I could use patience today with this man in my household. What a grump this morning!

We're supposed to go see our friends at the river today - apparently the boat is working again, too, so we'll have a boat ride. It's going to be hot out today too.

I have completed daily routines 1, 2, 3 and 5. Routine #4 is in progress

I opened several windows this morning because it was 75 degrees outside. It feels good to let fresh air inside instead of being sealed up in a/c air.

This week is going to be heavy with time spent at church. It is VBS week and I'm cleaning the church after VBS is over. The VBS effort starts today with set up & decorating as soon as the 2nd worship service is over. The church is providing lunch to the VBS workers today. I have been collecting items for VBS decoration and have them stored at church. Thankfully, many hands make light work. VBS goes through 12 years old so DD11 has one more year to attend.

Our AC was on and running all night and again this morning. Hoping it cools down a little bit at least. We opted out of church this morning. I really didn't want to be 'seen'. I have a whole bunch of scabs on my forehead and absolutely NO IDEA what I did. Perhaps I scratched it during the night, but it just plain looks awful. Looks like I took a tremendous fall but I didn't.

Dh took our sheets down & threw them in the washer a little while ago. Now he's gone to wire in a C02 detector for a camper.

Imagine we'll watch at least part of game 6 of the NHL finals tonight -or maybe we'll just peek now and then to see how Tampa is doing. Hard to watch.

Okay, off to spruce up the kitchen. Slept very poorly last night so am rather dragging this morning.

If you found the shoes with the websites I found, LadyM, then I'm glad I could help. If you found them without my help, then it's still an awesome thing! 13 yr olds are often hard enough on their clothes and shoes, but when it's a size 17 shoe that's needed, it makes it even more awkward to have to buy replacements! Either way, he'll have shoes by the end of the week, and that's what's important!

Today promises to be a rather busy day for us. This morning, I need to make some icing and decorated dgd7's birthday cake (well...she's 6 at the moment, but will be 7 on Wednesday). I'm doing a simple cake this year. Basic white icing with some coloured balloons, a few coloured dots, and Happy Birthday Em*ly. She's an odd little goose when it comes to cake - one day she loves it, the next day she doesn't. The cake - chocolate - was made last night so it would be cool enough to decorate this morning. Early this afternoon is her party - at a beach on a big lake about an hour south of the city. The weather is saying there's a 30% chance of showers and/or a thunderstorm, but not until later in the afternoon. The party is at 1:00 and I slept in a bit this morning.

That means I'd better get off my tuchus and get some things done around here!

First round:

- feed dstarving pets
- make icing and separate several small bowls of it for colouring
- morning dailies
- fold laundry
- decorate cake
- wrap gift & sign card

Getting to my second cup of ice coffee while siting in a chair on my pools platform. I have my feet in the water and am enjoying some sun… this is part of my morning reward.

Was out early and drastically cut back the flowering bushes under my tree. Was able to meet a neighbor and her pup while I was working. After I cleaned up my mess, I got my 200’ garden hose out and fertilized the front, back and one side of my house’s plants. Course by then I was covered with sweat

I am both surprised and pleased at how well I am handling the heat and humidity.

After I finished outside I came into my lanai and fertilized all my plants I have in here. The pavers tend to grow black mold in places, so I moved furniture and treat several areas with a bleach solution. I also had mold growing on the pool side of the lanai but couldn’t reach it unless I got into the pool.

No problem…put my swimsuit on, jumped into the pool and took care of them. Then I swam a bunch of laps, grabbed my coffee and here I am. Forecast is for rain showers today. We had storms last night and I think Harmony may have as well.

Happy news…Sweetie is almost ready for a dog! Seeing everyone around here walk theirs has been a tremendous help. Would love a pitty but our home owners insurance won’t allow it. I’m already on the hunt. Would like another boxer and my bff used to run the central Fl boxer rescue before she moved to SC. I’m giving it sometime because of my moms situation.

Don’t know if I will need to spend some extended time there and if that happens I want Sweetie to go with me.

Need to finish up my routines so off I go…

Glad you're acclimating to that heat and humidity known as "FLORIDA", RR. I don't do well with it even here. But I'm ready to be back in FL. Keep waiting for my airline voucher to show up in my email so I can book my flight back there in October. I found a non-stop from Rochester to Tampa on October 29th. It's more than the flight to Orlando, but I finally realized it just doesn't matter as I'll be using the voucher which is worth way more anyway.

Dh just brought our sheets back from the laundry room. We'll make the bed up clean sometime this afternoon -or at least before bedtime. It was way past time to get them done. We only have 1 set so we don't have to store an extra set all the time. So far, it's been okay doing that. Make bed, strip, wash, dry, put back on bed. No folding necessary.

I'm trying to buy some sunglass/bifocal/wrap around/readers for dh to use when he's dipping tanks. So far not finding what he needs/wants. He wants them to be real wrap arounds so grass doesn't fly in his eyes when doing the mowing. I'm really not sure how much longer he's going to be able to work -especially when it's so hot. His boss told him he could work in the shop yesterday if he wanted. He last a whole half hour and said it was enough since he didn't HAVE to. They had a young guy quit the other day so there's more room for more hours if/when he wants them. This man will be 84 Friday and still going strong, even with all his health issues, but he is slowing down.

We really need to talk with our investor as we have way too much just sitting in our bank accounts and earning VERY LITTLE interest. Think we could do better with our investor. Need to sit down and figure out if he really 'needs' to work.

Dh said his DB was in really bad shape by the time he said good-bye this morning. Crying like a baby unfortunately. I know he's pretty much all alone down there (FL) at least until we get there this fall. I'm quite sure that dh will be spending a lot of time with him this winter and I know that it's getting quite hard on dh. They are treating the spots on his lungs now (to give him a 'better quality of life') but I think the expense is getting to him. My thought is just pay a minimum amount. After he passes his inheritants can sell his property which is now worth an exhorbiant amount and pay it off. It was supposed to go to DS-R but he can't afford to pay the others their share of that inheritance so it will have to be sold.

We finally got rid of BSL (Breed Specific Legislation...always against the bully breeds), here several years ago, and it was a happy day for many owners of pitbulls, dogo argentinos, presa canarios, american bulldogs, and other bully breeds. Although our BSL was specifically against pitbulls, all the other bully breed owners tended to get lumped in under the same umbrella of discrimination. I have to admit that a pitbull wouldn't be my personal breed of choice, but that's because they are such a high energy dog, and require much more than we would be able to give. Besides...being around a happy, tail wagging pitbull is like getting your legs beaten with a stick! LOL I've had bruises at work from just such dogs.

Your DH is 84 and still working, Dee?!?!? Lord luvaduck...I should be so active when I reach that age!

I'm just taking a quick break here. A couple of things are done from the list, but we come in to sit with dbratdog, as she gets rather anxious when left alone. Since she's so powerfully food motivated, she has to be fed away from the other critters. Without her puzzle bowl, she'd eat so fast she'd throw up. Silly pup! It seems she's eaten as much as she wants at the moment, though, so I'd better get back to work!
