Always liked him too, FF, but didn't realize he had that number of years on him. I thought about starting a thread earlier, but like to give others a chance.

We didn't get up very early ourselves. Alert! Alert! Dh never got up until after 8A.M.!!! Unheard of, but nice. We leave for Lancaster, PA tomorrow morning -when we get around. He wants to clean the car today and stop at a dealer on the way to see what our trade in would be. He's so dead set on getting a new car and I'm not ready -though I know we probably need to do it this year BEFORE we go to FL. We have over 150,000 miles on this one and there's a lot of new parts in the past year or much less: catalytic converter, radiator, alternator, battery, shocks, tires, windshield wipers (know those last two are common place). So guess I have to bite the bullet and ask our financial advisor to start looking at turning in some investments. So we'll see.

Think I'll do dishes and do a round robin in here. The living room area really needs dusting but think I'll wait until we return. No sense dusting and having it set empty.

Dh is out raking and cleaning around our driveway (we had already decided we were staying home today.) It's rained since early yesterday afternoon & we've had a 1/2" so far. Races were cancelled last night so DS-A didn't have to think about missing them. Sure dgs14 is spending the week with his Mom as DS & family are camped out toward Buffalo -heard they were staying a week. Was hoping to get checks (for dd and me) from him this week. Not going to happen obviously. Dh told him on Friday not to forget he owed the 2 of us and he said, "They were supposed to pick them up the day of dgs2's party". We didn't ask him about them then as that was when he got the phone call about their assistant coach who had died that day. So we'll get them maybe next weekend. He had said earlier that he had checks for us, so not really his fault.

Guy across the way has now not been here for over 2 weeks -very unusual for him. Dh will start making inquiries to see if his neighbor knows what's happened to him. He's quite disabled and his MH up for sale -we think making preparations to move into assisted living. He has Huntingdon's disease (as do all of his siblings and one or 2 have died from it so not surprising).

We're wondering the same thing, FF. Yes, Huntingdon's is bad. He could barely maneuver and we were all pretty scared about him driving the MH -he went to FL each winter. Would not surprise me if he's gone to either 'live' with someone or into assisted living. He's had a few accidents lately with the MH and all were beginning to wonder what to do. The only thing over there is the hose that went to his septic tank but can't remember if he used to leave anything else. The RV next to him is owned by a guy who has not stayed in it for at least the last 4 years. His wife died and he can't bring himself to stay there. Think it's too much for him to think about selling it, so he pays the lease every year (which is now about $1,900!)

I did hear dh say that one word, not in his vocabulary, yesterday -"Retire". That'll be the day. Don't know just what he would do with his days if he wasn't working. We were talking with friends about how things 'evolve' and your mind set gradually changes with change. That's when he said he was beginning to think about it. Surprised me! But he does work too hard and almost everyone notices that he does. Except perhaps the campowner.

Dishes are done so think I'll go clean between the front seats of the car. Dh said he'd like to vacuum the car -though it keeps drizzling out there. Then I'll come in and do my round robins. Dh plans to finish the driveway spruce and plant some flowers. Bought some flats of wave petunias for the berm Friday. We used to put just those in all the levels and it looked really good, but oh so expensive. A couple of years ago we put in a lot of perennial plants/bushes. But there's a couple we really don't like so he'll pull them out and put these in their place this year for some color. They were actually on sale at half price so that was nice.

Yup, two. A church in the rich village, so great sound system and then my seniors in the afternoon.

Dh arrived just as I started to write my last post and we drove my music friend home and are now having lunch at a burger shack that was recommended.

RIP James Garner. You were loved by so many. I am from the Bret and Bart Maverick era and could hardly wait for each week's new episode. I liked Bret the best. In later years I met twin brothers - lived next door to mil in San Jose and they were Bret and Bart.

I have completed my "chores", actually Mr. Guy's chores but he is still recuperating the knee so it is up to me. Went to the dumpster with a load of garbage and boxes, came back and watered all the shrubs in the front of the house and the tree by the patio in back. Now is my little bit of rest time before I attack the kitchen floor. All the time I was watering and visiting with my walking neighbor Mr. Guy was on the phone with Sweetie. He is surviving RR's being away. The other day he sent a picture of a beautiful little squirrel in their back yard. He calls him "Willis's friend". Hmmmmm!

DD in San Jose is going to fly up the middle of August and then we will take her home and spend 3 days as we usually do in the Summer. In October we will go to Monterey for a couple of days and then back to San Jose for 3 days. This will be our last visit with the great grandkids until April. This makes me really sad that we can't see them - like everyday! Mr. Guy says he will never live in California again though. This is about as close as we can get as we are on the border of the two states.

The Celebrity Golf Classic is going on at Lake Tahoe. I faithfully watch (the only golf I watch) every year. My faves are Jeremy Roenick (retired hockey star and played in San Jose several years) and Jack Wagner. Jack has won twice in the 20+ years and when they finished yesterday Jeremy was leading. We will see at noon when it comes on TV if he is still in the lead or very close. Hope Hope Hope! Years ago after Mr. Guy retired he worked for one of his former customers in the bread business at a Winner's Corner gas and grocery store for a year. One day a big limo pulls up to fill up and a guy comes in for a six pack and whatever. (He was on his way to the Lake for the Celebrity.) When he brought his purchases to the counter, Mr. Guy said "I know you. You are my wife's favorite soap opera star"! It was Jack Wagner who had played Frisco Jones forever on General Hospital. He said he was Jack Wagner and what was my name. He gave Mr. Guy his autograph for me. I still have it of course and it reads "To Norma, Love Jack Wagner". He said "Tell Norma I will win one for her." And.... he ended up winning 2 in later years. I love him!

Hello to FF, Dee, Kathryn and all! Thanks for starting our Smiling Sunday FF. I also liked James Garner. We always watched all the shows he was in.

Sundays are pretty relaxed for dh and me. We usually watch our church service online early then take care of daily routines. I try to take a few minutes to set our calendar for the week to see what's coming. Dh has a dr. appointment on Thurs., so if there are any other errands or shopping that will be the day for that. I also need to spend some time at my desk today and I want to move pictures from our vacation to the computer. Don't know if dfam#2 will be here this afternoon yet, but we're planning for it anyway.

Dee, hoping for good weather for your trip to Lancaster. That was always a favorite area of mine; also Gettysburg where my daunt/duncle farmed. Their property was right next to Eisenhower's farm. Good luck with your search for a new car!
Kathryn, glad you had a good service this morning. Hope you are feeling better.
Norma, that is a neat story about Jack Wagner.
