Stress Relief Sunday

It can be easy to get distracted by rotating schedules, weekly to-do lists and hectic times. However, if we don't prioritize a little chill time, soon we'll be so frazzled we won't be able to accomplish the tasks we needed to do in the first place. Make sure to add stress relief to your week. - Adam Perlman, M.D.
If you were to make a point to schedule in some additional stress relief for the coming week, what would it be? Do you think you'll get to it?

a fine good morning to you d Harriet and all!
stress relief... mmmm I have to think about that. I am very behind on keeping my home peaceful - I think I may have to do work at home so that my home feels peaceful and de-cluttered again - and at a basic clean level. Right now there is clutter in each room... the put away type of things. I think the more I put away the less stress I will feel.
I will keep stress release in my plan for the week. Thank you d Harriet!
My card file has been on hold this week as I have not been home from early morning until late at night. I think if I had to continue being away from home at that level I would have to adjust my routines plus hire someone to do weeklies. I am okay with saying I can't do it all - without any guilt

to help with stress release I think I will start my planning for week. My heart wants to go straight to de-clutter rooms and focus rooms but I know without my plan and a plan for dinner I will be behind the 8 ball (whatever that means)
so my goal today:
planning
room by room small decluttering.
laundry

I surely can use stress relief. One way I'm relieving stress is to feel good about tossing/decluttering a few items every day. Got dd to put 8 mugs in the give-away box today. Still have to do mine when we get back from church.
Have a birthday luncheon at church right after worship this morning. One of our members is throwing himself an 88th birthday lunch. DD made a really adorable card with her new silhouette. He'll really appreciate it I know for sure. He was a music teacher and our pianist. DD made a card with piano keys cut out on the front and musical notes with the first couple of lines of "happy birthday". Then she wrote a really nice phrase inside. For sure he won't get another like it.
We're off. Stay warm all you people in cold areas and I think that includes almost all of you. Sunny, Harmony and I are looking at warmer temps today. Get some rest, Harmony.

I did manage to mend 2 pairs of capris today. Reworked a button hole and darned a fault that was growing into a hole.
load of washing.
church and a mtg tonight.
More rain/shower this afternoon.
Harriet - my comment on tv the other day - all the channels had saturation coverage of the cyclone, with live links to reporters, waiting for something dramatic to happen. I was over it, had watched too much, but still wanting to know the what was going on where.
There is still flood waters to go down the Mary River from our hinterland to Gympie. 17+ meters expected - maybe that peak has happened already. The folk and businesses affected pull everything out of their businesses / homes before hand. Heard on tv of one who takes out power points and light fittings as well as everything else. Expensive, but less than total loss of everything.
Though last time some new businesses away from the town center were caught unawares.
Then on to Maryborough. My db has a riverfront farm near there that gets affected.
And the people and places directly hit with wrecked homes and businesses - that will take a long time to jump the hoops and get rebuilt.
I heard more about that water spout that came in off the ocean across the beach and up into the suburb I took Kathryn and Ken. Surprised folk there.
Praying for the US/Canadian folk who are adversely affected by your deep freeze.
Stay safe and well. Prayers for recovery for those on sick parade.

I did the chicken chores outside water was frozen so I had to break that and haul some out for them this morning glad that is done, chicks are fine. Watching hawks come and go from next door to hunt in the field.

It is sunny here today.
I think I have meal plans for today laundry is current, dishwasher needs rebooted.
Want to knit a bit and make some progress on some projects.

Checking in, we are thankfully back to more normal temps.
I could use some stress relief from dh today - he's been bored and got frustrated with me this morning because I hadn't done what he asked me to do in following up on something. I think he's mostly bored and snappish. We were going to a get together last night from a club that he's part of, and it was cancelled because of (still slushy) conditions. We went out to eat but he's just bored at home. Shouldn't be my fault, however.
Don't know what's in store for today - the thing from last night was rescheduled to tonight so we'll go there this evening.

Lynlee, I figured it was something like that - using good judgement on so much tv watching during big news reports.
Harmony, you and the Mr are on my mind. Hope you both feel better. Glad you didn't have it any worse with that odd situation of having to walk so far.
Grateful that my silly hair worked its schedule out this weekend and so I felt more confident at church. Also I had enough sense to use a sweater chain this time to keep my cardigan from driving me crazy. Our bass singer had called me so someone would know he was too sick to make it to church. Because the other soprano also wasn't there, it was just the two of us to lead singing, and one song was very difficult, new. Musicians also had their struggles with it. We practiced and practiced and just allllmosssst got it right, but messed up the last bit. Sigh.
We had to have men stationed at our walkways this morning to direct folks and sometimes offer an arm. The ice was still scary, and the side entrance was deemed too chancy, so everyone was to enter the front. Attendance way down.
Funny to see all the children who probably have permission to go in and out the main doors during sermon every Sunday, changing because of weather to go through the on-view door where everyone could see. They would look back at mother or father for more and more permission, slowly inching out in view, then gently opening the door, but once on the other side not-so-gently closing it - bam - and off to the potty.

I feel sure your singing was still joyful, even if there was a mistake, Harriet, and everyone with sense probably appreciated that you were willing to do it.
We're up to about 28*F right now, so that's really nice! It feels like spring! But our temps are supposed to fall today, and most of this coming week is forecast to still be quite cold.
Stress Relief. .. .Hmmm.. . . This is very basic, but I feel less stressed when I allow plenty of time (not always possible, I know) and I'm not procrastinating tasks, panicking at the last minute. Today, I hope to get some things done for tomorrow, like my Hebrew translation (probably will take 2-3 hours total), perhaps lesson planning for tomorrow (I'm going to make a guided activity), and editing a writing sample tutee R has sent me for her tutoring session tomorrow a.m.
I went to church this a.m. but skipped the CE (Christian Ed.) Hour after the service and stopped by Po tbelly's to pick up a salad for my lunch. I ate that at home, and have been relaxing since. I will call my parents late this afternoon. Tonight, I don't know if S and R are eating here or not. It saves them an evening of cooking, but OTOH, S is getting back today from being out of town for the weekend. The Sunday evening meal here is simple and scripted, just bread from Whole Foods and toppings, including some of our Dutch cheese which Dh brings back by the kilos from his trips to the NL. Probably fruit and/or some soup tonight as well. . .Sometimes, it bugs me that we feed S and R so many times each week. No one did that for me when I had small children and was working part time, though I didn't work as many hours as S does. I'm not even sure whether it is S or R that does the bulk of the groc. shopping and cooking right now. R used to do about 80% of the cooking and meal planning for them, even though he is an MD and has a busy job at the hospital. I think that is shifting a bit now with baby J on the scene and S working less than full time - at least on paper; I think in reality, she probably still works about 40 hours/week. OTOH, I do want to support S' working, and I do love them and it is always good to see them and baby J.
Off to work on Hebrew.

Lynlee, today I noticed on dh's FB page, that someone had put the outline of Australia over a map of the USA and Canada. It covered probably 90% of the US and a chunk
of Canada. It went on to say that from Melbourne to Brisbane is a 24 drive.
It started snowing last night around 9. It was snowing hard and looked like feathers. At 11:20 we lost power for 20 minutes. I was scared it would be off for the long haul. In 1987 we had a blizzard on a mid March Monday. Then that Friday evening we had another start of a blizzard that lasted into Sunday. Dh was called into work Friday night and it was almost 48 hours before he was able to come home. We lost our power Saturday morning and it was miserable. We did not get power back until late Sunday afternoon. The driveway was drifted shut and we were stranded. Dd1 and I tried to make hot chocolate out of hot tap water. Not a good idea. A friend lived at the end of our cul- de- sac and her dh was snowed in at the plant also. Her power came on around 1 on Sunday afternoon. We were on different transformers. She said come on down, I can offer you hot chocolate and chili. It didn't take long for us to get ready to trudge down the street to their house. I left my porch light on so that I could see when my power came on. We used to have a lot more blizzards than we do now. They are forecasting for us to get 6-10" and it should quit by 6 am tomorrow. Dh has the snowblower ready to go. He is excited to play with it because for the last 5 years or so, he had to work every time it snowed, so I would shovel.
We are watching the Daytona 500.
BookSaver, did you see that mom Decorah has laid a 2nd egg? Now the wait is on to see if she will lay a 3rd egg in a few days. I read that rarely do they lay a 4th egg.
Harmony, I sure hope and your dh start feeling better. You have had a rough winter, so far.
Harriet, I imagine that low attendance at church was wide spread today. With weather like we are having today, it makes sense to cancel. On the TV this morning, it was scrolling across the bottom all of the closings and the area was wide spread.
This morning I fixed bacon, an omelet for dh, poached eggs for me and toast for breakfast. Lunchtime has come and gone and I am still not hungry.
