THINKIN' THURSDAY

I've been 'thinkin' about what to name today so this is all I've got!
Glad you were able to enjoy the outdoor activities from even inside, Kathryn.
Gotta love those 3 x 5s!
Yes, I need to get a lot written down on some that I can transport back & forth to FL, Harriet. Have lots of sheets of paper sitting around with that kind of info that needs to be transferred and all these sheets tossed.
All our dks and an extra guy turned up for dh's birthday last night. DS-A & ddil#2 brought pizza and wings for all. I ended up putting all the leftovers in our fridge but will give them to DS-A this afternoon when they arrive for the weekend. They were going to stay last night but it was just too wet. We've probably had 3" so far this week. Think the weekend is supposed to be pretty good. This will be the first time in, let's see oh probably FOREVER!! that there has been no racing on the Saturday of the 4th. Know where dgs15 races they voted not to race this week. DGS wanted to, but DS-A had voted against it. Dh has always been away or had to work -well, he'll probably have to work but at least he'll get to see the magnificent fireworks display they have here. I have a new awareness of how difficult this weekend is for so many vets and war refugees -with all the booms. Always have known how difficult it is for our pets. DD puts dBailey in her MH with the AC full tilt and the TV turned up and Bailey has on her 'thunder coat'. That does help her -not all dogs are helped but she is.
My leg/ankle were quite swollen last night but still managed to sleep fairly well. Speaking of which, it's about time to elevate it for a while. BBL

Woke up to sunshine but it is still chilly and windy.
I'll be brief since I need to get going in less than 30 minutes...
Slept deeply but not long enough. Dh woke me at 7 but it took until 8 to get out of bed. I s2s first (unusual for me but I wanted my hair to air dry while having breakfast.)
Weight is holding so I'm pleased (it has been a rough few days for diet.)
Kitchen and dining room are tidied up now, and I'm just finishing up my tea and chocolate.
I've returned the phone call from the doctor's office (it came while we were gone.) My heart test came back normal.
I've noted the bus schedule so will be able to catch a bus one of the directions if necessary (dh pointed out the car dealership has a shuttle service sometimes.)

Happy Belated Birthday to Mr. Dee!!
Happy Belated Anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Nancy!!
Well, yesterday was a wash. I barely touched my list. I got home from meeting with my mentee around 3:40. I think I did some emails and puttering, went for a jog, and then it was time to go to friends' home for dinner. We were to be there at 6, so I thought for sure we'd be home by 9 pm. Nope. We were home a little after 10:30 pm.
I think it was good, though. They needed to share and I think they needed to hear what dh had to say (what he could say) about what has been and is going on in the church.
I am socialized out this morning after meeting with my mentee for over 2 hours and then having dinner with friends for over 4 hours. She talks pretty much nonstop. . . .
So far today, I have:
- let dogs out and back in
- decluttered the fridge
- had bfast; working on last mug of tea now
- updated WW app with food from yesterday
- emailed new moms group chair w/ 3 sign up sheets she'll need
- texted mentee about a ride to our home for dinner tonight
Next:
- QT
- check on laundry
- s2s and self-care
- make bed
Later:
- all the things I didn't get to yesterday
- put together test for my class
- jog again
- stop by WF for fish, fresh ginger, fresh garlic for dinner tonight
- start the breadmaker before I head out to payroll
- payroll
- pick up mentee?
- finish getting dinner together
- dinner for 7 adults + baby J
- pick up ds at the airport ~ 10:30 pm

Good morning, villagers ~
I did my declutter challenge -- 15 minutes in the pantry -- first thing this morning because when it's in the kitchen, it's easy to get it out of the way before coming to the office to turn on the computer.
Last night's meeting ended up running long again, ugh. No conflict, just a lot of talking talking talking ...
Then I came home and did a 3rd load of laundry just because I didn't feel like dealing with any more paper.
Today's 5x3:
* Several post-meeting follow-up tasks (in process)
* Filing (done!)
* Update & sync calendars for work schedule
* Menu plans for the long weekend (DH has tomorrow off for the 4th of July holiday)
* Check fabric stash to see if I have enough Tshirt knit to sew a top next week
I'm due at work at 4 but I want to go in early to do a couple quick volunteer tasks. Also, I got up really early so I'll need to take a nap before work
since there is no chance of sneaking one in at work.
Harriet ~ Congratulations on yesterday's cardfile success. I'm sorry about your dcousin's dh.
And now, after so many suggestions, I'm craving a cucumber sandwich but neglected to buy a cucumber this week.

I will have to make do with lettuce and tiny tomatoes. First world problems, eh.

I've been setting alarm for 7:15 but finding it very hard to actually get up. Our phone rang at 7:45 this morning (dh was still at home) and I was still in bed - glad he was home because it was dd calling from Jordan so we could wish her a happy birthday! So good to talk to her; she sounds great, happy and well. (that was dh's first reaction: Are you okay?) This is 23 years for dtwins and it's "birthing day" for me.

It was sweet of her to call us - she had put six Jordanian dinars on her phone - about $8.50 and we talked til it ran out. I've wondered if she was homesick but her desire to stay longer makes me think not.
I don't feel that I had a particularly productive day yesterday but ta-das for the day indicate I was okay:
-body work for my achy back/side
-groceries
-returned library book
-went to a T uesday morning store and found colored dinner napkins to use tomorrow night
-talked to dh about dmom and dr appt on Tuesday (he was away Tuesday evening)
-ate well until got a pizza here for supper
Off the top of my head OMM for today:
-Costco
-pick up meals for dmom and visit
-make appt for her with arthritis specialist - doc said she has fluid on knees again
-spiff up the house for guest coming today
-we are eating out tonight
-what else?

Good morning! And a better morning it is than yesterday. I met up with the wonderful lady that found my wallet and it is back in my purse. I got NADA done on yesterday's list, but I did make dance class and looked at some yarn a friend had told me about. I decided not to buy any, even though it was on sale. Wonderful, beautiful, sparkly stuff, but I don't have an immediate use for it, am trying to declutter my sewing room, and am broke broke broke (with bills still pending). I also stayed up way too late finishing a mystery novel. Somewhat unsatisfying because, although the immediate mystery was solved, it is part of a series and they are obviously building to a larger mystery in a future novel. Hate hate hate when books are not self-contained. I don't mind if they have allusions to other parts of the series, but FINISH THE STORY!!!
I probably won't get much done tonight either, because I am going to the knit/crochet group I rarely make because I usually have DD13 on Thursday evenings. Tomorrow is a holiday for me, and I am going to make the Friday morning knit/crochet group, which I rarely make, now that I am employed. This weekend, I am going to let the newest foster cat have free roaming of the house all day.
Well, my software is done installing itself, so back to payroll! Bye.

Happy 'birthing day', Twins. How can they be 23 years old already? Weren't they just board babies? Or do we go back QUITE that far? Happy birthday to both of the twins!
I went for a walk, came back to elevate my leg and just finished doing up the dishes. I should join the 'declutter' challenge for July. I always have things to declutter -even in this small space and especially because of this small space! Now I even have more decluttering to do on the deck since dh and dd brought things from attic in our old house. Have cleaned out a couple of upright magazine type files that had programs from hockey & racing, keeping very few of them. If I haven't looked at them in 30 years, I probably don't need them. Did notice there's a box full of coffee mugs that dh brought from all over the world. Figured they were long gone. Maybe I'll try selling some of them at our annual park garage sale next month. One box is full of dishes of the Pfalt zgraff Village pattern. Hoping ddil#2 may take those. There's a sam sonite suitcase (think we got it as a wedding gift eons ago), missing the handle. Think I'll still take it to charity -someone may be able to use it for a play or something. That's full of embroidered baseball jerseys from K odak years ago. Dh did give one to the guy who fixes the washer/dryers here. He owns a pub by the same name and I thought he might want one just to hang. He did.

Love the title of today's thread. I still need to set up the pop up shade thing. Pulled weeds this morning 1st round done. Got some apples thinned for the chickens to peck at. Rounded up laundry.
Journal done.
