Good morning, villagers ~
My peanut butter jar is empty, so I am forced to put Nutella on my English muffin.
Hardship! (TOTALLY NOT!)
<snort>

skipping away with my coffee and yummy breakfast ...

LOL, Bookie! I was waiting for inspiration to strike so some one else could start the thread!
Today is kind of a start over Monday. I feel like I'm still in recovery from the extreme company last week. I am nodding along with Harriet who said:
Wish I could just put social stuff into some box in my brain which I could enjoy but not feel so affected by afterward.
Today dMacs has PT at 11, then I have body work at 1:30.
I've had trouble getting to sleep the last two nights, probably because I slept in so late Saturday and yesterday. I was up around 5:15 when dh got up this morning and went back to bed until 7. No naps today for better sleep tonight!

My Monday hardship was not getting out of bed until 9 a.m. (NOT a hardship!)
I guess yesterday took too much out of me, even though I didn't exercise at all and only walked 4200 steps.
I'm not sore at the moment so am hesitant to bike since I know I'll be sore after. On the other hand, for each bit of soreness that comes from the biking, and proper pain in the evenings, comes better mornings and more flexibility. Yesterday, at one point, I had to walk quickly. And could. (That is new, I've been lumbering along for a long time, barely strolling.) As well, I'm finding getting in and out of the car less traumatic. I can now mount and dismount the bike properly. So lots of progress.
I'm having my tea and chocolate now. Will need to go shopping later today (almost out of chocolate) so will bike for a bit and then go to the store on my way home. I'm still tickled pink about how much I like the little grocery store nearby. The parking lot is always busy and now I know why. It isn't people who have too much money to care about good prices, it is people who like a better shopping experience. It really felt like a neighbourhood store with character as opposed to the soul-less store we've been using.
On the other hand, soul-less is closer, and price matches so when I have the strength to walk miles within the store, it is the better choice. As well, it has a premium store-brand that offers dozens of products that I choose over national brands for quality vs price and some things that I can't get anywhere else. But it doesn't have kosher Coke (forgot to check at the little store) and the little store did have ds's stir fry sauce so I picked up a bottle. The little store is open 24 hours a day but the big one is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. so really there's no difference to me except when coming home from a late flight.
I suppose all this analysis just goes to show I'm blessed with two great stores within walking distance and another discount store on my bus route or only a 5 minute drive away (and we drive past almost every time we are out with the car) that offers great prices on staples.
Don't know what I'll do today. I know paperwork is what I should be doing. And getting back into my regular SHE system. I've opened up the calendar a couple of times and made a few tweaks to it to reflect the new place but that's it. Bathrooms need cleaning and at that point I will have finished the weekly house-blessing.

No hardships here either. Made myself stay awake from late afternoon to bed time. Also took thedog for a walk just before dark so slept well last night.
Nice andcool this morningso had a great walk with DH and dog. Nowdrinking iced chai teaa and ssurfing on my kindle.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do today either, KIC, probably a lotof nothing. I do need to wash some dishes and i think the laundry tub is full.
But right now I'm going to watch the baby quail scurry accross my yard to the bird feeder and listen to the birds. Ah! Retirement is great!!!!!!!
Edited to say --- sorry about the run on words --- guess my fat fingers haven't been hitting the tiny spacebar hard enough.

Thought provoking title as now waiting for a few minutes until the programming interruption newsfeed about crisis in Ukraine. Supposing most of our channels here will cover that, not sure.
helia, your dh's family and their community(ies) have been on my mind since first learning most passengers on that plane were from The Netherlands.

Good Morning!
I rolled out of bed at normal time and immediately started on my chosen tasks. It felt great to finish the first 3 hours of my day following my scheduled cards. Since then I wrote & printed the elder meeting minutes for this month, updated church FB group with pics from yesterday & upcoming events. I also put together a little booklet with MPB information to show appraiser and/or prospective buyers.
Next up -
** Lunch prep
** MPB dailies
** log at least 10 incoming papers

Good Morning, Ladies!
No hardships here. DH, Dgs-24 and DH's dbuddy, are getting firewood until 1 p.m. Wednesday is a day of rain/T-storms, so might not get wood that day. But Friday will be nice and will be their last day of getting firewood in for 3 men!
I'm working on Dgd's Granny squares today. Won't do LOL until after Dgs-14 showers and to see if there's enough for a load or not.
The house is pretty picked up, tidy, etc... toilets are still clean, so don't really have that much to do. Want to concentrate on crochet today, might re-do my little combination SHE-Control Folder Journal. The pages are index cards, 4 x 6". I don't know when I'll do this, yet, or if it'll be today or not.
The E. WA State fires are having only 3 - 5 m. p. h. winds with high humidity, which is good for them today. I hope Nancy's able to get her news via the Internet from the Seattle TV Stations' news sites I gave her last night, to "Google".
Been sleeping real well, exercise/activity during the day helps me fall asleep quickly, plus I can hear my new Quartz watch ticking, on the dresser, across the room, which is sort of hypnotizing me to sleep faster.
Have a great day, LadyMaverick, Harriet, MT, Kathrun, Twins' Mom, Booksaver, and Helia, and Dee.

So I guess I took the title as a sort of "count your blessings" one.
Did get the family called to the tv to see that. I like for dd to watch any special report and keep up.
We are experiencing an oddly dark and stormy day. We are under a flood watch - no, warning - until 1:00. Noon looked like dusk here. Did get new feed out to chickens. Otherwise, this is a hole-up-in-the-house day.
Elizabeth, I was amused at your "Miss" comment last evening and I get your point. This is actually the matriarch of that side of the family. Her mental sharpness is pretty much unquestioned, or I would wonder about that. But this has been a constant refrain from her for decades anyway. She has now moved down to great-grandchildren and yesterday announced the favorites - I kid you not. This time just 2 of dfirstsil's 6 grandchildren. This was said in front of all dd's sons, who might have been "in the running" I guess. The conversation of course went over the boys' heads but adults around were quite uncomfortable. Just these 4 descendants, she insists (with dd trying to mitigate and saying, "oh you don't mean that" to no avail), move ahead of even her 2 living children, in her estimation. Poor dfirstbil, not one member of his 9-person family so favored.

Those done.
For lunch side dish I made my version of
Low Carb *rice*. I made it more a Mexican rice by leaving out the soy & egg, then doubling the cauliflower and adding a can of rotel. It taste wonderful! IMHO
DBro has been here to check cattle...
.DBro earned the onery critter award today by encouraging LO to tell me to bake cookies. DH stopped by to drop off some paperwork and pick more up. He is doing several financial tasks for the church this morning.
Next up -
** 3 minute general tidy/sweep/dust living room
** order butterflies for LO
** weed-eat

Hello all! Dh and I are currently at his sister's home in Utrecht and we have good internet access! Dh always has his own internet access, but I'm dependent on the local system or lack of one.
thank you for your thoughts for the Dutch on that Malaysian flight that was shot down, Harriet and others. Yes, I read that the majority of the passengers were Dutch citizens, many families likely en route to their summer holidays. So sad. I also heard a well-known Dutch professor and some of his students were heading to Australia (?) for a big conference on AIDS. There was also a family from Australia sending their 3 children home ahead of them so they could get back to school while the parents had another week of vacation in NL. . . The parallels of that family to our situation is a bit unsettling as at this moment our 3 children are on one plane crossing the Atlantic, further unsettling b/c security has been heightened on all flights to the USA due to intelligence of possible terrorist targets. I don't know if that is in all the western countries, all of Europe, or just the Netherlands. Have any of you heard of this? Here, all electronic devices must be turned on to show the security guards they are truly electronic devices and not bombs in disguise. Again, only on flights heading to the USA. . . . I am being OCD and am tracking my kids' flight online.
Anyhow, the party yesterday was really nice! I like dh's family a lot. Whenever I get together with them, I feel sad that we live so far away. They are a large family too. There are 6 siblings, including dh, 6 in-laws, including me
, 16 grandchildren ages 4 - 25.5 (none married but one serious boyfriend) - and one more due to make her appearance in late September. The party included tea and cakes together, a couple speeches, a quiz on "Who knows Opa best," a slide show, a couple gifts, a long speech from dfil, a nice meal together. Lots of talking and catching up with various families. We all stayed overnight at the hotel/conference center and also had breakfast together.
We arrived in the NL on Friday and stayed in the family's summer house Friday - Sunday. One of dh's sisters and family (from the UK) arrived Saturday evening and stayed with us. We all went out for Dutch pancakes that evening! Dutch pancakes are a savory type of food, kind of like a huge crepe which can have cheese, ham bacon, etc. in them.
We are now staying in another dsil's home as they are staying in the summer house this week to attend a Christian conference nearby. The summer house is not huge, maybe 800 sf, though the property is immense, and dh's family generates a lot of social energy together, so we opted to stay here in a quieter more spacious place instead. we are helping to take care of dsil's cat and mail, etc. We will go back to the summer house tomorrow as the Christian conference is on break that afternoon and dsil and dbil will be around. Also, another dsil and family is at the conference and will be there too. . . So, we will be a group of 14, well really 14.5.
The dsil who owns this house is the one expecting. Her first baby. At age 38, 39 in 2 months. She just got married 2 years ago!
Weather has become more typically Dutch, cooler and drizzly and gray. Dh and I donned raincoats and rode bikes to the nearby groc. store, the Dutch way of doing things. We loaded up the bike saddle bags with our groceries. We even bought a small watermelon!
Well, dh is cooking dinner now and I should be helping him. . . .
LOL at bookie!! Darn. . .
LadyM, I hope LO is feeling better. I now remember the strict instructions the pedi gave me for newborn ds: Leave it alone. LOL! I wasn't to do anything, so really no special care required after all.
It is nice to read of the regular activities of your lives here.
