I hope we all have satisfying Saturdays! Peace from worries and anxieties, enough socialization with people we love and enjoy, but not so much that we end up worn out with the world, and time to do what is most important to the most important person around: YOU!

Not sure what I have time to do this a.m. before we head out to a bat mitzvah at temple at 10:30. Added stress is that we're picking up dd and she's been in a MOOD and needs to get over it! House is something of a mess even tho dcleaning was here yesterday a.m. and Z (our newly married other son) and wife K will come by this afternoon. No judgement, he's seen our home at it's worst when he and my kids grew up.

Had another message re: kitchen counters this a.m. Hoping we can get them sold this week.

Need to get in the shower and get moving. I slept in just a little this a.m. but feel I am running behind.

Yesterday things went awry when DMIL fell at home alone and needed medical attention. DH found her and called hospice nurse and DSisIL. After DMIL was cleaned up then the nurse called am/pm clinic and paved the way for them to get treatment. DH drove DMIL the 45 minute drive to the clinic in the city. However, the am/pm clinic doctor said it was more than he could treat so sent DMIL to hospital ER. The ER doc tried to do stitches, but DMIL couldn't handle that, so they switched to gluing and splinting the wound to immobilize it. ANYway....the entire afternoon/evening was taken up with getting DMIL cared for and back home tucked into her bed with pain meds. DSisIL volunteered to stay last night with DMIL.

I just took a look at our weather forecast and kinda wish I hadn't looked. ugh. It is more of the same triple digit heat with no relief in sight for the next 2 weeks. hum...Maybe if I ignore it then I won't notice?

I am pleased with my morning progress. I had a good night's sleep and have accomplished routines #1 through 5. Now the basics are covered I can switch my focus and energy to other things.

Oh, LadyM, I feel for your family and dMIL. Falls are treacherous, I'm glad you had the hospice nurse to advise.

I've showered and am having breakfast. Need to dry my hair a bit, put on a bit of makeup and finish getting dressed, and head out. A little stressed with dh (where's the ironing board? can I get my meds out of that drawer while you cut strawberries for breakfast?) and a guy sending cabinet messages too.

I plan to look at this several times today, Twins. It's exactly what I need. Seems dh has been rather 'short' with me of late and I try to remember his physical condition and how very tired he is. At any rate my mood hasn't been the best since last evening either. Plus I've barely slept the last few nights and I know how badly I need it. Send some hints our way, Lady M. (Sorry about your DMIL's fall -they're never fun or easy).

Dh has gone around the bend to get his hair cut. Asked if I wanted to go to DS's-R while he did that but I want to exercise and not be doing it at 10:30pm tonight. I'm bound and determined to get my minimum steps in EVERY day no matter what.

BS was only 70 this morning -was surprised since we went out for dinner at the Pub last night.

Our 'resident' paramedic stopped over to see dh late yesterday to see how he was doing. He explained Afib to dh in a way he hadn't heard and I think he took it to heart. He'd mentioned how he could feel really good at first in the morning, then turning on a dime he'd be totally exhausted. S explained that with Afib probably only 50-70% of his heart is working. Pretty sure he's anxious to see his cardiologist the 19th. Dh is supposed to return to work Monday -very light duty I guess. Pretty much paper work right now. Hopefully that's all he does.

Need to print out Twins' quote from this morning and keep looking at it!

Send some hints our way,
This is what has helped me.....establish a PM routine and decide what time you will go to bed and what time you will get up. Make it a priority in your life. Train your brain so that when your PJ's are on and it is THAT time on the clock, then it is time to get in bed and go to sleep. I have a horrible tendency to fight this process and can find all kinds of reasons (excuses) to not follow this. However, the more I do follow it then my sleep improves.

I'm on break #2 to cool off and hydrate.

I've walked to the church and trimmed an armload of branches from overgrown shrubs. I chatted with a couple of neighbors on my walk there and back.

I trimmed our shrubs in front of the house. It is a slow process because I only do a bag full each time. I am hesitate about doing too much at a time because I need to walk away and get different perspectives to make sure I'm not trimming too much or too little.

I've been to the garden to water and harvest tomatoes, peppers and strawberries. The daily harvest is increasing. Two more of the tomato varieties are now ripe. The Cherokee purple tomato and the Celebrative tomato are both HUGE. I put my fist next to the tomato, but my fist was smaller, so I put both fists together and they are about the same size of each tomato. Apparently, the vegetable plants love triple digit heat.

I was sad when I found a support system failure in the garden. One of my 6 ft tall tomato cages fell over so now that cage holding the HUGE tomato plant is laying sideways across 2 raised beds and walkway. I tried to set it back up, but it is too heavy for me to lift. I am guessing the tomato plant is somewhere between 10 to 15 ft. in height. It is hard to estimate because it grows up the interior of the 6 ft cage and then back down the exterior of the cage. I have to stick my arm all the way to the shoulder to reach tomatoes in the middle of this one plant. I am estimating it is easily around 5 ft across.

Yes. This is something that I very rarely put on my todo list! I could give a lot of excuses, but that's what they'd be...excuses, not reasons. Working long hours (on days I'm scheduled to work, I leave the house at 7am, and don't get home until 7pm, except Sundays when I leave around 10am and get home about 6pm), trying to get dMum's place ready to go on the market (dsis has been out a few times - she lives in Ottawa, but is also working remotely while she's here, and spending quite a bit of time visiting dMum). Since airfares have shot up in the past few months, it's less feasible for her to come out very often. Guess who's doing it all? Dbro lives in England, so he can't exactly pop over to help! Then there's the issue of my own place, which has gone so far downhill in the last two or three years, I'm horrified at the condition I've let it get into. Yes, dMum was taking up a huge amount of time and mental/emotional energy when she was still living at home, but she was taken to hospital on March 26th, and transferred to the care home on April 26th. Now comes the huge task of dealing with the garden, and all the stuff in the house that she wouldn't let anyone deal with while she still lived there. Some days - most of them, really, I end up feeling completely exhausted and overwhelmed and sitting staring at the laptop screen doing not much at all. I do know that some of this is because I don't take time for myself, but it's hard to when you feel like that so much of the time.

OK...enough whining! This morning, now that I've actually slept in for an extra 2.5 hours, and fed the dstarving critters, I'm going to get a few things done around here, and then head over to dMum's place to reclaim a few more square feet of the front garden. Gardening is one of my "me time" things. Believe it or not, I really love weeding! It's a rather mindless activity that produces beautiful results.

I really need to get moving here...like Twins I'm feeling like I'm running behind. I may just have to remove a few things from my todo list for today...I do always tend to underestimate how much time some task or other will take, and end up with an unreasonably long list!

First up:

- clean cat box
- pick up dishes, trash, etc
- swish/swipe bathrooom
- 10 more things thrown/put away from the dining room table
- gather recycling & library stuff to drop off on the way to visit dMum

Good morning! Oops — I guess that just slipped into afternoon here.

I am having a satisfying sit on my bench in the shade (of the sugar maple in the side yard, since the red maple in the front yard is no longer  ). It is breezy and cool enough here today that I went in and made myself a hot cup of tea. I wish I could share my weather with you, LadyM!

I will be headed inside to make myself useful shortly. I’m actually a little chilly, and there’s a bug in my tea, but at least at the end of the day, I won’t be sorry that it was a gorgeous day, and I didn’t take advantage of it at all.

Well wishes to DMILs and DHs and all who need them. Don’t hate me, LadyM, but I’m headed into the warmth of my house now.
