Washing-up Wednesday

What needs a good washing around your house today?

Saw an English reference to a "washing-up machine", and thought that sounded wonderful. :) I would dearly love a washing-up machine for a lot of tasks that don't fit with existing mechanical helpers! LOL. Of course, that meant dishwasher, since "washing-up" is an English idiom for cleaning dishes. So, no such dreams of a new invention.

Elbow grease it is!

I have been putting diatomaceous earth (food grade) around the baseboards in our home. Having this fine powder on the edges of the floor definitely shows where I need to do more washing up.

BTW - we tried to explain "elbow grease" to LO this week. It came up in a conversion and it didn't make any sense to him. You put grease on your elbow?

Today only has 3 hours away from our home. Hopefully I can make some good progress on home loving tasks by the end of the day.

Good morning, villagers ~

Checking in to see how Dee, LadyMaverick, and Kathryn are doing. I hope you are all in much less pain today.

Sunny Looks like you have been having a wonderful visit with family. :) Oh and I see Harmony is also having extended family time and showing grandchildren about hard work ethic, good lessons there.

Dove I'm sorry you injured your shoulder.
Hi Blessedw2.
Drank some diet cranberry & water from soda stream.
Nancy that sounds yummy. Impulse buy Monday I picked up a bottle of cranberry lemonade, but it sounds overly sweet to me so now I will try your idea of putting some in sodastream carbonated water.

This morning I am able to pause a little while after a couple of days of high activity.
I have to make a bank deposit for the library group, and LEGO Club this afternoon, but otherwise I can work at a slower pace at home.

Trash bin needs to go to the curb tonight so I think this will be a good day to clear out the refrigerator. Who knows what I'll find lurking in the back of the shelves.
I'm very impressed with how much you are getting done these days.
Thank you for the nice compliment, Harriet. However, I must confess that I like to document high-progress days here to counterbalance the number of days that I don't feel like I get anything done at all. My house looks like all I do is sit at the computer all day. It's very discouraging, so sometimes it helps to write out how I've spent my time so I don't feel as if I've spent my entire week reading blogs & watching youtube videos.

Washing up is what happens in the kitchen sink here too, and I got mine caught up today.
Load of washing inside, ( the laundry is a place with washing facilities for clothes etc) and another load out.
Bits of rain here so ongoing drying problems with things progressing to hang about inside.
Not the problems with rain here atm in comparison to many places in US.

Hoping its fine tomorrow to drive to city. I need to get ready for bed. good night.

Booksaver: I find a lot of the 'juices' are too sweet for me so often add at least 50% seltzer or club soda. If I'm out at IKEA, I'll do 1/4 Lingonberry juice and 3/4 soda water which gives a nicely flavoured water. At home, I've been putting 3 - 5 frozen raspberries into 16 oz of water for a bit of flavour. It is amazing how little needs to be added to change plain water to something delightful.

Lucylee:
reading your post about upsetting ddil yesterday reminded me we are so much alike. I'm pretty annoyed with my sister and dd right now. Both imply the professional lynching of Tim Hunt was completely acceptable and dd, rather than speaking out about the lynching, chose to say that there should be a "Hunt's Law" which states that any attempt at humour that involves any 'ism' will lead to downfall and should not be made.

There were 39 words in Hunt's speech that were deemed worth destroying a Nobel Laureate's career over. Nowhere can I find the rest of the words in his speech. Thankfully, women who actually worked with or studied under him have come to his defense to say it was humour not his daily actions, but that means nothing to my sister who called him a sniveling coward who forced his wife to defend him. In other words, he a sexist, an abuser and a coward. All for making a joke about falling in love with women coworkers in the lab (which he did in real life and married her.) His attempt to make a joke about his personal experience has been seen as proof he is an oppressor.

Somewhere it has become one's words not one's actions that count. Which I believe is bollocks. People can misspeak or be misunderstood. It is how they behave towards others that counts.

(My sister's automatic distrust of any action of a male is one of the the big reason reasons I dislike being around her, she has repeated discounted the good in any man, unless they are gay.) To paraphrase MLK, I'd rather judge a person by that person's character and actions than by their reproductive organs.

I have a sore chest this morning but that's a side-effect of the stress test yesterday. Aside from that, I'm fine. Legs are actually quite good this morning.

Dh and ds have left for their hike.

The jack-hammers started at 7:30 and are already driving me nuts.

I've dealt with the government over our tax withholding account.

Am off to have my breakfast now on the other, hopefully quieter, side of the apartment.

dd younger was taking the flag down at work and lightening hit close to where she was.. thank goodness she wasn't touching the metal pole and only the rope and had on rubber shoes. Everyone was shocked and ran out to see if she was okay - but at least she didn't get hurt. So I have lots to be grateful for!!! I got the call that started out "Hi, I am fine but...) She laughed about it when she came home but admitted it scared the daylights out of her. ah to be young lol.

d lady.. I hope your back pain goes away fast. I do agree with d Harriet the connection between stress and pain as dd younger's pain doctors have verified that studies show a link between ones level of stress and the heightened levels of pain. Actually part of theory of why some people come down with CRPS is that a stressful event along just prior or during an injury can raise the chances of changing the brains understanding of pain in the nerve endings permanently- as in dd youngers case. Things that help dd younger: She has become a big believer in breathing techniques-mindfulness, bio feedback, and physical therapy and for her pain (as the her body temp in those pain areas are 30 degrees cooler than the rest of her body) is a heating pad. Praying your pain goes away. She really believes in breathing techniques from the bio feedback to help with pain. Best of everything!

sometimes it helps to write out how I've spent my time
Sometimes I need to do this too. BWTG Bookie!

Blesssedw2 - Thank you for sharing that! I appreciate the information and IRL experience of help/solution

I am frustrated with the slanted reporting in the news these days. I don't stay up with much of the news (I just read a couple articles on Tim Hunt after being mentioned by Kathryn) because it is depressing and I can't believe how misleading much of what is reported as if it was the complete truth. It takes investigating to find out the whole story. I have been following the Duggar story and get frustrated with reporters taking 1 or 2 words/actions and presenting them as the whole story. Then that sliver of the whole story is copied over and over in various papers & news shows. I have always wondered if people believe what they are told in countries that are control by dictators. IMHO we are approaching that same force-fed slanted news with only slivers of the truth.

I have done outside furkid cards and taken care of pool tasks.

Menu planning system showed it was Breakfast Cookies which lead to a bit of organizing of the freezer. I am still in learning mode - trying this and that ways to discover what works best for us. I knew I had some Breakfast Cookies in the freezer but couldn't find them. I made labels for half dozen storage boxes that I have been trying out in the freezer. I think they are going to work well so now I am spending the time/effort to make labels. ANYway.....30 minutes later the Breakfast Cookie are being served. Hopefully this process will be quick & easy from now on.

LO requested to spend some of his saved money on a guitar. We found a beginner kit and ordered it a couple days ago. The first thing LO wanted to do this morning was check the Fedex tracking for location of guitar. He was thrilled to see the expected delivery has changed from next Tuesday to tomorrow. :)
