grateful for all you.. may you have a lovely day

I have always believed that being grateful and giving thanks for even the littlest things is important in my life - it truly adds to my happiness and it becomes a habit.
I guess that's why I love Thanksgiving so much - it's not the food (even if that's great ) but the importance of this day, for me.

I have to make the veggies for our part of the Thanksgiving... I am heading to the kitchen.

Enjoy your day with family and friends. Serve love and joy along with your turkey and goodies... I am enjoying the quiet of the morning before my home bursts with activities. I plan to make memories as well as a Thanksgiving feast.

We live in blessed surroundings so it is good to pause and give thanks.

I'm always amused that in the US many pause to give thanks for all they have and then rush out the next day to buy more. Or even later the same day, now that the sales have eclipsed Thanksgiving.

We have Black Friday sales here, not because it is tradition but when our dollar was at or close to par, too many sales were being lost to shopping trips to the US. This year, with our dollar back down, an item cost $1 in the US costs us $1.15 or more and the organized shopping trips are way fewer. To be able to bring things back, tax and duty free, one had to be out 48 hours so you have to figure in the cost of meals and hotel, which means you have to buy a lot of stuff to make it worthwhile and if something is only 15% more in Canada, it is better to buy here in Canada. Of course, the item I bought last night cost me in total $29.40 instead of $21.40 (after converting to C$) But I didn't want to bother with the hour long drive to go get it. When I live halfway between here and the border, it was just as easy to run down to the US as into the city for something and most times I'd save a bundle even when I considered the gas used and bridge toll.

The church service this morning went well. One of my seniors said she was confused when I asked her how she was. That's because I was sitting with her instead of leading the service! Eventually, we had a full chapel but they drifted in over 10 minutes late. They had to bring in more chairs but that's just because they've taken out 6 in the past few weeks. I told them to put something back in because I usually get 14 - 18 and 12 chairs wasn't enough for Sunday. Apparently, they are waiting for the arrival of new chairs matching our new table and cabinet.

There was a sign in the elevator lobby warning us that there may be a strong smell today. We left while they were working on the floors in the apartment down the hall. When we got back the smell was awful. They've even taped the door shut but it didn't help. I've taped our door shut and opened windows. All the rooms with ventilation are shut off in order to keep too much of the smell drifting to the rest of the apartment. The smell is giving me a headache so I may end up at the library to work today.

I got up @ six fed hens. Got going on the kit. Stuff to clean up the sinks in side and out and swept the patio moved boards out of the way from under the eves and stored em under the big shop. Had to tell h. I was not cleaning up the carport now it will have to wait for a time slot when I am not so focused on cooking.

Showed h how to prep a bird for cooking removing 2 bags rinsing it etc.

Just running through to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and for the Canadians and others - just have a very happy day.

We have reservations for 3 at our favorite restaurant who put on a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. Mr. Guy has his usual - filet mignon with stuffing instead of potato and I have the typical turkey dinner. I look so forward to this every year. Then ... the big game at 5. First time 49ers and Seahawks meet this year. I think maybe it is a tossup as they are meeting in SF Levi's Stadium. If they were in Seattle - which they will be in another couple of games - the crowd noise is the big worry for the visiting teams. Those Seattlites are vicious.

We are out of here by 7 in the morning. I always have mixed feelings. I love my home situated just below the Sierras with a wonderful view, but then when I get to AZ our front window overlooks the Superstition Mountains and that is awesome! And .... then.... there are Rosie and Sweetie waiting for us. That is always a blast for 4 months. Later!
