Finally! I'm able to get on the internet. Not sure what's going on with that in the last couple of days. Oh well, in about 6 weeks I can have it turned off for 6 months. Not sure what I will do next year. TW internet is growing ever more expensive.

Wishing LO well this week, LadyM. That does sound like quite the wedding!

Had a shower for our pastor yesterday at a nearby Bed & Breakfast (owned by 2 of our members). The whole thing was absolutely wonderful. Don't think there's a soul in our congregation unhappy about this union. Pastor is 51 and the groom is from our congregation and a few years older. They make a very sweet couple. Groom is a widower of about 20 years or so. She's from TX and her family is flying in for the weekend and staying at the Inn.

Next week is our final Sunday in our church -then we move down the road about a mile to 'borrow' the facilities at another church for 3-4 months. The entire roof and sanctuary ceiling are being removed from ours. Which means EVERYTHING has to be removed from the sanctuary starting next Sunday through the following week. Construction begins Sept 28th. What started out as a $100,000 project is now over $200,000 but nobody's the least bit worried. We probably will only spend 1 Sunday at the other church (Sept 28th). Because after that, we have other commitments (On Sunday? ). We'll see how it goes. Actually the inn from yesterday is probably a block away and they've also offered their drive (about 20 vehicles) for those who don't mind the walk.

One of our members had a stroke last Mon and passed away Thursday. Personally I just feel she really wanted to be able to have her last goodbyes in that ol' church. Did see her daughter at the shower and was able to offer condolences there. I won't be able to go to calling hours tonight (we have solid prior commitment) and can't make the service tomorrow as our niece and xdsisil will be coming. And having not seen either of them in 30-40 years I guess that has to take precedence at this point. They'll only be here tomorrow.

It's so cold here too, Kathryn. I'm getting pretty concerned as my shoulder (had a complete shoulder replacement 19 years ago) is probably bothering me worse than it ever has. Has brought me to tears and lots of 'em in the past few days. It just locks like one gigantic cramp and I can't move. I will keep an eye on it and see what happens in the next few weeks, but I may be forced to go see the Dr. by spring if this continues. Hate to do that now as there's so little time before I have to leave. I do know I need to get away from this climate though.

We're spending a fortune on propane right now.

Wish I knew for sure if dniece & dxsisil are staying here tomorrow night. Makes a big difference in laundry and sleeping arrangements. Hopefully she'll call today and give us further info. She was a bit aghast when I told her how long a trip it will be from where they are. But she did say that they expect to be somewhere near Watertown tonight and that's not such a long trip from there, but still at least 3 1/2 hours (If I remember correctly). Know they're leaving on a cruise (not sure from or to where) next Sunday.

Have to leave in about 45 minutes for church. Go back to our regular time of 10:55 this morning.

At the shower yesterday, I had decided to eat my lunch at 1 of the tables offered. Fine, but we had to step down a pretty high step -in the process I jammed my right 'ring' finger on the door frame. I now have it in a splint & can't do anything with it. Like typing or tying my shoes. Doing a lot of pecking on here. AND I also realized I need to shop for something to wear to the wedding on Saturday. The outfit I wore yesterday is just a tad too tight and quite uncomfortable. Hoping perhaps to get a long skirt. Need to start that quest by Tues. Oh I need to lose this weight or some of it at least. Doubt that can happen in a week.

And.....need to get moving here but enjoying sitting down at the computer too much.

On Friday night dh and I went out to a movie - he thought we were going to a different movie but we saw If I Stay - mostly a teen movie IMHO.

Yesterday, I got dMacs to PT at 9 a.m. (early this week) then dh and I had late lunch w friends at a local restaurant, followed by a trip to Costco. We ordered pizza last night and watched college football - probably part of the same game that LM is referring to?

Today is kind of mixed up. Dh needs to mow the yard, but right now has gone to the market, to get a haircut, and will buy a side dish of some kind while he's out. We were just invited to the pool later - a neighbor is cooking a large amount of snapper and has invited all who want to come up to eat and visit.

We're having cooler weather - only 66 degrees right now and much nicer for walking ddogs in the a.m. We may try out the firepit for the first time tonight.

I need some time today to get some things done and plan for the week.

Dee, glad your internet issues are better and you're back online.

(((Dee))), I hope your shoulder isn't turning into "frozen shoulder," like I had once. I hope you find your long skirt, too, and the lead-in us a good one.

It's sunny here, will be in the 80's. I worked on the start of what was to be a Dec. story, but changed the title and will shoot for a Jan. story instead. I forgot to put my byline beneath the title on my ms I'm sending to Woman's World. It's all sealed up now. They'll figure it out. I have my name/address on the title page and my last name's on all the following page headers. I get so used to not putting my name there, because the confession market doesn't use bylines, unless it's a non-fiction piece. Oh, well. I hope this won't disqualify my story.

I picked grapes and got them washed & ready for the freezer this a.m.

I got an 800-word short story rejected by another magazine. Today, I edited it, added to it, making it 3,519 words, and sent it off after a proofread. It's my 6th December story. Now I'm tired of SNOW and CHRISTMAS GIFTS stories! Next on the list are New Year's stories and Valentines stories. ♥ I'm ready to move onto something new, like new starts and love.

It's still sunny here. I re-printed my Dr. list for the 3rd time. This time I'm not changing it again. We are only allowed 3 things to bring up, by my insurance company. I wrote a 3-point outline, double-spaced in capitals and 8-point font, so it's still easy to read. DH has gone over every list with me and he finally said this one should do it and he agrees, I need not make any additional lists. I'm shaved, nails are clipped, clothes are out, the purse has been cleaned and lightened up, there's reading in my purse, in a miniature quote/poetry book. All I need to do now is work on my day planner to take with my file folder stuck into the pages. It's supposed to rain that day, to the file folder will keep the med list and Dr. appt. lists dry. This is my yearly exam. I don't look forward to them, but they're a must. Oddly, the insurance co. wants Dr. to do lab orders AFTER the yearly exam, for some reason. I suppose if questions rise during the appt., he can order lab work once, rather than 1 time prior to the appt. and 1 time after. Also, Dr. Oz's show said something about Mercury being in vaccines, which include flu vaccines, but a law was passed, I think, for them to remove mercury from vaccines. He said to ask if the flu vaccine has mercury in it and to request one without because they send both types. I never knew that. I hope I remember. If they have none without mercury, I'll take the injection anyway because the risk of flu with asthma, FM, and a compromised immune system isn't good.

I'm exhausted.

We headed off, in a rush as always, for church. Didn't have to leave until 9:45 (compared to 8:45 last week) and still I ran out of time and my bedroom looks like the closet and drawers burped items all over the bed and floor!

Got there early enough to work on Sunday school but got delayed by a pastoral care moment. Just 4 weeks ago a church 'uncle' was here and chatting with the kids, just fine. And now he's in our mental hospital, thinking he's planning a party for the whole world (and the staff at the hospital are all helping him plan.) His wife told us everything. I reminded her that we live just 5 minutes from the hospital and if she even needs a place to fill in time between visits, she's welcome to drop in. I offered prayers but she wants to muddle through on her own. This is why on must always ask if someone wants prayers. The answer isn't always what you'd expect.

Thankfully, I didn't have much to do for Sunday School and there were a manageable number of kids despite it being first Sunday of program and a baptism. All the children of the family with the baptism were too little for class so played in the play area.

We stayed too long at coffee hour so had a rush to drop off ds's clothes at the house (he was up and waiting for them) and then only 10 minutes to eat lunch. We managed.

The afternoon service was a cemetery memorial service and dh and I were part of the choir. I also read the scripture (and did so well that the church was completely quiet - that's never happened to me before.)

Service was quick and then another coffee hour. Ds was sleeping at the house so we didn't bother going back, instead coming into the city to get a headlight bulb for the car, then, since it was 4:45, decided to have an early dinner of fish and chips at a place that was highly recommended. The recommendation was spot on and it was worth 'cheating' on my eating plan. We also picked up a few groceries. We ate at home, so we could have milk and I'll add a salad later in the evening since I'm a bit short of veggies today.

I'm exhausted and dreaming of bed but not sure if I might get a burst of energy from my dinner when I actually stand up and start moving. At the very least, I have to tidy the bedroom and do a load of laundry.

What a quiet day in the village.

Dh and I went up to the pool for the fish cookout - a neighbor had been to FL fishing in the gulf and brought home a lot of snapper to share. He grilled it out at the pool and neighbors brought sides - dh picked up macaroni salad (not a favorite of mine) but there was also a green salad, twice baked potatoes, rice and a dessert. Also had a TV set up to watch football games. There's a neighborhood fantasy football league going so that kept them all checking scores and player stats. I took a nap when I got back - was stuffed and it seemed like the thing to do. I've been fighting a headache all day....going to take some ibuprofen next.

I need to do some things to make the week easier...
-kitchen clean up
-reboot laundry and fold sheets from dryer
-start Li%t for tomorrow and this week
-clear the kitchen table (stuff from Costco run yesterday still there...)
-walk the dogs

Fairly successful Sunday here, I'd say!

Oh -- but first -- sooo glad to have you back, Dee!!! (((HUGS))) -- so sorry about your jammed finger. And boy, do IKWYM about the weight issues. I had somehow lost 4 pounds over the week when I got on the scales yesterday morning. Went to that dratted birthday party last night and 2 pounds are right back.

We went to church -- and it was ALL I could do to stay awake, but I'm glad I went -- and I do remember the sermon, LOL -- so I know I didn't sleep through it all. (He will make a way where there seems to be no way, was basically the sermon, about Moses and the Israelites crossing the Red Sea. Very good topic for me at the moment.)

Home, newspapers, naps... but now I've got all my Sunday chores done -- clean clothes put away, vitamins/meds laid out for the week, plants watered, allergy shots taken, etc. etc.
DH says we will go to Wmart tonight b/c (1) there are no good movies out that we want to see anyway, and (2) my dmom may need me to follow her to the body shop to drop off her SUV tomorrow.

DS called and said they are on their way home -- probably have just about arrived by now.
