Setting up a virtual waiting room for us while we wait for news from Dee. A chef is here to make omelets to order (protein!) and we have fruit, some pretty pastries, and coffee, tea, OJ and water. Praying all goes well with Mr. Dee this morning - they may be underway already.

The weather where I am is cloudy and dry. Not really warm, but not windy either. So, it's truly a fall day.

And for me, I'll be in a real waiting room when I take my car to have oil changed, etc. I'm driving so little that it takes awhile before I need to do it. Wanted to get it done before we went to Birmingham this weekend but that is off. Dh is working at filling up the weekend with things for us to do, tho, never fear.
I'll have some work time this afternoon, and dh has a Zoom meeting on the calendar for the evening so we'll be eating late here at home. Will probably make chicken salad from the leftover grilled chicken from earlier in the week.
I'm almost thinking of going back to the state library and archive but don't know if I'd have time for additinal research and the trip and writing. I don't feel I've done a great job with the reasonably exhaustive research on the third generation. He was born abt 1870 and died 1948 so the records aren't online for him.
Cathy, it's beautiful here again - high in high sixties and clear as a bell!

I broke a watch band yesterday, got a new watch but it does not fit.
Woke up remembering the others I had gotten batteries for in the drawer!
Had good dreams.
Cabbage is chopped for 3 recipes.
Soup day. Soup is on now.
I got out stuff to thaw for the other recipe for later.
Journaling & planning done.
Woke up in the nite to deal with aftermath of low bs before bed. sigh
it is an unsualing time for that but I did not eat soon enough and had a more active day than normal extra steps shopping.
more details in h & f thread.
Next cooking mission will be next week I think shepherds pie with cheesy clailf. I have the stuff for it.
Covid data is not upto date bc of security breach in a hospital in our state. No clue what is up.
But bronchitis seems to be going around.
Waving to all.

Nancy, I have a watch on my desk here and the batteries but I need to take it in because I don't have the tool to open the back to insert the new battery. BTW: I've had the battery a year now....
We are supposedly, finally, getting fiber optic internet cable installed in our apartment. I first pulled out the furniture for this to be done in January of 2020. They did the rest of the building but skipped the difficult apartments. Then came back and dropped the cable outside our door. We didn't push the issue too much because we weren't planning on switching at the time.
Then when we finally decided to switch, sent someone who couldn't do the install because the cable isn't inside the apartment. Today the contractor who is allowed to drill through walls is here. Maybe, just maybe, we'll have this install finished before January 2023!
Today's focus is on the residents' association.
But first some breakfast. At least I'm s2s earlier today than usual because of the workers.

Morning…
Yesterday was like a zombie day for me. Had little sleep for three nights and so I mostly sat all day. Sleep in the guest room last night because it tends to be cooler and is darker. That did the trick and I slept like the dead for over 11 hours and didn’t get up till almost 8!!!
It’s laundry day here so I need to get going. Just finished my first cup of coffe and need to start on my laundry and morning routines.
Joining everyone as we wait for news from Dee. Sending prayers and hugs

hello d everyone.
Yesterday turned into a rest day later in the day - I think it was depression.
dd older left this morning to visit dd younger in Florida.
the landscape people are working on the grass
cleaning angels coming this morning. - honestly in winter I can go down to once a month but it costs the same. the charge double the amount once a month.
first things first: room by room to look for trash, donation pick up and put away.
I want to work outside.
We had our 4th frost already! crazy!
dishes on in dw
dh put a load of laundry in and I turned it on
I am trying to adjust to more work time inside. not as enjoyable but it is that time of the year.
listening to a halloween Jack Benny special from 1941 (my dear dear father in law loved the old time radio shows and loved Jack Benny (and others). I usually listen to the halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas shows during this and coming seasons. bing Crosby/bob hope at Christmas as well.
I love Amy grant music for Christmas as well, josh groban, Charlie Brown, etc etc.
there has been having discussions that are an interesting subject to us. re: teaching (my one sis in law is a preschool teacher) they are no longer adding the narrative about the pilgrims and native Americans - and now turkeys for vegetarians might be an issue (understandable). everything should be respectful - I have a have a feeling there can be a respectful way to teach about the different cultures and history without it being offensive. I think the turkey can also be about growing up on the farm etc. I love Native American pow wows and I think they can bring in that history as well as a separate history re: the pilgrims coming here and how they lived instead of not sharing anything. Maybe gratefulness and thankfulness. I don't know - it will be interesting what happens in teaching in the future.

It shouldn't be too bad, the jack will likely be in the hall in the middle of the apartment. We did have to move all the boxes of halloween decorations out of the way for them to work because I'd dumped those there last evening. And the stroller and some toys. Dgs' presence is well established here, even when he isn't here!
I am now trying to get productive, we'll see how that goes.
I did post an update in Members Only with pictures of these people I keep talking about.
