Friday Flying

I'll be flying today, trying to get the apartment ready for ds's birthday dinner tonight.

He let me know at 11:15 last night that there will be 8, or perhaps 11 (including 2 year old twins) for dinner.

I wouldn't have known until the morning but my cell phone signalling the incoming message disturbed dh and he asked that I get up, find my phone, and turn it off. i checked messages at the same time.

So I need to:

1) shop for food
2) clean the apartment
3) bake brownies for dh's birthday 'cake'
4) set the table
5) set the music for Sunday's service (I can always write a sermon tomorrow!)

How will you be flying today?

(((Kathryn)))prayers for you. Hope you can pace yourself. Remember - they are coming to help celebrate, not on house inspection. Though I guess a certain about of child proofing may be necessary.
Quietly - if it was me - I'd be irritated I think.

Today. Stuck in the dumps Friday here. I did finally manage to get the washing onto the line, and walk dog.

Noticed a new message from Feline Friend. All her birthdates, etc are still listed under "Ivy". I also thought of Lady M -are there any others that I haven't noticed? Oh, probably Ramblin Rose -have to look. Hadn't even thought of that aspect of some of our changes.

Kathryn, do take care of yourself today. 8-11 for dinner & finding out after 11PM? :o  -that would be ME! Keep it simple and I'm sure you are. Hope you're feeling better enough today to get through the day.

Seems very much like Saturday to me since I didn't have to go over to stay with dgs9. I awoke at 6 -which was pretty good after being awake last night quite a bit. Awoke when I heard dh in the kitchen and immediately my bladder told me it was time to get up -quick. Only by that time dh was in the bathroom. :| Wasn't sure I'd make it till he was done, but did. Whew!

It was 63 in here and I turned the heat on. When it got to about 67-68 I heard the furnace keep on trying to ignite. So something tells me we're out of propane. Dh will check it later. Meantime I turned on the electric fireplace. It's struggling to get the temp up -at least it feels that way.

I'm s2s and have had meds. Now for coffee & breakfast.

I'm also flying here. Dh wants to leave perhaps around 10 a.m. In between now and then I need to s2s, straighten for dcleaning lady, walk ddogs, pack and modify dog instructions for dd, who will be dog sitting and a few other things. He's gone to Rotary club meeting and will be home after.

Just answered an email and got it off my mind.

The kitchen, Gr room and front of house are good. I need to finish with MBR/bath and kitchen table behind the desk. Never got to kitchen table last night....

Flying back off, waving to Dee, Lynlee and Kathryn as I go....

Yes, I am quietly annoyed. Had he let me know yesterday, I would have been to the butcher on the way home from the house. Now I have to drive to a butcher shop (interestingly, there is nothing in this area at all, despite supposedly being a foodie area.)

I did start the housework yesterday and so today is dusting, some tidying, and vacuuming. The floors will wait and the bathrooms were clean when we left and we've only been home a few days so a quick swish is all they need.

Dinner is a roast beef. That's the meal of choice for birthdays in this household. And as much as beef is today, I'll keep reminding myself that it is less expensive than going out. And, it is a meal I can almost make with my eyes closed. Can't make the brownies with my eyes closed but they are reasonable quick (it is the second time I'm making them) and there are two resting periods in there so I can multi-task during that time.

A sermon just 'poured' out of me while I was having my tea. Funny how that happens. It will need some additional quote of scripture added to it, but basically it is done. Music still needs to be chosen.

As I was writing, I looked out the window and saw a hot air balloon, then another and another. This weekend is the Hot Air Balloon festival and it was a mass launch. Twenty-five in total so I was out on the balcony taking pictures. Then I swept the cobwebs from the balconies and arranged the chairs. There are too many of us to eat out there tonight. (Unless I get ds to bring the card table from the house.....hmmmmm.) There will be more mass launches this evening so it would be nice to be out on the balcony.

I'm done my breakfast so time to s2s and get moving more.

As for health, slight chest congestion and slight sore throat. No digestive pain from breakfast (yay - it might have been my pancreas complaining about my food choices on Wednesday) and I have a ton of energy for some reason (probably adrenaline from panic!)

Well, I will literally by flying today. This is my last trip (of 6?) this summer. I'm flying to NYC to meet up with 2 friends from our Austin, TX small group. One friend was quite overweight and has worked hard and lost 42 pounds, and this trip with us is the reward she held out for herself as motivation. BUT before I leave at 12:45, I've got tons to do.

((Kathryn))

I've been up for a while:

Done:
- printed out trip schedule
- tea
- let ddogs out
- fed g. pigs
- prepped to tutor R
- tidied play room since R is coming here with her ds4
- helped dh put Purple Heart donations at the curb with a purple sign

Next:
- as much of the a.m .routine as possible
- fold lol
- leave at 9 - if possible for WW (b/c of construction, I'm taking a long way to get there)
- gas van
- WW 9:30 - 9:50 (leave early)
- tutor R here 10:15 - 11:15
- pack
- email moms group skit people
- lunch
- leave at 12:45
- fly
- meet up with dfriends and enjoy them and NYC! :)

I'm off to s2s and do self care.

My dh would ask if I had my "broom" ready for Flying Friday.

I've gone through the listing for special dates and changed names as I noticed them. If there are others I've missed or you'd like added -just send me a PM and I'll do it ASAP.

Off to do dishes. May feel like Saturday, but I do feel like getting 'at it' today and I'll be 'flying' through here, catching up. Just didn't seem able to get much done while dgs was here. Of course I have a smaller space than when I would have 5 dks (and others) around. Managed to keep up then -or at least somewhat! :?

I'm trying so hard to organize things that need to be done. I realized yesterday that it's only probably about 6 weeks before I leave for the southland. Now if I were going on a 6-week vacation that would seem like a lot and I'm sure I wouldn't be packing to return home till it was nearly over. Of course I have to figure what to take and what needs to be left for dh. AND make it easy for him to pack up what he needs -I'm hoping that's 'little'. Trying to take things to leave in FL and still leave some here. I'll see how I make out. Part of our deck is quite hidden from the street and back out of the elements so I think I can 'stage' out there, pretty well. May have dh bring the other suitcases down from the storage unit and start filling them from biggest to smallest. I'm also having to keep in mind that I have much less packing room in our car than the van. Dh will be driving a truck and can bring some stuff. For instance a friend from church insisted I bring her walker home with me in case I needed it. Not once. :? I did use it at Disney when I went those few days with DS-A's family & DD. Helped me a lot at that point. Had been taking my cane up to then. Not sure what I'll do when I return, but dh will take the walker in the truck. My knees do seem better. I notice I can put a little weight on my right when going up steps now, but still need a hand rail.

Now to see what's up with dh's knee(s). Reminds me, I'm supposed to call each day to see if there's an earlier cancellation (their advice). Dh has an appointment on Sept. 19th, but she urged me to call each day and I've forgotten until too late in the day. :?

Almost think that dh and I will go to W Greens to get our flu shots. That way he won't have to travel 50 miles to his Dr only for the shot and I won't have to think about scheduling mine. They'll both be forwarded to our doctors. And the offices were the ones who suggested going there in the first place. So one day next month, think we'll just stop by and get that off our to-do l&&t.

Happy (real) flying, Helia! :D

Been 'wadding' papers from DS-A's bin from 2005-2006. Saving what I consider very important papers from his payroll company & tax papers. Let him get rid of them if they so desire. Have a trash bag full to go try to burn. Not sure how they'll fit into the chimneyrea. Perhaps our dneighbor will let me just burn them in her fire pit -it has a mesh cover and I'm concerned about papers floating about 1/2 burned. If she will, I can probably get them done in 1 fell swoop.

I've s2s and tidied the bedroom. It is ready to vacuum and dust. By then, the load of fine washables will be ready to hang up in there.

First load of laundry is in the dryer, second is in the washer.

I have ironing to do and that will get rid of the items hanging in the spare bathroom.

Dd will be coming tonight. So at this point, I'm confirmed for 8. Still waiting to hear from ds as to time and numbers.

Edited to add: Just found out it will 7:30 so too late to eat outside. And the twins and their mom probably won't come because it is way past their bedtime even if they ate before hand.

Morning ya'll...

My gut is feeling a bit better, but not 100 0/0 yet. Ate some yogurt for breakfast and will continue to eat light today. I have to gather myself together and then head out to shop for a bathing suit. Ugh

Been making lists for my up coming trip on my iphone. Found a cool grocery list app a while back and am loving it. We will be passing a w mart on our way to the beach and will stop and stock up there before we get to the condo. We usually eat out for dinner, but need stuff for breakfast, lunch and on the beach snacks. I love staying in condos because it makes the vacation some much more relaxing. The condo is equipped with every thing I need including a washer and dryer complete with detergent and fabric softener. It makes life easy. This condo also has beach chairs,an umbrella, cooler and even bikes to ride.

My house is clean, my laundry is done and I have food in the fridge... Life is good ;)
