Monday Moving

Good morning. It's the first Monday of a new month! Time to get moving.
If we look at the calendar, most of you have Thanksgiving coming up and December holidays loom in the future. Plus that 'end of year' deadline if you set 2014 goals for yourselves.
There's still almost 1/6th of the year left. What can you start/continue/complete today that will help you feel that 2014 was a good year?

My week's distractions from work around here:
Monday: class tonight
Tuesday: 10:45 Financial guy coming so I have to get the apartment show ready and it would be a good idea to go over a year's worth of statements and at least know where we stand.
Wednesday: afternoon meeting downtown at the church where the 'festival' will be.
Thursday: Nothing outside the apartment!
Friday: From the afternoon onwards I've got the festival - setup and then concert in the evening.
Saturday: Workshops all day, concert in the evening.
Sunday: off chasing after the Moderator in order to hear him speak (since I won't be able to attend his workshop on Saturday and may be busy through the worship.)
That's depressing (given my tummy is already acting up, today.)
My toast is in me. Green tea doesn't settle my tummy (black sometimes does but I can't have it in the morning because I put milk in it.) I still have to work my way through the berries. If I can get that done by 8:15, I'll be able to take my pill at 10:15 and that means lunch between 12:30 and 1.
Haven't decided if I'm swimming but since I still have at least 10 minutes more of eating, I can't see making it into the pool by 8:30. So I'll give up on that today. Maybe Wednesday.

Just cuop from yesterday. We'll celebrate with you, Kathryn, next Monday. Hope you then have no further need for medication!!!
Guess I never posted yesterday other than starting the November Joys & Concerns thread. Did a lot of dozing -after a not so good night Saturday. Slept pretty well and was up nice & early today -but it was probably my usual time, not unlike Lady M. But maybe I can start getting up earlier.
Dh is doing the dishes from yesterday and I'm trying to get some odds 'n ends done. Have a lol in the dryer twin and have to fold that shortly. Had an email from our church's Trustee chair I had to deal with. She'd forgotten to recontact ds-A about the church plowing. Since it's under construction the plowing will be a bit different until we're back there for worship each week. But it will have to be plowed for the construction crew no doubt and the driveway on the office side will be used almost daily and that has been enlarged by putting down stone. That also presents a different problem. All the drives have been paved heretofore.
Going to go spend my 10 minutes in the office. Will eventually have that up to snuff -though it's a WHOLE lot better than when I got here.
Dh got here late Saturday afternoon. Announced that was the last time he'll try to make it with only one layover. He's been exhausted. Of course he was already 'there' by the time he left NY. The last week or 2 at the campground is really intense. They finished blowing out the water lines about 2pm on Thursday. He left ds-A's about 4:10 Friday morning. He knew part of the way he was too tired to be driving.

At least dh is here safe and everybody else who was around him.
The health care info I have been waiting for in the mail (we only have from today through November 14th to enroll -not the Dec. 7th that everyone keeps telling me I have. I knew better. But lo' and behold when I went to dh's company benefits today all the info's there so maybe, just maybe I can decipher it. But my thought is, it's going to be real tough. Our medicare advantage program has gone 'away'. We can get BC/BS with it but it will be considerably more. I'm really confused and hope to find somebody who can walk me through it. Have a gal from the campground who said she'd help me but she's now in Myrtle Beach. Will work on it later today.
We're headed for dbil/dsisil's soon. Dh has a bunch of stuff to load in the car to take over.

I've done nothing on my to-do list although I did clear out another 40 emails (I have a standing "clear out 50 emails" task on my to-do list now until I'm down to under 50.)
I also printed off the schedule for the workshops and the individual workshop descriptions. They are available online but I wanted paper. I'm hoping that when I show this to the organizers on Wednesday, they'll come up with a version that can be printed off the website. No-one has to preselect workshops so I'm guessing there will be a lot of people trying to make up their minds at the last minute.
I need to s2s and strip and remake the bed now. Then I'll be able to cross a few more items off my to-do list.
I also have to figure out how I'm going to get 10K steps today. I get 4.5K for my walk to school but I'll need either to spend time on the treadmill while I work today or to go run an errand or go for a stroll at some point or else I won't get enough. Already, I've dropped to 54th (my goal is to be around 50th by the end of the month.)

Nice to see you blessed!
You do sound like you have a busy week, Kathryn.
Glad dh is with you now, Dee. Insurance can be confusing. I'm so glad I haven't had to venture into that world yet. We have great coverage and nothing has changed.
From Monday morning here, I believe I am looking at. .. . a normal week!
I almost don't want to type that for fear I might jinx myself. No houseguests. No extra meetings. I'm not teaching at the moms group or SS at church. No haircut, dental, Dr., or other sorts of appointments. I only need to put together one quiz for work, and this will be a smaller one. No small group on Saturday. No evening commiments. I may meet with my mentee on Saturday, that's the only thing. Ah, this feels glorious!! Teaching 17 hours + prep + grading time and moms group meeting and background work is enough
Last week was a bit much with dniece here until Tuesday (we loved having her, don't get me wrong - having a guest always takes more time), extra meetings that added more than 7 hours to my week, a haircut appt., putting together 2 quizzes for my classes, and then preparing to teach SS on Sunday - on top of payroll and moms group stuff. There always seems to be some last minute snafu with moms group that involves me by Tuesday and Wednesday.
Yesterday's SS class went fine, though we started 10 minutes late due to technical difficulties with the mic. This meant that I was constantly keeping an eye on the clock, and I purposefully dropped several pertinent points as I went. People chimed in pretty well, not as well as with the moms group, but this was a mixed group. There were only 24 in attendance, not including myself. I was very grateful not to have a huge crowd! It sounded like the small group questions and discussions went well. That is an important aspect of the class.
I have already been moving today! I jogged for 30 minutes, the first time in about 2 weeks. My toe was fine. It is still bruised and sore if I move it a certain way, but walking and jogging don't aggravate it anymore. My menu plan for the week is done. My groc. list will be done once I look up one more recipe.
Next:
- s2s
- groc. store
- work on a.m. routine
- grade paragraphs from quiz last week; post quiz grades
- prep for class today.
- lunch at some point
- leave for work around 12:50, ideally

We filled on our ballots mail in county here so those are ready. I got a couple of sample ballots at the court house and that helped to use that. U.S. folks don't forget to vote!
I am thinking I want to order an unbrella swift this week that is what I wanted for Christmas.

the swift is on sale! Happy for that.
I have 12" or less to do on the pink prayer shawl hoping to finish it this week. I have some other projects to consider.

saw some lovely lavendar yarn I want to get and maybe used with a cream color not sure for what yet however.
I have a plan for dinner make stew.
next up breakfast then dishes.

Just now catching up from Sat evening...
FFriend, you never know how much trouble photographers went to to make that afghan look nice in the photograph. They may have fussed over it a long time to get each butterfly to appear just a certain way! Don't beat yourself up if you don't care for the look.
Elizabeth, that is such a well-thought-out train plan: the right clothing, carry-ons and a creative project to use the time as well. Good job.
((lucylee and Dakota)) for itches!
______________
About my hair question - posed this at a local "beauty" store. Possibly this slightly lighter color of the same brand of hair color that my colorist (
) used may have different ingredients OR they could have a problem with this one. One encouraging word I received from those ladies is that if I had no results at all (and, unfortunately
I could show them that I didn't) there was no reason to wait and I could go ahead and color with my usual color again soon, since I use a semi-permanent or "rinse".
About song leading - somehow one musician knew the songs, so dd dove right in, getting folders set up by 8:30. We still had a situation, as bass singer told us (with a chip on his shoulder) that pianist AND substitute pianist were on a beach trip TOGETHER.
Anyway, we had our other musicians for early part of service. But they leave the loft for the sermon and don't return. So we ALL realized too late that the ending (prayerful - not usually led by song leaders) song would be acapella. Well, um... ... dd and I were nearest the front of the church, and just started in, figuring nothing ventured, nothing gained, and it was okay.

Hopefully I can break away and read yesterday's PWYC as treats through the day.
Serious housework day.
Well, close enough.

Good morning, villagers ~
I got up to do chores at usual time, but after the weekend's activities I'm tired enough that I am almost ready for a nap. DH is taking a vacation day to, as he put it, "make up for losing Saturday." He is not up yet and will probably sleep until noon.
I've been doing some work in the kitchen which I will document in the Decluttering thread.
Today's goals:
* Bring things from DMIL's house in from the car and find homes for them
* Laundry
* Begin October financial reports for the library group
* Begin October financial reports for the sewing group
* Clear a bunch of junk mail from my Inbox
* Continue decluttering
Ah, DH is up earlier than expected, possibly because we are adjusting to the time change. I'm still going to take a nap though, or I will risk falling asleep at the movie.
Guardians of the Galaxy has finally moved from the first run theater to the "cheap" theater ($4 for 2D movies, $5 for the 3D version), and we've been waiting for it a long time. All the reviews I read of it were positive. It will be nice to sit and relax there for a couple hours, and then go somewhere for supper in The Big City.
