Wishing you all a stunning Saturday! How do you hope your Sat. Is going to be stunning? Coffee is on!
I am up with an in target bs #! Yea!
Fed the hens.
Laundry is going.
I'm thinking of going to the new grocery store that opened in the town across the river here. H may want to go to the sporting goods store near that as well.

Re: Stunning Saturday
Well, a lovely empty Saturday was just too good to be true. My mentee emailed at 11:30 last night about meeting today. I wasn't sure if we were meeting this Saturday or next. SO. . .we are meeting this Saturday - b/c I can. And we might be hosting small group next Saturday.
Now, my PODA includes:
- finish reading the chapter for mentee meeting
- meeting with tutee R 11:30 - 12:30 (we changed the time and locale)
- meet with mentee 1:30 - 3:00 or so. Last time we met for over 2 hours. We need to keep it shorter today.
- quick groc. store run
- exercise?
- phone call to dfriend B who now lives in the Boston area; we arranged to call sometime today to catch up
- catch up on laundry would be good too
- movie with dh and ds tonight? If I've been out and about most of the day, as now looks possible, I may opt to stay home tonight.
Dh has just left for a run. It was raining/sleeting earlier w/ temp of 39*. Dh says it has stopped for good now. Still, I chose not to go b/c of the weather and b/c I have only 1:40 now to finish the chapter, do stuff around the house, s2s, get ready to meet my tutee, etc. I can't spare an hour right now to drive to the park, jog, stretch, drive home again. . .
Off to finish the book chapter and then jump in the shower.

Re: Stunning Saturday
Quiet village. But I am making progress here.
DH and I worked on that broken blind. He figured out a way to keep everything in place so the cord doesn't move over into the jagged place and shred again. I just held the flashlight for that part. Installing it again was a little trickier. But we got it done and the dining room looks way better now. I need to shake out the tablecloth.
I looked at that drug stuff one last time and made some notes. Then I emailed the agent what I think I'm seeing. I sure would like to save $646 a year if I'm reading everything correctly.
I feel like we're spinning our wheels here. We are both working like crazy, and it isn't easy work, especially for DH, and we aren't making any progress, not getting ahead...and at this rate we'll never be able to retire. Health care is one of our most expensive costs and I'm trying to fix that a bit.
Going to cook today, roast that turkey and make a couple sweet potato/apple casserole. We'll be eating good for a few days! And I'll have a couple meals to take to my friend Sandi.

Re: Stunning Saturday
Hi Nancy! Your day is off to a good start
. Thanks for opening the village today.
I'm taking a page from Blessed's book & working on Christmas planning today. I need to bring my Holiday Notebook down from the attic & start filling things in for this year. During a recent shopping trip with a dfriend I bought presents for youngest dniece & dnephew, so I think my shopping for kid gifts is done now. I also have a gift box for dh that I have been filling. He'll be out of the house for several hours so I want to go through that & list what I have.
I'll give dsisinlaw a call about Thanksgiving plans, too. While in the grocery store yesterday I picked up ingredients for pumpkin pie & for dessert for a dinner with friends later this month. I also want to pick a day to take down all the fall decorations -- I like a clean slate for a week or so before putting up the Christmas decorations.
Waving hello to Helia , Harmony, & all who stop by later. Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Re: Stunning Saturday
Turkey is in the roaster outside.
I watered the veggie garden and noticed some green beans so I picked those. There will be more in a couple days.
Giblets, neck is simmering on the stove for gravy.
Took out the compost and started a new container.
Made a phone call and got some employee information.
I'm going out for my walk next.

Re: Stunning Saturday
I'm stunned --
b/c I am s2s, have eaten breakfast, put a load of clothes in the washer, walked to the road, got the paper, sat on the porch swing for a bit, and read my daily Bible reading -- all w/dgs! * And it's only 1:30 pm, LOL!!! Plus, I even managed to get dgs to take his Benadryl. (He was sneezing constantly when he woke up.)
We slept really late, and I am very very thankful for that, b/c I did not sleep well -- without dh in the house, I slept on the couch and left the tv on a long time. Then of course I noticed every sound the house made all night, AND I seem to have a ringing in my ears, which I never notice until I lie down to go to sleep. (It is a high-pitched tone, kinda like a beeeeep.... beep... beeeep... -- like Morse code in my ears! But it never bothers me at all until bedtime. I'm going to try some drops tonight.)
We will be watching ballgames all day, and we have to go to the post office. Right now, he's playing in his room.
I need to call dmom -- didn't talk to her yesterday.
And I need to order some tickets for a play dh wants to go to. Can y'all believe that? It's about a fictional country music duo and it's supposed to be funny, and he wanted to go to it. It's not far away; he saw it written up in one of the papers he reads. So I'll see about that before I get up from the computer.
Here he comes... "na-na!!!" (He wants crackers. Now I need to go make sure he isn't just taking one bite and laying them down in the floor.
)
I'm watching with interest all this insurance stuff, Harmony... I was reading dh's AARP newsletter last night, all this stuff about changes to Medicare, etc... DH will be 65 in two years, and I guess regular insurance drops you then and you have to go on Medicare? Is that how it works? I feel so completely totally ignorant about how all this will work... but I guess when the time comes there will be someone to lead us through it, right? I think it said you could sign up for Medicare at the SS office? It is really overwhelming, though, b/c we've had pretty good insurance all the time we've worked, and I'm afraid it's going to be a totally new world when he turns 65 -- for him, at least. I've got a few more years to go.
Roast turkey sounds delicious, btw!
Hope you get your internet straightened out soon, Nancy!
Sounds like Kathryn is having a great day.
And helia, a busy day -- as usual!!!
Dove, I have not done much towards Christmas, but I have bought two gifts for dgs. I'll have to get busy figuring out what to get others and go shopping before long. Need to take dmom shopping one day, too. It's like the song says, though... our Christmas list gets shorter all the time, which is a sad thing. Over the last three years, we've added dgs, but we've lost my dad and both inlaws, and dsisil. And dfriend at school and I do not exchange gifts anymore, and I don't have to get candy for my newspaper staff.

Re: Stunning Saturday
Nancy , Thanks for the opener up for our Village here! Let's all hope our Saturday, today, WILL be STUNNING!!!!
Kathryn , You just have WAY TOO MUCH FUN ALL THE TIME!!!!
Lucylee , Big WTG, Girl! Good for YOU@ You're really rocking & rolling, and on top of things so great today!
Harmony , Good luck with the insurance 'stuff'!
Helia , Can you PLEASE, bottle up some of your productive energy, and ship it to MY house! I want some, too! You do so MUCH! We love reading your posts! I guess there's hope for me yet?
Dove , It's good you're working on Christmas.
I couldn't get to sleep until 2:30 a.m., my mind wouldn't shut off, due to angst, having iced tea late, but I drank the iced tea, to help flush out sodium, because my ankles were swelled up bad. It never happens to me, like that, so it was uncomfortable and I "thought" drinking diet iced tea would help????? Ha! I had to run to the bathroom ALL night! I slept on and off until 8:30 a.m., woke up feeling "okay", and ready to hit the day! I s2s, shampooed, dressed, ate breakfast, had coffee, and I'm writing a letter. I replied to a Dear Friend's email. She's such a sweet person, so wonderful, understanding, and just an all-round great gal.
Cell's ringing! It's DD. BBL!

Re: Stunning Saturday
OH! Our clouds left, the sunshine is glowing up the yard and world here today, I opened the blinds, and it's so wonderful! Yes! This WILL be a "Stunning Saturday", to me!
I talked-walked on our cell phone, talking to DD and DGS. I walked moderately for 1/2-hour. It was great to get my exercise in, to have good conversations, keep in touch, and it was wonderful! So good to hear from DD, as she's a career woman, is so busy, and when we do talk, it's quality conversations. I love that about her!
I need to see if there's enough dark LOL to run a load, the same goes for pastels/white, too. I need to MT the DW, too, I believe. I did that yesterday morning, we ran it again in the evening, so for 2 empty-nesters- does this mean we're eating too much???
LucyLee , I saw episode 4 of "The Affair" On Demand. Allison cuts herself and hurts herself, because her emotional pain, from losing her little boy to a drowning, is so great, she hurts herself physically, to try to make her emotional self feel better. It's so sad. Noah and her, are well.... Married! Why are they doing this affair? I guess they're both at the places in their lives where they need to reach out to someone else with wild abandon and they're so screwed up! I like Noah's wife, so much, I'm angry he's doing this behind her back, and oh boy, oh boy, I can just imagine what Episode 5 is going to be like now! It's such a good story, I LOVE ♥ the scenery and the talented cast, too. What a series! They've done an excellent job! Wow!
Have a wonderfully stunning Saturday, Everyone!
I'll try to BBL, but I'm doing snail mail, reading, writing 1 story, LOL/the house, and am watching college football with DH. It's a nice time, when weekends come, like this, to just chill out, relax, and enjoy the weekend, as much as we can, with each other.
