We'll all be waiting and watching and praying for the safety of our Florida SHE family today and and tomorrow. I'm setting up a virtual waiting and watching room (and passing some out to Harmony and any other friends feeding extras) with ice water, freshly made coffee and teas, juice, pastries, fresh fruit, and a hot buffet of bacon and eggs. Consider yourself served breakfast, dear Florida friends.

Thxs Twins…I did have my coffee this morning.

The storm should be hitting me between 9-11 am. I am very pleased with my shutters as they don’t rattle like I thought they might.

Right now I can really hear the wind whipping around outside. However I’m not scared and Sweetie is doing well too. This is his first storm and he picked a doozy.

89% of our community decided to stay, but for many this is their first storm. Anyway I have my laundry room set up and made it nice and cozy. We still have cable and electricity. Our neighbors told us they had power through the entire storm the last time.

Like I said before I just want the storm to be over. It should be passed me by noon and on its way to visit Harmony

Btw it’s 8:30am here

Glad to see RR checking in. I don't have any idea of where our FL family lives and the path of the storm, so thank you for the info RR.

The pantry guy is here finishing up the shelves in our pantry this a.m. I'll set aside some time to reorganize the pantry this week, I just loaded everything in. The shelves at the side are mainly for cans so I'll be able to see the labels.

I need to wrap up a.m. routine and head upstairs! I feel more energetic today. I probably read from 5 p.m. last night until dh came to bed at 11. I feel better rested.

Joining others in the virtual waiting room. (((Florida))) Wondering if SHE's were able to get some sleep last night?

I have a rare weekday at home without kids. DD11 is at school and DS14 is at work. The people DS14 work with are doing an unusual job today at a worksite several miles away. DS14 wanted to be a part of it so we teamed up last night to do his homeschool assignments for today.

I went to the See You At The Pole gathering this morning with DD11. It was well attended.

I have the window next to me open because the temperature is in the 60's this morning. The cool air feels absolutely wonderful. I'm ignoring the fact that it will be 95F later today.

Stay safe and dry, Harmony & RR and any other friends and family in Ian's path. DD, Dsonil & Dbil are waiting it out inside their home in Lakeland. Still is anybody's guess how much rain they'll get out of this. That and the storm surge are the biggest concerns for all of FL. Know dd's yard is already flooded. And as I've said before their biggest concern is the mammoth oak trees in front and behind their house. I'm amazed as I think of all the people (family & friends) we know in this path. Lots of prayers abound for all.

I see 11:02 on my computer clock. The eyewall is coming onshore very close to RamblinRose. We are supposed to get our worst wind 1:30-ish. Very large storm. I ventured out with umbrella to the end of my driveway to check my rain gauge. It had 5". HaHa, that's all it goes to. So I don't know how much we got so far. I had to hold the edges of my umbrella as it was wanting to turn inside out. I guess that's the last I will venture outside.

DH ventured out to the neighbors directly in back of us. They have a big trampoline in their yard and it is not anchored down in any way. Our next door neighbors have one too but he came over yesterday afternoon and DH gave him a sledge hammer and a whole bunch of metal stakes and chain to anchor it in place. He had taken it down but it was just there on the ground. The back neighbors left and are not there. They just left this big thing right there. I'm a little mad about that. We anchored everything of ours so it didn't blow and harm neighbors. Brought in everything we possibly could.

DH got the electric griddle out and he and DNephew made pancakes and bacon. I had OJ and cinnamon bread. Our hot water stopped making hot water and DH discovered he had it turned off at the box. I wish he'd stay out of that power box.

So that's how we're doing. There's a lot of extra cleaning and dishes and cooking going on with this many people.

I am going to gather some paperwork now and find a plastic bin to put it in. I wish I had done this earlier, ran out of time.

DH has done something (he doesn't know what, hasn't fallen or anything) but his "good" knee is as bad as his "bad" knee from yesterday on. :(

Oy, Harmony, it sounds like you're doing as well as possible. When I have too many people around I sometimes take the opportunity to "nap." Sometimes that is napping, sometimes in the bedroom reading alone. It's not like you guys have a lot else to do right now. Thank you for checking in.

The guy doing the pantry is still here. Somehow I thought the shelves would be mostly cut and just ready to install but he's been working over 2.5 hours now.

Glad you're still able to check in, Harmony. I know this can't be over soon enough. DD's figuring at this point that their school (and most of central/western FL at least) will be closed the rest of the week. Pretty sure they build in 'storm' days much as we do 'snow' days in the north.

Dh isn't working today -it's just plain miserable out there. They have him clocked in however as he has quite a few 'banked' hours. I really wonder if he'll work at all next year. Certainly will change things a lot for us on many fronts.

I've been working on all our varied lists for the end of the year. Had to stop once as I realized I had to print out absentee voter applications. Have done that. Now to fill them out and get them mailed. Figure I'll do that tomorrow. Dh has a periodical that usually comes on Thursdays so it's a good day to go. May have to go to the grocery store again and pick up a few things we couldn't get at W mart Monday.
