Monday PWYC

Post by BookSaver »

Good morning, villagers ~
I just checked my calendar and realized that my dentist appointment is not tomorrow, it's next week. That feels like I'm getting an extra day this week. :D

Today's schedule is also made easier because the post office and banks are closed for President's Day. Tasks relating to those places are postponed to tomorrow.

Tonight will be my first Monday working at the library, so I'll be training with a different person. I've had 3 weeks in a row learning from the one coworker, and she has been very helpful, but it will be good to pick up tips from another voice.

Before tonight ... no, wait, I need coffee and food before I can plan the day. ;) BBL.

Good Morning!

I just receive automated phone call from school. They are closing school today due to icy conditions. I looked outside and didn't see anything so walked out on the porch and did see a dusting of ice crystals. hum.....Maybe we are having a snow day so the children can stay home and watch TV reports of those who are battling so much snow? I'm clueless, but trust in the judgment of those making the call. We have a small school district but maybe a couple miles away the conditions are dangerous.

ANYway -- that affects my plans for the day. I thought I was going to get a few hours of quiet, but that isn't to be. So that mean the plans of doing paperwork are probably not going to happen.

On the other hand, the cancellation of school means I can move the cards to pack LO backpack, take/pickup him from school, help LO with his homework, and process his Monday folder to the 18th (Wednesday). We will still study his spelling words for this week (I can get those online) , read library books and work on Math facts so those cards stay in today's slot to be done.

I was going to pull a package of Meatballs stuffed with mozzarella from the freezer for tonight's meal. However, since I will have more than 15 minutes to prepare dinner I think I will leave those in the freezer for a different day. I am going to change tonight's meal plan to Indian Taco's.

I understand Lady M! Here, public schools were already closed today for the holiday but university, community college, county courts etc and lots of business has cancelled based on expected ice, although our forecast has changed from 3 - 6 inches of snow to now, icing in the morning (not yet started) turning to rain and back to ice tonight perhaps. Nothing happening right now, however.

Dh's office is closed today but he has a couple of appointments so he has headed to work. He will be bowling tonight, weather permitting, so should be a quiet day here at home. I'm supposed to get body work (massage) at 1:30 weather permitting.

Yesterday the movie The Imitation Game was quite good and enjoyable and then dh and I walked through the "salvage" place that has furniture and accessories and home stuff. DD needed help her her FAFSA when we got home and I was on the phone with her for awhile and also had to walk through her tax return. We had hoped she would come home this weekend so we could do FAFSA and tax return with her but she didn't. Was stressful. She was writing her "personal statement" to accompany the application for the dig project also and I told her that we could critique it after she wrote it, but she was the one who needed to be doing the writing. I finally got the quiet evening except that dh was watching the SNL special and it was so noisy, and Macs has been very whinny/needy/in and out in the evenings. Finally I retreated to read in bed and Macs settled down then.

Today the biggest "Must do" is to pay dmom's credit card bill. I haven't even downloaded her credit card and bank account in a couple of weeks, probably because Desk day Tuesday has been jury duty. I am planning to make chili tonight - must take meat out of freezer - but we still haven't finished off the mushroom barley soup. I guess it will be lunch today and tomorrow and we'll have both around for a couple of days.

Right now:
-breakfast
-meds/vitamins
-empty dishwasher/kitchen clean up
-start a lol
-walk dogs

Did I say snow? No. :( Forecast changed and we will get the same iced ice with extra ice on top that those I mentioned south of us will get. I won't even get a chance to see flakes or make snow cream as any slight upside to our slick world.

Another change is the guess about when it arrives, so in theory I have a larger window today of possible venture-time into the world. Wish I could guesstimate what road conditions will be like at the best possible hour tomorrow, but it's too confusing. I'll wait and see. It did dawn on me I could at least put PO mailings into the boxes at the PO when I am out today, holiday or not, and that would be off my mind no matter what our own mailbox or roads are like later.

HRH is getting ready to head out. While he's gone I want dd to vacuum some. We have an extra load of laundry for today, too. That all needs to be put away or drip drying before we consider errands.

Terribly cold here but bright sunshine.

Had a wonderful morning with dd's friends D & L. Have invited them back anytime they want to come, either together or separately (they aren't a couple.)

We got the explanation of the unexpected third person, A - she and her dh M drove up with D & L, and they all stayed at her in-laws on Friday. There was a big fight between M & A (culmination of sniping that happened on the drive up) and A left with the others because she didn't want to stay with her in-laws and M. Except D & L didn't want her dark mood (which dh noted) to ruin their vacation so they turned her loose and told her she could sleep at the guest suite but they didn't want to hang with her. She ended up going back to her in-laws. Today will be the awkward drive home with all four of them in the car again.

They are pretty upset (D was the MC at their wedding) and they both feel they are witnessing the end of a marriage. I'm a bit upset too. M was a friend of dd's through high school and I've also worked with his parents on a project. They are all wonderful people. I'm sure A might be wonderful too but on Saturday she was just moody and dark.

They've headed off now so the day is mine. Often I'm not even dressed by this time of the day. Already a load of laundry is waiting for the dryer and others are queued up. I need to load the dishwasher as well and then start in on paperwork.

Clinging to SHE cards to keep me on track. Otherwise a number of events would sidetrack me....

TA-DA's
** Apple/pecan muffins made and baked. They turned out excellent. LO & DGD3 acted as if they would starve to death while waiting for them to cool. Silly kids.
** DMIL called and said she needs to go to ER. She can't get anything to stay in her. DH immediately left to get his Mom and take her to ER.
** Long phone call from DMom listening to her talk in an negative way about little details of various family member lives. Things that don't matter......blah blah blah. I have to continually remind myself to be patient, kind and respectful while DMom puts people down. To focus on DMom and not what comes out of her mouth.
** DD arrived to get DGD3.

Next up -
** LO spelling words for the week
** Kitchen cleaned up
** MPB daily gross processed

Got that round done, kitchen cleaned up, dogs walked in a light rain, a.m. routine well underway.

Next:
-s2s
-make the bed
-download dmom's transactions, pay credit card bill, reconcile bank accounts
-order meds for dmom
-hang up lol from washer to dry, start another

Rain is coming down now and looks to be freezing on patio chairs and grill.

I'm glad I'm not getting that ice & rain like you guys are. DH's family lives in the Carolinas, Harriet, but they've moved southward. He travels all the way up north daily...but at least once a week he flies somewhere. I can't imagine how he's doing in this weather. We've had a couple cold nights, high 30's and low 40's and only into the 60's in the afternoon. Have been keeping the fireplace going. House is up to 71° inside but back here it's really chilly.

I know y'all  about our weather, but when you're used to near 100° for months on end, this is COLD.

Sat. we both just sorta puttered around and took a rest. Sunday was church and then our valentine's dinner in the evening. We took a couple home and looked at their radiator (leaking) and offered suggestions to fix. DH offered to come back and help install one she found on Amazon. The husband has been very sick and she is working full time and this is their only vehicle. I think we were in the right place at the right time.

Picked up a print at our drafting place, but I can't go to county offices or to bank and I brought back in the mail in the box. At least our garbage was picked up!
