Today promises to be - unsurprisingly - a very busy day around here. Housework, yard work, stuff to do at Mum's (both yard and inside), groceries to pick up, and mentally psyching myself up to go back to work on Wednesday. I've been on vacation, and I'm finding myself less and less happy about going back to work. A whole story in itself there....not for so early in the morning.
First up today:
- drink coffee
- plan the day - yep....gotta have my list!
- feed the starving critters

My morning is off to a good start although I am short on sleep. I have finished routines #1,2,3,4,5 & 6 which puts me in a good place to take on the rest of the day.
DD11 and I will be at VBS (Vacation Bible School) for 4 hours this morning. I am looking forward to the high energy that comes with being with little ones.
I will be making Meatloaf and Twice baked stuffed potatoes for the family. I'll be making BGS and 2 cups of cooked vegetables for me.

Yesterday's birthday party went over very well! The weather was perfect, The kids were in and out of the water, up, down, and all around the playground and green area, gobbled snacks like they hadn't been fed for a week, and the cake was enjoyed by all! The birthday girl was most impressed by the fact that her name was written in icing on the top.
Your question about gas prices up here, Deemade me go look up what people are paying in other provinces. I believe BC is the most expensive at about $8.80/US gallon. Here in Alberta, if you shop around a bit, you can find it for about $6.80/US gallon. Either way, it's getting stupid expensive!
You wanted to know about dbratdog, Ramblingrose? She's - as far as we can tell - a doberman/shepherd cross. At nine months old, she's more energy and enthusiasm than dog. She's utterly lovable, smart as can be, but the intent is that her home with us is temporary. Finding her a new home is much easier said than done, and we're starting to get rather attached to her. We really can't give her what she needs, though, which is much more room to run and play. Living in an older neighbourhood, we have quite a good sized back yard, but she needs about five times the space! She's also a chewer, a digger, and a counter surfer, and pesters our younger ddog incessantly (he doesn't mind most of the time), and insists on sniffing the cat. Keep in mind, though, that ddog younger comes over to play as often as he gets pestered. Dkitty will follow the dog around, get herself noticed, and then hiss and swat at the offending doggie nose invading her personal bubble!
I'm on my second cup of coffee, the day is pretty much planned, and the starving critters have been fed. At the moment, I'm sitting at the computer with the windows open, listening to the birds sing (one of the advantages of living in an older, quieter neighbourhood). Well...the birds *were* singing. Now there's a pair of magpies arguing over something
Time for me to get moving:

- sort/organize the box of office supplies from dMum's
- put away folded laundry
- more filing in back bedroom
- update email about dMum

We were at the river with friends yesterday and I got home exhausted last night. Somehow being outside in fresh air and the heat just wore me out. So I went back to bed at 7:30 when dh went to work and got up again at 9:45. Or maybe I'm just getting peopled out - I love being with these friends but spending afternoon and evening with them is wearing me out. But I love sitting by that river too.
So I'm getting a sloooooow start this morning! The house is in fairly good order because we weren't home much yesterday.

there used to be a huge onion field near our first home - they made it into a mall. But its nice to remember that it was once open land.
too funny about the kitty popping the pup when it invades your dear kitty's space. Our one cat is not that nice - she adds claws where as the other kitty ignores the dogs. You would think the claws would detour the dogs but it just makes them want to chase her more. More like a "oh no you didn't just do that".
d twins I think we all have that as part of us - we get peopled out but also love them as well! nothing better than sitting near water - enjoying the moment.

I had an absolutely lovely time weeding In the garden as the weather was perfect! It got a bit hotter in the late afternoon.
Today is supposed to be 75 degrees! yes!!!!! Unfortunately I have a family foundation meeting. Everyone has to be there even though it's simple. My dad left money to be used for educational institutions and other things that each family member would like to help. It's a way for me to help others even if I don't have the money myself.
I didn't vacuum yesterday - wow it shows it.

(from Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2014, "Effects of raw red onions on metabolic features") Looks like subjects had 1.5 ounces of onions twice a day for that study, so that may seem a lot. But all the other veggies are helping a little bit, too, of course.

Today has been check-up day for our HVAC. And all I can say is "Men!" They sent a new, relatively young (35-40ish) person, and he is about as oblivious to a woman's voice as a man can be. Comeuppance is that he was mixed up about a lot and I was right. (Of course. I've known this house inside and out for a lifetime. My input is invaluable if I can get a word in.) But as he drives away, I can't honestly say I think he'll ever change - he seems to be stuck in a patriarchal good-'ol-boy loop without even realizing it. HRH is trying to be amused about all this, but he agrees with me that it was obvious. At one point, I was holding my hand in the air to get to speak, and HRH's eyes got wide because he knows that won't end well.
All of us need to be sure we teach the young men we influence that they need to hush and listen to a woman just as much as they would a man. Not just because she is probably the one with the checkbook. Or even because she probably knows the overview of whatever situation as well as anyone.
But also, because they themselves will look foolish to others if they don't.
I am back from the gym and about to get into the shower. Then it’s off to run errands with Sweetie.
Bitter… a Dobie and a Shepard mix must make for a smart big dog, puppy or not And they do tend to get mischievous when bored. That’s why I’d like to get an older dog that’s already been through the puppy stage. Willis my Pitty was 12 weeks old when I got him, but besides an occasional piddle in the house till his bladder grew bigger, he was an easy pup. However I did spend a lot of time working with him. We had a pool and he loved to swim and that helped.
He was also one of the smartest dogs I’ve ever owned. His favorite game to play was “find it”. I would make him sit in the laundry room because he did t have a view of the rest of the house, take a treat and his it somewhere in my living area. I has all sneaky places to put it but when I gave him the command of “find it” it didn’t take him very long to do just that!
