office for dh to move appointment from 10:30 am to 11 am on the 24th ( their request )
--finished morning routine
--wrote a short grocery list for dh for W-M

Next up is to get a bite of lunch, then finish weekly routine, then I should be mostly done for the weekend.

I got a text from my dcousin, the one in Alaska for the summer. She says her ds wrote that he and ddil are expecting a baby. She didn't say when though. He is in his late 30s and she is mid 20s; this will be their first child. I might give her a call this evening.

This is the first day in over a week that we have no rain in the forecast.

I have enjoyed reading about your vacation, Helia. It is interesting to hear about other countries and see your pictures. When we visited dfamily in Germany we found the people there very friendly and helpful. They were happy to speak English with us if they could. If not, they found someone who could. We had studied before we left and knew a few basic words and phrases to help in communication.

Back from grocery and cleaning lady has done her magic. I am going to post a lot today to help keep me on task and to sort out my priorities since dh won't be around to pitch in.

Items to cook that require more prep:
-salmon
-challah
-baba ganoush appetizer
-squash casserole

Less prep:
tomato caprese stacks
cut up water melon for dessert
couscous, which Israeli guests will supervise
dill sauce for salmon

This round:
-start challah in breadmaker
-finish unloading car
-get started on salmon - have oven poached and cooling before challah needs oven

For the record, I am just extremely tired and unmotivated right now and my back hurts.

Yes, believe it's supposed to be yet another nice weekend here, Kathryn. Can hardly believe it's been at least 10 nice weekends in a row. Hoping we get at least 1 more next weekend -it's Christmas in July the 26th. (also our anniversary) CHistorically it's rained most years. People really decorate for that day& there's lots of prizes. Dh has already started.

Did 2 LOL, folded & now need to put it away -some to the suitcase. Went to the post office to check on mail -dd had quite a bit but still not anything she's really looking for. Then dh needed me to go to a town about 15 miles away to pick up spark plugs for dgs14's race car. DS-A & his famiy are camping towards Buffalo/Lake Ontario so will not be at the races with dgs. So dh and others who help out with the car plan to be there for him. Sure only reason DS won't be is that it's DDIL#2's birthday. Think I'll take a 'book break' and then get the laundry put away.
