Friday Fantasy

Happy Friday Everyone!!!!

Last night I suggested Lucylee pretend that her ddil is watching her work around the house and she's teaching ddil all she wishes ddil would learn.

I'm constantly using make believe to keep me company while I work around, carrying on conversations or day dreams in my head. It helps me overcome the 'alone' part of housework and helps me get over the "I just need to start" problem. As Dee's signature line says, Begun is half done!

If it takes make believe and Fantasy to keep your routines fresh - go for it!

It is Conga Day - imagine your head-dress and bright, swirling, skirts and puffy sleeves combining with your confident, efficient, cleaning motions, to appear like a colourful tornado (no plain white tornadoes for us!) sucking up chaos and clutter and leaving your home spotless and welcoming.

I'm up earlier today. Knee/hip was stiff at 6 and my heating pad (the old one, already flaky) failed so I just got up at 7. A bit of heat would have relaxed it so I could sleep some more but that wasn't in the work. I had ibuprofen by my bedside but didn't want to take one since I knew getting up would also relieve the discomfort. The Voltaren gel would have worked as well, except to use it I have to get because hands have to be washed well after applying it. So I just gave up and got up.

Bedroom is tidied, kitchen is tidied and I'm just finishing up tea and chocolate.

I've ordered a heating pad from the Great S.American River website. Since I had a book in my cart and was waiting to get over free shipping amount, I'm happy that my book is on its way as well. Unfortunately, I have to either keep working with the faulty heating pad (unplugging it from the wall will solve the problem for another few hours before it fails again) or go buy one from a bricks and mortar store. I'll see what I decide. There are two within an easy bike ride and it might be time for me to try biking to Wm. There's one just off the bike path so I don't have to deal with traffic, although the better one is closer and there are bike lanes most of the way to it. Will figure that out later today.

Oh, good grief - is it early for my little brain... ...shouldn't be... ... I was about to look up that new site Kathryn was talking about for buying books. (knocking on head) helllooooooo?

My morning personal routine is done and Morning Daily Card started. Waiting (as always) for Miss Dd16 to unblur her eyes and tell me which laundry load would help her most  a factor that I can never seem to get past, and results in a constant bottle-necking of our laundry progress.

lucylee has her dh ... .. I have my dd. Sigh. Neither of us should pay them attention, lucylee. :!: We want to do something wholesome! We want to be part of the solution! We have high ideals! As HRH says, it's not as if we are "out running the streets". I say we clean house and take our chances. 8-)

I have my dsecondmil on my mind today and I don't know if I can make it through the day without SOMEone going over there to check on that household. I really wish it could be HRH and dd, leaving me here to make some progress on this house. But that may not be possible.

Good morning, Kathryn! Love the 'imagine' idea.

Slept till about 1 and then was up & down till well after 3. But then I slept. Barely heard dh up & about. I had a LOL for him to drop off at the laundry room. He put a new cover on our golf cart that closes all the way. I woke up around 7 and figured I'd run the cart down & put the laundry in the dryer. The 'windows' on the cart were so dew covered that I couldn't see so walked down, only to find dh had already placed things in the dryer. Hmmm....my timer just went off so it's time to get said laundry.

Oops....hit submit and left to go get laundry, never noticing that it sat here because Kathryn had posted. Good luck with the heating pad, Kathryn.

There's much to be said for that, Harriet. Don't ask me how I know.

Good morning, Kathryn!

Thank you all for the encouraging words yesterday. Things always do look better in the morning.

I am having trouble getting to sleep, went to bed at 11 and was still awake at 12:30, altho I think I got to sleep shortly after that. Our house guest was coming back last night late and perhaps I was thinking I would hear him come in, or maybe just couldn't shut my mind down. Anyway, I was up at 7 so I can get out of here and get a pedicure for the beach this morning.

At this point I need to have breakfast and finish straightening up MBR. I'm starting a li&t for ds - he will have to take out garbage and recycling and water some plants next week.

Gotta get moving...d house guest is up also...

And this also sat here, Dee, as I saw house guest off and got dressed. Finish up MBR and eat an egg and I'm out of here.

Good morning! I couldn't get back here last night with our house full of people and dfriend chatting until 11 pm. I love her to pieces. It was really hard for me when she and her family moved away, but she does talk a lot.

I got the downstairs spiffed as well as I could yesterday; I was even spot cleaning the walls and carpets and wiping down baseboards. Now, I'm thinking we really need to get a carpet cleaner in here. Dh is already working on window washers. It's funny how cleaning engenders more cleaning. . .

Dinner last night was good, thanks to dh who did the bulk of the cooking and was able to stay on task without being sidetracked by chatty dfriend. We managed to seat 12 around our table (2 leaves in) + a high chair! Every one pitched in to help setting the table and then with clean up afterward, so it wasn't as much work as it might sound.

I'm leaving in 25 minutes to go to WW. Then, I'm going to the TSS to buy more chicken feed and the probably I'll stop by the groc. store for odds and ends.

Dd17 has an eye appt. at 1 pm and then I'll go for a jog late this afternoon, whether it's hot or not. It looks like it might be a warm day. . .

Dfriends are eating with other friends tonight. Dd19 is out tonight as well, so it will just be dh, myself, and dd17 for dinner tonight. That will be nice.

Kathryn, I loved the idea of you emailing your young friends about going to see the Minion movie tonight! Let us know how you like it. I think we'll see it at some point too.
Harriet, you've reminded me that this is the summer I'll start dd17 here doing her own laundry; we have our kids start doing it their sr. year of high school.

Ack! Now I'm short on time!

I too got up early my hips legs were as long asleep giving me fits. I turned on the back sprinkler after I fed hens. As I was journaling realised I had a conflict in my schedule. So will need to deal with that. It is cooler but 36% humidity ack! Not a whole .ot better some rain in outlaying areas from here hope it helps with the fires but that is doubtful.

Hoping MH is taking a turn for the better.

Hi everyone!

I have a Dr. apt just after 1. After the Dr., I will stop in at the bank to drop off some paperwork to help us along with the house purchase.

We went to the house the other night and I left Wayne with the camera so he could take the pictures he needed. LOL! Um, not such a great idea after I looked at the pictures. Happy to report that my future library does in fact have a wooden floor. Overheard Wayne explaining to the current homeowner about his plans for the library walls. (Real wood panelling with built in wooden shelves.) Also happy to report that the kitchen does have a built in dishwasher.

We have talked a lot about our plans for the garden and the outside in general. I can hardly wait until the end of August.

I will be making an Italian chicken dish in the crockpot for dinner tonight.

I also plan to do laundry.
There is room for 2 extremely large front loading machines on pedestal bases for our laundry area. We saw the cranberry coloured ones at 2 different retailers the other day and we both liked the colour, so we will be going with that. The kitchen has 3 different coloured machines, and the fridge has the freezer on the bottom. I think the fridge might get replaced sometime in the first year as I have heard that the bottom freezers can cause a problem with things freezing in the bottom of the fridge. We shall see.

We will be getting at least one large chest freezer with the top opening for some beef that Wayne has already ordered from a friend.

Friend is a beautiful word. Wayne truly has so many friends and I am grateful for them. The musician had 3 "friends" and none of them ever did nice things for either one of us in the entire 20 years that I knew any of them. They would come over to drink and talk and that was about it.

Happy for Cathy. Sounds like a lot of happiness in the making.

helia, I may have started too early with all but oldest dd, who was very conscientious about hers beginning at age 12. Each child is different. Dd16 is, of course, quite busy with real deadlines, but I may also handle differently now and get in the way. I try to keep the rotation of loads going, casually at least, and assume we'll cooperate and still have similar colors washed together, that sort of thing. But MAGICAL MYSTERY happens in her room and closet more often as she grows older :| and she never seems to have any more of one color than another, or any need to hurry. I've started carrying a small load to her, placing it in her arms, and announcing - "Add To This".

Lynlee, glad to hear from you! I'm lost on who MH is - forgetting something.

Nancy and Kathryn, sorry about leg/hip discomforts today.

Dd16 called her grandmother, and someone else had already brought a breakfast biscuit to her, so although that puts my mind at rest a little, that she has had company at least to drop in and check on them today, we will probably head over there soon. I think she needs regular times to be able to talk things out with one of her own three children, and they are the ones who ultimately need to be keeping tabs on all.
