Thursday Stroll

Post by BookSaver »

Good morning, villagers ~
Here's a little dance I just learned from youtube -- the Charleston Stroll --

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8famBav52s

And here's another video of a group demonstrating another version of the steps --

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_lAVLZBlLY

It's too early in the morning for me to move that quickly, but maybe by mid-day I'll be able to match their energy! 8-)

PS: I love this song. :)

Thoroughly enjoyed that, BookSaver. I was pleased that I remembered the song as "Sing, Sing, Sing", but I don't think of this as "jitterbug" as one commenter mentioned. Of course, maybe not the Charleston either, so yes, a fun eclectic dance. I agree with you that that much energy is to be desired! Wish that the passersby could have realized we were watching :) and walked behind the camera!

BookSaver, I kinda hope for you that an energetic and bright teenager can be hired so that your hours don't change more than you would like.

I am hearing a woodpecker this morning. Interesting to think how much energy he has.

Lynlee, so you are continuing the long drive for now. Hope it continues to be worth it to you. The dog is probably glad to get you home and walking!

Two bday cards were a TaDa yesterday, through to mailing. But not before HRH had to buy one that he felt was better, lol. He thinks my choices in greeting cards are too sensible!

Genuinely trying to get all these errands done this week, but pharmacy line was so long yesterday that it was hopeless, so that is still on the PODA. Sigh.

So, Harriet, are you reading that women over 74 only need mammogram every 2 years? Might that be in my future instead of every year. For me it's an extremely inconvenient and extra painful thing. I'd gladly put it off for 2 years. (Mine is more the issue of my left arm and the difficulty they have with that and getting a good picture -usually means 2 or more tries. )

Going to lunch with dsisil and her sisters (this is my turn to be treated).

I'm s2s, hair washed, meds done, bed made. Now for breakfast and a cup of coffee. Want to do up the dishes and get a LOL done before I leave. Wasn't going to do laundry till tomorrow but I see I probably need to do it today.

I'm slowly getting into my day. I guess I have a "3 o'clock bladder". Seems to be the time I'm waking up and HAVE to get up. ;) But then, of course, the problem is getting back to sleep. It was well after 6 before that happened today.

Yes, not a traditional Charleston but looks easy enough to do that it would be fun for young people today to do as a crowd. Beats the Chicken Dance on so many levels!

I'm up.

Slept better than the night before (but not great) and much longer. Didn't wake up finally until 7:45, and had truly weird dreams while the radio was on from 6:30 onwards.

Dee:
I have 4 a.m. bladder. But I've been drinking at least 10 cups of non-caffeinated liquid a day (mostly water) including de-caf tea in the evenings so that is to be expected. At least I usually get back to sleep quickly unless my knee is also paining me badly.

Dd is coming for my "mothers' day' visit in less than 90 minutes so I need to get breakfast and dress for the day. Did a bit of tidying while my tea was being made.

Received an email from IKEA stating plant pots are on sale 25% off for the next few days. I think I'll go back and at least pick up a few of those. And possibly the fake plants since they will make the balcony look better. I need to paint the support for the weather station so I can mount the wind chime holder. That then opens up a corner to be filled. I'm very close to being finished the balcony but need quite a bit of help from dh with the last bits. I want to hang an outdoor angel decoration on the wall between the windows to brighten up that stretch of concrete. If I have dh put a hook in on that space on each balcony, then I'll be set when I think of something to hang on the other balcony.

For lighting, I've decided on candles. None of the solar lighting I've found has on/off switches although IKEA had some nice options, I don't think I want the balcony lit all the time (if I had unlimited money I would!) It amazes me that all the lighting solutions I've found assume 8 - 10 hours of sunlight a day or an electrical outlet. I have neither. Most of the lighting is mood only, not light to eat by, which is why I'm leaning back to candlelight (plus light coming through the windows of the apartment.)

I am afraid that I have made a very bad decision. Tuesday night dd1 took out dh's drain tube as directed by the papers we were sent home with. Yesterday morning it looked fine. By late morning it was a little swollen. Dh finally called them at 1. They wanted him to come in. He told them that he was 400 miles away and had an appt today there, to take out the stitches and be checked. So they said ok, see you then. By 9 last night he wanted dd1 to look at it. She did and then had her dh come. They both thought it looked like it was infected and suggested we go to the ER, which we did. They ran a bag of antibiotic thru an IV and we came home. Dh has been adamant that I didn't need to go with him, he could drive up, get his stitches out and start home, find a hotel on the interstate and finish the trip home tomorrow. Last night I told him that I could go ahead and pack and go with him. This was at 11:00. He insisted that was not necessary. I wish now that I had not listened to him. I keep thinking what if they decide to go back in and put another drain tube in, to drain any infection. They sent him home without an antibiotic. We questioned them and they insisted it had not been ordered.

I have been irritated with dh because he had been sneaking around smoking before we left home and I caught him outside at the hotel. He was smoking within an hour of leaving the hospital. I told him that he should just go to the dr. an hour from here that sent him to KC and have him take out the stitches and for him to take care of it. Dh said oh no, they told me to come back there. Well how come he can be compliant on that but not smoking? This morning before he left we were talking and dh told me that on the chance that they would go ahead and put another drain tube in and hospitalize him, what would I do for a hotel? I had a hard time getting one a month ahead of time. I just feel terrible for not going.

The other issue we are having and it started on the way to KC. Dh has been snippy with me daily. The day of the surgery after being at the hospital 14 hours, I said something and he said something hateful. I looked at dd1 and asked her if she was ready to go. He said well don't leave mad. I told him I wasn't mad, but I had been there 14 hours, I needed to eat and we were leaving. Later dd1 said I bet he thinks we are coming back. On the way home he mentioned that he thought we were coming back. I know this has been stressful, painful, etc. for him, but he has not once apologized for being such a grump. If he would just say don't take this personal, I am just irritated or fill in the blank. But no, he acts like all this is my fault. I am now sitting here feeling like a terrible wife, person, etc.

So I guess I will get my work done around here today. If they do throw him in the hospital, I can make the decision whether to take the train up there and a cab to the hospital or not.

I could sure use some prayers over this situation.

You've got 'em, Lilac. Will be praying for all the situations you have mentioned here, INCLUDING the smoking. Wonder what a collective prayer would do on that front......

I've eaten and have a LOL going. Put the dishes in the sink to soak and am about to go do those. As soon as the LOL is ready for the laundry twin, I'll be on my way to disil's. Have to come right back here as soon as we're through eating. DS-A's 200+ shirts are due to be delivered this afternoon. DD is hoping I'll be here so they can just put them in the garage (I have to be here to open the door from inside). If I'm not here they'll take them back to UPS and dd will have to go get them, load them, unload them....Guess they won't be left on the porch.

Thank you for caring. Just talked to dh, he said the swelling is no better or worse. We will see.

I have been cleaning and doing laundry. Have a long ways to go. Luckily there is no clutter to deal with. Just cleaning. Better go my bs feels low.

They returned the mower. It is too wet, so will mow later. It is to rain tomorrow or I would wait.

Good morning all! I drove in today because my brother is once again passing through town. DD13 and I will see him tonight, but I don't know what time (and neither does he - it depends on how things go at the worksite). I did not want to be limited to train/bus schedules, so I have the car. It is so nice to be able to drive in without worrying if the car will make it!

Last night's animal org meeting went late, as usual, and I didn't get home until 10 pm (it's across town). I did the bare minimum of cleanup in case my brother sees the house, but it is not very clean. My office is very loud today as the blowers to dry out everything next door are industrial strength. Just got an email that work will be finished by today, yeah!

I am moving the cats off of the expensive limited ingredient diet now that Briggs is better. I am going to try a different, but good, diet. He has had it before, but I am not sure which food caused the allergic reaction. If this works, I will stay with it. If it causes the problem, I will go back to the limited ingredient until the reaction goes away, then try a different food. I know most foods were fine for him.

Prayers said for Lilac and family.
