Monday Marching Orders

What are your marching orders for your household today?

Are you delegating to family members, workers, shipping/online delivery folks, household machine helpers?

Have you a 5x5 or similar plan for yourself?

Here's hoping everyone's Monday includes some normalcy (oh, yay!) and marches along in step!
HUP, two, three, four... ...

Perfect for today, Harriet. I can spend some time focusing on household chores and Cmas prep today. I have no appointments or meetings on my calendar for today!! I am not teaching at the school or teaching at the church this week. Lovely! This almost feels like a vacation!. . . . except for this thing called "Christmas" looming in the future.

I'm up, got up a 16yo girl who stayed up too late studying and slept through her alarm, fed the ddogs for her, and have had some tea.

My goals for today:
- errands: groc. store, Target, Korean store, library possibly dry cleaners
- laundry
- organize work folders
- set up a gift wrapping station in our play room, aka setting up our ping pong table and playing LOTR DVDs. LOL! Not sure which one I'll watch this year. AND start wrapping gifts, of course.

Yup! Surely need marching orders for today. You're right, Helia, that "Christmas thing" looms ever larger each day on my calendar. And I've barely done anything toward getting ready. (Except eat too many cookies -time to lay off -my marching orders for today would be NO COOKIES!)

I'm through most of my morning routine and have done the dishes from all last night's baking.

Dh went for a walk and I declined, wanting to get some things done here this morning. At some point today he wants me to go up to church with him and perhaps go shopping or to visit dsisil. I do have some things I need to buy -I'm 'hostess' for our women's meeting tomorrow at church. Refreshments are simple since we're packing cookie packages for some shut-ins, etc. I just need to make sure we have beverage and my own cookies. Guess plates & napkins would help too.

Tonight I have my 'marching orders' to show up for our church council meeting (up north). Sounds like the church is getting very nearly ready for occupancy again. Know they've asked for people to come this weekend to clean and ready pews to be put back in. I'm surprised they're that far along.

Dh is back.

helia, I found a comic to express those feelings, with which I agree, too! (actually, a lot of us can relate, no matter what event is "looming in the future" and creating deadlines) Baby Blues from the other day.

We also contributed to food drive yesterday, like BookSaver. I noticed the church is trying to provide some boxes to carry it all, and that some have wrapped those cardboard boxes so that they appear more attractive under the tree. I happen to have a box just the same size, I think, so I believe I'll wrap it as an additional help for next week.

BookSaver, I'm so sorry that the situation with new president has turned out this way, although I remember that you were concerned back then. Change in leadership is tough no matter what, but some empathy with others can go a long way.

Nancy, bravo for your husband, making sure the two of you have reflective vests. That is good common sense.

Reflective subject - I stay irritated with dd's principal (usually an intelligent man), who insists on standing at the front of the school directing traffic in the barely-dawn light, wearing a black coat and dark slacks. When you think about it, why would any of the non-school-traffic drivers pay attention to his directions.... ... he's wearing the same as any pedestrian, just waving his arms. I think he forgets that the school is only the center of the universe for HIM, not for motorists.

Yesterday I made a banner for the Angel Tree out of simple typing paper and the supplies in the children's SS room. That distinguished the place to put those gifts from two baskets for showers going on. I was kept busy by logging in all the gifts brought in yesterday. One lady needed someone to wrap hers. Gee, I wonder HOW we will find someone. :D

Arriving home, we had just minutes for a sandwich before ds wanted to go out tree-hunting. Dd, my green-eyed boy, ds and I had rather a hard time finding one this year, but the third lot was the charm. Also while out dd and I baby-sat in the truck while ds checked on a job that was drying in another county, so we had a "road trip". (Ds' sideline business is parking lot maintenance - anchoring concrete tire stops, painting, handicapped zones, etc.)

I let ds get ahead of me watering the tree, and he doesn't know the oddities of our stand, so water spilled on the floor. Got that cleaned up. Anyway, the tree was up only a couple days past the target date, and with recent rains it was really the best day.

Mornng y'all...
I removed my footprints before I went to bed last night. My tree is up and except for hanging my wreaths I'm done with decorating.

My house is looking good so I can focus on others things. I need to finish up my photo project. Plus, I enlarged a picture of a dock in my childhood home town, bought some matting and frame and put it all together to send it to my BFF. However I noticed the matting has a small cut in it and it shows so today I will head back to m icaels to exchange it. Need to stop at the post office to get some priority boxes.

Xmas day dinner will be simple. Mr guy and Norma are joining us and we will be eating dinner at the same resort as we did last year.... I see prime rib in my future.

Time to get dressed. Just finished my coffee and breakfast so it's time to start my day. Waving to y'all. Hope your day goes as planned and puts a smile on your faces. Cy'all later

Today's goal is to finish the den. Period. Nothing else. End of subject. I think it is do-able - except for the donwannas.

Then I need to vacuum the area rug (and the den carpetI) and move the area rug into the den. That will force me to get a new area rug for the living room. The old rug does not match the new couch.

I've got to set up an event calendar to keep track of what I want to accomplish here at the house. Only 20 days until our celebration.

Breakfast next. BS was only a little high this morning instead of the OMG high it has been running lately. :D

It's 'misting' out fairly heavily right now. Dh had planned to go to church to repair the driveway, but can't while it's wet or getting wetter out! :? So we'll see what the afternoon brings. I do need to hit the store at some point and I'm sure we need to get water. (For cooking/drinking). Water here is heavily doused with sulphur. The water pump was stolen last year. DD immediately bought a new one -it's still sitting in the box. (Her opinion and mine I guess). Water's not horrible, but would be so much better if the star procrastinator would get busy and mount it. He wants to make a housing for it so it can't be taken again. Otherwise dh would get it mounted. And that housing just doesn't happen. She was HINTING heavily last night but didn't seem to be getting any response. ;) (Don't mean to complain here).

Think I'll look for some hanging files. Know I have some here somewhere. I ordered a couple of those slim filing things we were talking about the other day. Plan to do one for dd and hope they'll use it. I bought one for us too to put on the back of the desk in our room.

I'm off>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
