Good morning SHEville!

The sun has risen, or at least the dark has receded, so it is time to open up the village.

I won't be posting again today. Too busy with the grands again.

We had a good day on Friday but they didn't get long enough here, so I pick them up in a few minutes (still need to s2s so this will be brief.)

I didn't get my first meal of the day until 2 p.m. on Friday so dinner was cereal (at 7:30 p.m. after getting dh from the airport.)

I spent yesterday trying to recover any motivation. It was lost. Dh is a background distraction at the best of times but yesterday, after almost 3 weeks of being on my own, I kept getting startled when I heard noises in other parts of the apartment.

The bedroom won't cool down so I no longer sleep well. The radiators are covered with blankets and the windows opened full but the lowest it can get is 72 (it is going down to sub 40 outside each night) and I've been sleeping well with it in the 60s. The rest of the apartment is cooler because the wind is on other sides of the building, and I have the windows open, hoping that cooler air will move into the bedroom. I think it is, because when the door is closed (cuz dgs1.5 is here), or the patio doors are closed (because it is too cold in the rest of the apartment), the bedroom goes up to 75. So basically, the bedroom is too hot to sleep and the apartment is too cold to work in. I tried sleeping in the living room on Thursday night but moved there at 2 in the morning and then moved from recliner to couch at 3 so didn't sleep well. Now that dh is home, he really hates me leaving the bed and really hates the fan being on since the breeze bothers him. Sigh.... I hate this time of year.

Today the older two grands will be here for all day. Dinner is not Thanksgiving but dgs6's family birthday dinner. He requested McDonalds so that's what he gets, Nana's rules.

They'll leave by 6:30 at the latest. Dh will drive as many as fit in the car home. Dsil will bus here and back (and come later than the kids.)

I woke up at 5:30 this morning thinking that I should get a turnip for supper tomorrow night. Dh mentioned that his best friend loves turnip, so I will be out at another grocery store at some point today looking for a turnip and hoping that the line ups aren't too long at the cashiers. I thought I was the only one that loved turnip, and dh said he will eat it if I make it. Took the 4 turkey drumsticks and 2 thighs out of the freezer this morning. Also took out the ground beef/pork for tonight's stuffed shells.

A lot of people have their Thanksgiving meal on Sunday or even Saturday. We will have ours tomorrow.

Good morning, Kathryn, Cathy, and all who follow!

Enjoy the grands, Kathryn, and happy birthday to your DGS!

I don’t know about the turnips, Cathy (I’ve only had them once or twice, and it’s been a long time), but it sounds like you have a cozy Thanksgiving dinner planned.

We went to church last night — DH was scheduled to run the livestream — so I’m not sure what I’m going to do this morning. Right now, I’m lollygagging in bed. Listened to the Sunday puzzle on NPR. No clue as to the answer.

I’ve taken some zinc. DH came back from his retreat with a nasty cold (thankfully not Covid), and I don’t want to catch it. It has reminded me that I’ve put off my Covid booster and flu shot too long.

Guardians won their series — hooray! So no game to listen to today. DC has a play to attend for their acting class at 2, so I’m thinking I will go visit my DM earlier or later than usual so I can drive them, and DH doesn’t have to interrupt his football game. Thing is, if I go earlier, I’ll likely have to feed her, and if I go later, she’ll likely be asleep. My usual time hits the sweet spot in between.

I really ought to s2s. Not sure what I will wear, though; I’m behind on laundry, and the last two loads I did didn’t have much of my stuff in them. I guess I should figure that out.

Have a good day, everyone!

I'm up but not very busy. Did get all our lists for End Of Year (our season at the campground) done. They're printed out and maybe I can start crossing some things that are done. I keep thinking of more things to put on them. I sometimes wonder how people do this without lists. Know dd does, but then there are things she forgets to do -like put down her TV antenna, turn off her water, etc, etc. We've found several things that dh ended up doing. Told her I'd make up a list for her to check off those needed things. Her DDad won't always be around to do it. As it is he doesn't think he'll do winterizing next year.

Dh's DB called around 9 this morning. Asked WHY AREN'T YOU GOING TO CHURCH. For one thing neither of us are really up to it and he had 3 winterizations he had to do all before noon. I really am not up to it. Having tummy issues this morning. Sure can't wait to get to warmer temps. One of the times that I came out to try to get to sleep in my recliner I saw it was 44 out. At least a tad warmer than yesterday morning.

I hear you on the bedroom being too warm, Kathryn. If I leave the register in there open it gets much too warm and I get up to close it. Usually I wake up sweating.

I need a nap so may just take a snooze and then try to restart my day.

Good morning. I had a good sleep last night. Never woke up once.

First thing I did is put in a LOL, 1 of many I'll have to do. Then I had breakfast, my choice a piece of toast! Funny how I missed being able to use the toaster.

Then I held my breath and put all my wires and connections back in what I think is their proper places. I got one manual out to view the buttons on the monitor as it wasn't working and I didn't know why. I didn't expect the wify to work but I thought it should come on which it didn't.

Green wire I couldn't identify I crawled around and find it comes in through the wall to my internet... found a button I must have hit in the midst of all this when I took it apart on the battery backup. Wow that's it. And here I am and the internet button is lit up so they must have fixed that too!

Now only one thing in the house is not working, the TV in the living room. I will call the satellite company for some help with that. It seems to work but can't seem to get the signal.

DH went to church but I don't know why he left so early.

I've messed around with the computer but the look of everything is just weird. Icons big and when I minimize them a bit they look odd. Well, I'll figure it all out eventually. I should look at DH's side before he messes with it all and does who-knows-what.

Anyway - It's Good To Be Back! Y'all have a nice day. I'll be out raking and who knows what as I work on laundry today too.

The teen grands helped HRH with projects yesterday - cleaning out storage areas, etc. DangerBoy did so much that I'm sure he was truly ready for a break.

HRH found some ancient items that had passed from a declutter/organization I helped my Mother do before HRH's time, through ds' move into her house and into storage. It was a revelation on its own, he thought, to see what was on the label ( I've always done a good job with that ), But when opened, the box also contained photos from the family member mentioned on the label. One is so obscure to me I'd better hurry and ask the few people who may know. The others - I have a latent memory of my Mother's insistence that I listen to her and remember them, so those I'll label myself. To her credit, she may not have labeled photos, but she did preserve. These are not even from her family, but my Dad's.

Then I took care of ds' children for several hours and had a supper with them. We did not cook, we assembled, as Ken in Canada would say. DgdC loves her mac and cheese. I told her it was shells and cheese and she asked, "Well, what does "mac" mean, anyway?" (smile)

Our sports-following here does not travel, as does Mystery and lucylee's fandom (hurray Guardians), but stays close, lol.

The Angels have won 8 of 8 games in their 10-game series for fall season and our green-eyed-boy,11, has been awarded 3 of their game balls. He had to have an ibuprofen from nurse Mom before yesterday's game because of a fall at the house but still played through the full game. The Angels are the counterpart team for 11-to-12s, of the Pirates 9-to-10s for whom he played in spring when they won their pennant. So he is brand new to the "league" but fitting right in. He has always been set on a different speed, even in toddlerhood, lol. He usually has his feet up but when he moves, he's already gone. DgdC roughhouses with him happily - they never have a spat, somehow.

Morning…

Kathryn …Sweetie hates having the over head fan on so I now use a floor fan that puts moving air on my side of the bed. The colder the room the better I sleep too. Sweetie hates when I move to the other bedroom if I can’t sleep because it’s too hot for me. Told him it’s either the fan or I’m moving… his choice

I slept till almost 8:30 this morning. Can’t remember the last time that happened. However, I’m up with a lot of energy so my body must have needed it.

My ADD really has me buzzing today, but instead of trying to manage it I’m letting it run free. Sometimes it takes much of my energy to control it, so I’m just gonna go with the flow as I have much to get done today.

I had planned to wash all the outside furniture and rug today, but it’s very overcast and I need the sun to dry everything. Besides I have plenty to do in my home. Need to put many things away that I had out for the storm. I’ve already cleared off my kitchen island, counters, emptied the dishwasher and the sink. We finally got the all clear to use our water without the fear of e-coli. I dismantled all my washing stations n my kitchen and master bedroom bath. Also emptied my tub.

Next up…
* Clear off dinning room table and put things away
* Sweep the entire house so I can vacuum every thing. Vacuum doesn’t get close enough to the base board in places
* dust everything
* put away stuff that I packed that belong in my bathroom
* put up some fall decorations

I need to cheer up this place a bit. Thankfully the homes across my lake are in pretty good shape as well so it’s not too depressing when I look outside

I worked really hard yesterday cutting down tons of bushes. Swept all leaves off the driveway. I still have more to do, but looking on the bright side the storm killed two of my bushes that I hate. Now I have two great places to put my big flower pots where I can grow my sunflowers next spring.

Got great music going to lift my sports. It’s difficult to watch the local news which shows all the devastation and deaths. If I had my way I wouldn’t watch at all, but I also need to know what’s going on in my area.

Gotta get going, don’t want to waste my day… see y’all later :D

Harmony… when I was teaching I had to disassemble all my electronics and computer at the end of each year. I quickly learned to label each wire so I knew where they went. Later with my iPhone, I would also take a picture of the backs of each piece of equipment before I disassembled it. Made my life much easier when fall rolled around. :D
